gaming The new Thief game. Thoughts?

I'm very skeptical. New voice actor, crappy focus mode, hardcore options, and parkour. This feels like they are inspired by Dishonored for this new version of a favorite game of mine. I'm very skeptical and worried levels will be linear too.

Your thoughts on our favorite Master Thief Garret?

Very excited, recently played Dishonored, which reminded me of the Thief games a lot. I'm generally a fan of stealthy games, and it looks like it's going to be a good game, so I am probably gonna pick it up at launch of Tuesday.

Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

Well, after looking at total biscuits video I can tell that you can customize the difficulty of the game in great detail.

It's at about 9:05 and I think it's a really nice way of pleasing the old fans (for making it harder obviously) as well as people new to the game/genre so they can get used to it.

Whenever I have enough money I'll definitely buy the game, mostly because it reminds me of dishonored which I loved and my love for stealth games in general.
I'm kinda stealthy in real life because I don't have any presence and I like it that way.

Thanks for linking that video. Haven't checked YouTube in a while now, have I?

I picked it up yesterday and it's not bad so far. The best way I can describe the feel of it is a mix of Skyrim and Bioshock Infinite. Skyrim because the town you play in looks like Riften and I spent most if my time sneaking around and stealing stuff. Bioshock because it's linear but has many open areas for you to take multiple paths or search for loot. The main character also talks to himself a lot just like Booker DeWitt. I've never played the original Thief game so I didn't know what to expect but I'm happy. That being said, this is the first game worth a damn since the xbone launched so I would care if it sucked. I'm tired of playing BF4!

MY qualm is that in the original three theif games, you had open ended areas to approach the goal from different angles. Hard difficulties added more goals to reach and the game was hard. Great immersion, amazing voice actor for Garret, and fun stories. The levels were large, and the thrid game added in several Hub areas which really made the city feel more like...well a city!

Even the third game, heralded as a weaker entry but still good (its my favorite for the story and shalebridge cradle), had great open areas, hubs, and levels. It also had an amazing story and one of hte scariest levels in gaming history, the insane asylum/orphanage called the Shalebridge Cradle, where drept first saw the Grey Lady.

Everything I have been reading on the new thief is that it is linear instead of open...that is a big mark against it for me. You can't have a proper thief game without open areas.
