What are your opinion on taboo

I seen a lot of these TV shows about taboo on TV today and thought that it would be interesting to see how other think about this subject

note: I don't know if I should put this as media or general discussions on this subject because it is talked about in medias the most but its a public thing

with that said lets start discussing

1:What is your opinion on taboo?

My opinion on this subject is that i don't really care to much about, I have no reason to do that because i got my life my likings that some people will find weird/not fitting in
I personally think people are to obsesses to fit in and be "normal" instead of living in a stress free environment.
sure there have to be some limits but I think its stupid that a person will have to be an outcast or feel that he/she cant be like they want to be (some people avoid me because I'm weird because i like to watch ponies)

2:and if you have an opinion on taboo which is the worst thing that is considered a taboo for you?

as i stated i don't care about taboo

3:if you feel like my opinion about taboo is wrong please tell me why or simple ask why i accept it as much as i do (bring examples so i have an easier time answering them)

I looked trough if there was any threads like this and couldn't find any but I did it lazily so I hope i saw right

Well, some things are taboo for a reason, and make some logical sense. Others do not make sense, and should be allowed. I guess it all depends on what it is.

I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was akin to a slow death. Yeah sometimes taboo can be overused.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it save equistria with its five candy coloured friends and shoot rainbows at bad guys using their necklaces and tiara unless you're celestia

Some taboos are archaic and a byproduct of the isms of society before us, and those should be phased out. Others are there for a very good reason, but honestly? As long as everyone involved is consenting, what happens happens.

I stay far away from most of them, unless they're taboos that don't make any sense and were made by man.

What I mean is when someone calls something a taboo.

Do you mean an instance where something that is normally considered acceptable is suddenly branded as taboo?

I actually enjoy talking about some taboo subjects. I'm usually not the first to bring any up, but they do make for really good conversation material.

Yeah, mainly religious taboos, like Ouija boards and stuff. But also, silly taboos, like how women could only wear dresses in the past and they weren't allowed to show any skin at all when swimming.

I know what you mean :/

I'm just waiting for the day when some 'genius' finally decides to declare breathing as being a taboo :P

I think taboo things are subjective.  Most people would consider one thing taboo while a percentage of society would believe the other or be indifferent.  Some of the things that are considered to be taboo are just idiotic or way out of line.  Others are not but who am I (or anyone else) to judge someone else's life and what they want to do with it.  c:  I mean, some people think bronies are taboo.  So what.  There's still a huge community such as this one.  xD

yeah and its a great way to find out what you can talk to a person about

because I can start out with the simple tattoo taboo and start an conversions and get a lot of information on that persons personal thinking

It all depends on the society. What might be Taboo in some other country might be completely normal in a country like The United States.

Religious beliefs can also make certain things become Taboo.
