Before You Begin:

Hello everyone!

Before I launch into the more boring bits, if you will, I felt it only fair that I tell you a little bit about this whole fandango.

First of all, this roleplay is not geared towards any certain group of RP players, new or experienced, for everyone is always learning when it comes to writing. Rather, this RP exists to tell a story, and I will only accept those who seem willing to become a part of that regardless of past RP's.

Do not feel afraid of TOO many restrictions; I tend to be one of those iron-clad DM's where EVERYTHING in the story MUST happen by this time, regardless of anything the other players are doing - or rather, their characters. As a result, this is just as much an experiment for I as it may be to you! I will guide certain events, but this is about blossoming our characters. Don't worry about very long posts, or apologize for actions your character does. Become them! Be daring! (But not too daring plz.)

BE WARNED: this ain't yo' 12-year-old brother's RP. It is heavily dialogue and situational based, with little to no likely action or fighting.

Now, without further ado...I will finally shut up and continue.

 

Setting:

City of Trotonto in the late 70’s/early 80’s.

 

(MAP OF OTHER LOCATIONS TO BE PROVIDED LATER)

These locations will include:

  • Rick’s Tavern
  • City Park
  • Marketplace
  • Bank
  • Etc.
The entirety of the story won’t take place in the actual bar - there will be other places to go, and you can always (of course) have your own home.

The area in which your character lives is the waterfront area; whether a higher class or lower class area is up to you.

 

Storyline:

Genre - SoL, Adventure, Mystery, Random, ALIENS?!

It seems simple, doesn't it? Ponies and non-ponies alike get off their gruelling workday and go out to the classic tavern for the classic 5 o'clock beer before trudging home to their families. Trotonto is no different than any other city in this regard; in fact, it's wholly underwhelming.

Well, mostly.

As if out of nowhere late one night, an especially taverny tavern popped up, probably scaring the crap out of some pigeons or something. Despite its distinctly tattered appearance, its stupid name (Rick's? Really?) and its faint smell of B.O. and stale beer, no one can say they remember Rick's ever being there, and not just because they were too drunk to remember.

And that doesn't even begin to explain its inhabitants.

You, despite your possible better judgement, decide to finally try Rick's one night. (How very brave!)

However, what you start to find is more than you can imagine...and it'll probably change your life forever. Emphasis on PROBABLY.

Don't worry.

...too much.

 

Rules:

Please read with care. They are important to maximize your understanding and experience.

0.5. DENIED!

As with any roleplay, I have full discretion regarding any acceptance prior to play or removals during. I am under no obligation to offer a reason in either case, though I normally will regarding the latter.

1. No Mary Sue, no god mod.

While there is likely going to be little to no action besides some possible MLG arm-wrestling, this rule still applies. A good rule of thumb is one flaw to every two "good" traits; for example, polite and amusing, but incredibly slobby. You could also tie flaws to traits, such as the classic Rarity - generosity to the point of it becoming negative on your characters life.

Close relations to canon characters, no matter their show stature, are not permitted to be shown in the RP (ex. marriage to a character). Distant relations like them being your boss are okay, so long as you aren't all "BEZTIIIES4LIEFKAWAII"

2. Race restrictions.

I always have these. No alicorns, dragons, or changelings. Any other canon species is permitted (things like the comics included.) If you want to use a changeling, I may change my mind (huehue) but neither of the other two, magical power, age, or other related factors regardless, will be permitted. (Also, a 5-year-old dragon in a bar makes zero sense.)

No playing of canon characters, please.

If you want to play a non-canon race, please provide all details regarding your race and I will consider.

3. Grammar, spelling, cursing, and other languages.

We all make mistakes but when you're making twenty or thirty a post, that isn't acceptable, and it hurts struggling through. In addition, excessive amounts of cursing become not only tiresome but inappropriate, and I ask that, if you feel your character is the lewder type, you censor the middle of the word but leave the first and last letters intact. (Ex. s**t)

Run-on sentences are cool, though. Use them AS MUCH AS YOU'D LIKE. c:

There are TONS of grammar guides on the Netz; if in doubt, check them out!

If your character speaks any other languages besides English and will use it at any point in the RP, denote translations to a footnote at the end of your post using an asterisk.

4. Relationships, NSFW, and gore.

Relationships (romantic) are fine among characters, so long as it does not become the sole driving force behind their actions. Do not let it dominate your character, for the sake of the other players, please. ^^;

NSFW content such as explicit sexual scenes or incredibly detailed gore will not only result in immediate removal from the RP but also a complaint to moderators. It is NOT acceptable at all.

5. Don't "machine gun" post.

I hate this. Put thought and characterization into your posts. The goal is not to have more than everyone else. Care about who you are playing as like they were a real person. On this note, any post below five decent sentences UNLESS a situation calls for less are a little too snippy. Try to care, and this experience will be that much more rewarding.

I do not establish "posting orders" as they hinder movement; however, at the start, I wait for everyone to make at least one introductory post before continuing.

If you see that someone is busy or otherwise is unable to post, don't blaze ahead eight pages and leave them behind.

6. INCLUSION.

This is a BIG thing, because I see it all the time.

If you join and see you have a friend that you RP with a lot, or you find a character you are compatible with, remember that this is NOT just a vessel for your characters to interact. It is SO UNFAIR to other players when their attempt to interact with you and you ignore or are nasty to their character. I expect you to at least try to talk to everyone. I will remove you if you continuously shove other players off.

Please provide a character sheet, along with any additional information you may feel is important.

Teal = PC

 

Rick: Owner type folk. Almost never comes out of his office and when he does he wears a body suit and a paper bag over his head.

Seriously.

Likes cigars, mare booty, and more cigars. That’s about all we know.

Oh, and he has funny coloured glowing eyes…

Benny: Local drunk. Wooer of women, teller of tales, and always good for a spot of advice. Or so he’d like to think when he isn’t face-deep in a barrel of ale. WHO NEEDS GLASSES WHEN YOU HAVE A FACE?!?!

Evergreen: Hot barmaid. Rumour has it her girlfriend is in a gang, so don't try anything funny with her.

Muertos (played by Peeds, DM): Goes by Manny to friends – so probably not you. Gravedigging makes a stallion a serious one. Frequents Rick’s due to the fact that it isn’t very popular and he can usually drink in peace.

Yes, please; that would be preferable, though a lot of them seem to have very little content. Is there any chance you could explain personalities more?

It grew back! And I never shaved it entirely. I only trimmed the stray hairs and the parts that were starting to stick out funny. Maybe I'll send you another picture sometime. Personally, I think I look slightly better now. But as riveting a conversation as this is, back to the topic at hand.

 

I'm probably going to end up bringing in Rambler, in one of his rare Minath-less appearances. I'll post the character sheet tomorrow. Which I guess is later today where you are.

After much careful consideration (and studying the way my sister used them)-

 

Firewhip (played by RunsWithSquirlz)- He's a strong stallion with a brave heart. Has no fear and loves to take challenges dead on. He has a soft spot for barley ale and beautiful mares. Can be overly protective of his sister Firedancer.

 

Firedancer (played by RunswithSquirlz)-She is sweet, alluring and quick to steal your money. Firedancer would play dumb and coy only to get what she wants. She enjoys flirting and getting into trouble and has no trouble breaking hearts. Firedancer makes a living performing dances with scarves and flaming hoops while her brother wows them with his beastly acts. It comes to no surprise that they are wanted in various towns for stealing hearts and money.

 

They both live in the lower class area of the waterfront.

Everyoe is accepted; on mobile, so I can't mention and quoting is hell.

The RP will start as early as tonight or as late as tomorrow, due to my hacked wifi connection being crap. :x

I forgot to ask: is this an advanced RP? If it is, I will not be participating due to the 800 character limit. If it is not an advanced RP, I am still in and willing to post until the mares come home and have violent, messy "fun" with me. Please do not judge me on the fact that I struggle to write beyond 500 characters in an RP. Thank you for taking time to read and understand this, and always remember, Russian Griffon is never sober.

Nah, it's not gonna be advanced; I wanted it to be, but that limits the amount of "banter" between characters.

If you don't write more than about 500, that's still fairly good, but expect upwards of a thousand from me. Whatever your play-style is. c:
