The Coffee Pony 1,390 May 19, 2014 Share May 19, 2014 Trek needs a new TV series. Enterprise started to find its legs and then they cancelled it with the biggest middle finger of a finale I've ever seen in and out of the genre. A new series set many decades into the future from Voyager would be perfect. You just might get it in the form of Star Trek Renegades. It's going to be submitted to CBS as a TV-Movie pilot. Kay Dreamer 884 May 19, 2014 Share May 19, 2014 (edited) Massive TNG fan over here! I adore Star Trek. I see it as a really positive and hopeful glimpse into the kind of future we are all capable of building, if we put aside our differences and work to make the word better. So much sci-fi literature is bleak and dystopian and Star Trek really rails against that. It's optimism incarnate. I love it. TNG is my favourite, as it's really the truest example of Roddenberry's original vision for the show. The Enterprise will always be a vessel of diplomacy and discovery to me. Her name is not that of a warship. (And the Enterprise D is my favourite design. Inside and out. I love the beige bridge.) Also, I know a lot of fans don't like it, but the kids on board don't bother me. I think such a risk should be the decision of the parents. (And from a childhood psychology angle, risks aside; it's way better for children to grow up spending time with their parents than it is for them to be constantly left behind. I'm sure such an advanced human society took that into account, hence why parents could elect to bring their children on the ship.) Antidaeophobia 299 May 21, 2014 Author Share May 21, 2014 @Kay Dreamer I completely agree. I think having the families on board was interesting. Of course I always wondered about the kids whose parents died, but still remained on the Enterprise. Were they 'communally' raised, or adopted by other crew members. Were there many children in that society that needed adopted, like we have now, or is there couples looking to adopt but not enough kids available because their aren't alot of 'unwanted' or abandoned children. Personally, I always thought Data should have adopted a human child. He'd be a great father as demonstrated by his interactions with children in the past. I always loved Star Trek best because even though in that universe, humans can pretty much have whatever they want; be it possessions, food, or education and travel. They dont have to worry about stds, money, housing, or poverty. I always found it incredible they managed to control themselves and live a simple lifestyle. I hate the outfits though! Wingnut 7,050 May 21, 2014 Share May 21, 2014 OK, I must confess that I am not a Trekkie. But I know a thing or two about Star Trek. Resistance is futile and Q was one of my favorite recurring characters, among other things. I've noticed countless Tribbles references over the years, including the parasprites. And I can almost make that live long and prosper gesture with my hand. And I'm surprised @Lightning Bliss hasn't chimed in yet. She's a Brony who is married to a Trekkie. They have the best of both worlds.

We're basically two different franchises, united together in union. The Brony Wife and the Trekkie husband hehe. That's why I didn't join here cause it says "Trekkie Bronies Assemble" but I'm just a Brony, not a trekkie. I admit I watch the show from time to time with my husband, it's got entertainment value. He doesn't care for the MLP FIM show however. But ironically we had recently adopted two new rat pets and this is what we named them: "Q" - by my husband and, Discord - by yours truely. Together they make the "Delancie Brothers" lol Discord being my favorite cartoon character of all time, and Q being my favorite character in Star Trek next generation, it just went together like apple pie. This doesn't make me a Trekkie Brony though just cause I'm married to a Trekkie.... does it?
