Equestria Games: Shouldn't Ponyville have won the games?

This got me thinking, since Rainbow Dash is apparently the "fastest flier in all of Equestria" then in the last stretch of the race, shouldn't she have beaten Spitfire, since she hates losing?

Aslo, Spike and Shining Armor need a microphone to talk or sing in the stadium that large because if they didn't nopony could here them, unless they have like a clip on mic or something? :P

Rainbow Dash is just a braggart, she may be fast, she may even be the fastest amateur flier, but she was going up against Spitfire, a Wonderbolt, an elite, trained, top tier flier. Rainbow may be fast, but not the fastest, despite her boasting. Plus, having Ponyville win gold in every event, especially the race, would be a little boring.

they did win the Games. they narrowly beat cloudsdale in the medal count, which is apparently where it really counts.

Isn't that because there're also Bulk Biceps and Fluttershy in the team, two average fliers?

It would have been rather cliche to have the home team win all medals, and win gold in every event. Rainbow is not a professional stunt flyer like Spitfire,so it would make some sense that she would loose in a race,Spitfire could have also started a few milliseconds before Rainbow, and thus her lead. But it would have been very cliche had she won, and had ponyville gotten gold in every event.

Personally, It didn't affect my enjoyment of the episode. For me, either results would have been good because I already think it's bad that Ponyville beat Manehattan, Canterlot (with crazy tycoons like Fancypants and Blueblood with loads of bit to throw at their favorite athletes) and other cities. Even the Crystal Empire.

Spoilers because it's off topic...

Personaly I think it's stupid to have Ponyville as a focal point in the region. It looks much more like Ponyville would be under Canterlot's administrative region, for example. Assuming there are smaller villages that are under these metropolis. But it's my headcanon speaking too loud here.

But hey... No biggie... Let the underdog win... It doesn't hurt the plot.

I think Rainbow has the greatest potential, but she still has a lot to learn. Not unlike Twilight. Like putting the best sports car in the hand of a novice driver. So I'm glad she actually lost.

Since Shining's voice seemed like it was amplified, I felt like the stadium had some sort of enchantment. Which is cool. MLP needs more imagination in the usage of magic. Like Mag-Lev trains... You know... Magical Levitation bullet trains.  ^_^

For dumb, self-important fics about mythology, ponies and fascist griffons that can't figure friendship out.

And I'm just getting started.

Didn't she start out behind(due to her team) or am I just misremembering things?

Could explain why she couldn't summon up the energy for a final rush(because we've seen Dash move way faster).

Also, for those saying "of course she wouldn't beat a pro s

"I think Rainbow has the greatest potential, but she still has a lot to learn. Not unlike Twilight. Like putting the best sports car in the hand of a novice driver. So I'm glad she actually lost."

As a flier... no she's doesn't. She's been confirmed as the fastest pony in Equestria earlier, and both she and Lightning Dust crushed all the records in the Wonderbolt Academy. She's not a "great potential", she's an "already dicovered super talent yet to reach her peak".

It's a bad comparison. Think more along the lines of putting a more talented but less experienced(but still plenty experienced) driver in a faster car. That lack of experience may cost you now and then- but the young competitor has a clear advantage.

There's never been any indication Spitfire was anywhere near comparable in speed to Dash. I'm willing to allow acrobatics, and a fair bit of the race was about that instead, so Spitfire winning isn't that bad.
