Nah. This was more like a high school love triangle; The guy goes after the girl because of her looks. The guy tries to be like the girl to win her over. There's another girl that likes the guy. The guy doesn't like the other girl, you know the rest.

I'm gonna say he probably thought he was in love with her, but only because he didn't truly grasp what it means to be in love.  He was definitely infatuated, I can tell for sure; he certainly wasn't faking it.  He just didn't know her well enough to actually love her for who she is.

No, lets just say he wanted to buck something other than apples at Sweet Apple Acres. Seriously he may have wanted to rut AJ like there is no tomorrow (not that I blame him with AJ being smoking hot and all) but he never really loved her even if Trenderhoof Jr clearly did (last sex joke I promise). I know this because I have experienced the same thing Trenderhoof has a million times over and can say that just because you are infatuated with someone dosen't always mean you are in love with them, you might have a crush on them but even that is still a form of infatuation.
