Have you noticed that ponies can predict the future?

As you can see, everypony in the Equestrian Universe's name relates to their Cutie Mark, very closely. Take, for example, Berry Punch. Her Cutie Mark is precisely that... berry punch! Or Coco Pommel, her Cutie Mark is a pommel... with some cocoa. (Not very creative, if I do say so myself.)

So what are your views on this rule? Apparently parents basically predict their children's Cutie Mark. Essentially that removes the point of the Cutie Mark Crusaders, as we can draw the conclusion that Apple Bloom's will relate to apples, Sweetie Bell's will relate to music (not very sure on that), and Scootaloo's will relate to a scooter or something that has to do with stunts.

Yes, but my OC's name is Star Ruby. That just means she's good at video games. She's also the pony version of me. So what's up with that? Or no I made that name myself. Uh, how about applebloom. She is going to make appleblooms? Apple trees don't have flowers right?

Wait, what about Maud Pie? Or pinkie pie? Or.... Diamond Tiara? We don't even know what her cutie mark really even means?

I don't care what pony you like because I like everypony!

Apple trees do, in fact, have flowers. Diamond Tiara has a Cutie Mark that is just that, a diamond tiara. I do believe that it is to represent her wealthy family. There are a few exceptions, including Maud Pie and Pinkie Pie.

Well most of the time, like with the cmc the characters don't really take how their name would affect their cutie mark.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it save equistria with its five candy coloured friends and shoot rainbows at bad guys using their necklaces and tiara unless you're celestia

Well, you might be right, you might be wrong. Some ponies do have kind of a connection with there names and cutie marks. Like:

Twilight Sparkle: Her cutie mark is a star, and stars sparkle!

Princess Luna: Her cutie mark is a moon, and Luna in English means moon.

Cherry Jubille: Her cutie mark are 3 cherries, I think (But It has to do with cherries)

Diamond tiara: Her cutie mark is a diamond tiara

Silver Spoon: Her cutie mark is a silver spoon

While there are some other ponies which their name doesn´t have to do anything with their cutie mark like:

Pinkie Pie: Her cutie mark ISN´T a Pink Pie, or anything that has to do with pies or desserts, or anything pink.

Granny Smith: Well, granny smith is type of green apples, and a pie doesnt have to to with Granny Smith apples, unless it was made with them. Lets give it the benefit of doubt.

Dr Whooves: His cutie mark is a sand clock, it doesnt make any sense with the name.

So that means, no, ponies can not predict the cutie mark. But we have seen some future prediction by Luna in the ep From Whom The Sweetie Belle Toils.

It also means the CMC cutie marks will or will not do anything with the names, but if they do:

Apple Bloom: Apple, her talent has to do with apples.

Scootaloo: Scoot, her talent has to do with scooters.

Sweetie Belle: Idk,maybe she will play a bell somewhere near in the future xD

After today's episode and how Twilight was able to see in the past in the Season 4 premiere, I wouldn't be surprised if Ponies were able to do something with time. ^^

Oh! And Twilight's time travel spell she borrowed from Star Swirl. ^^

My headcanon is that expecting parents have a sort of sixth sense on what they should name their foal. Because whether or not the name directly relates to the cutie mark, it almost always relates to who they are or their special talent. Pinkie Pie? She's pink and loves sweets. Maud Pie? Assuming that it's meant to be closely related to the term 'mud pie,' her name is loosely related to the earth, which rocks reside in. The Apple Family inherently has 'apple' in their name, because they all work at an apple farm.
