not really. 

 

its basically a movement phase, a shooting phase, roll for accuracy then your opponent rolls to see how many of those kill his forces.

the more complex rules are things like terrain blocking your shots or being dangerous to move though, instant death weapons (anything double a model's thoughness),  Invunerable saves (hero characters have these or you made said model have it for a points cost) that allow a chance to survive instant death weapons.

 

beyond that are  model specific rules. but you learn those as you accquire said models

Yes and No.

 

Many folks play with them unpainted or sprayed one colour (like army men lol)

 

What matters more is that the models are assembled correctly and have all the wargear on the model yo say it does so that you can work out the points coast and not pull a op weapon choice out of your ass in a battle XD

 

However talking the time to paint your army can make the whole army on display look very impressive. Also some armies are easier to paint than others. Keeping the colour scheme simple and basic is they way to go XD

I've never even heard of this before, even though it is a defining aspect of who I am.

 

Currently, I'm putting together an Eldar army with Phoenix Lords Karandras and Fuegan as the centerpieces. I'm also thinking of getting the Iyaden supplement and getting a proper wraith army together.
