Equestria games = Olympic games?

Well, obviously yes. This is an alternative to the Olympic games for MLP universe.

 

However, is it a coincidence that the Equestria games will be held in the fourth season? 

 

Tomorrow in Sochi will host the Olympic games opening ceremony. Seems like we will get episode about the opening ceremony of Equestria games, pretty soon. What do you think?

Hmm... good point. I guess I never thought about that. Perhaps when the writers wrote Season 3 they were getting pumped for the Olympics this year...

You may have a point there, because, as we all know, the Crystal Empire was chosen to host the games, and who rules the empire at present? Shining Armor and Cadance, who both hold responsibility for foiling Chrysalis's plan to harvest Equestria of every ounce of love in the land. 

 

This does present an opportunity for her to strike back, so you may be onto something there. Here's hoping!

Actually it kind of is since the winter Olympics happen to be this year.

Well, because of the Olympics coming up for the Winter Season this year, it is possible that the Equestria Games could be the alternative that the crew possibly made as the new theme for season 4 just as they made Rainbow Power canon for the show.

The Equestria Games is like an equivalent to the Olympics because, they have different categories in their events where everyone can participate in once they qualify.
