  1. Very nice! I like the detail that went into the fireplace. Coloring this would make it look even better. I like the idea of adding yourself into this picture. Keep up the good work!
  2. Thanks! I was originally going to just do a blue sky background, but wanted to change things up a bit. The lighting was a bit tricky to do but I really like the result. The background is really just 5 lines of color blurred together with a yellow circle blurred in the middle. Nothing really fancy here
  3. You're very welcome . It's just good that I made your day better ^^. Thanks! Yeah hoofprints would've been a good idea. He had to get there somehow .
  4. Wanted to draw a winter picture, but didn't know of which pony. So, in the spirit of giving I chose the OC of Zygen, who has been drawing a ton and improving a lot on these forums. Consider this my random act of kindness . Dunno why, but I REALLY like this one. Maybe it's the background or Zygen's OC. This is also my first time drawing anybody other than the mane 6. Either way, I had a lot of fun drawing this and experimenting with drawing techniques.
  5. Haven't drawn anything in a few days so I took some time to draw Celestia. Wings are the hardest for me to grasp hold of. Also didn't know how to make the mane shiny so i just threw some luminosity on there. I also didn't notice how pink she was until I was done. Enjoy! Practiced some Twilight and lighting. I still shade very messily since I'm not confident in my skills to make solid shadows. Took about two and a half hours. After watching the new episode I just HAD to draw Dash in the Wonderbolt training uniform. Wings are still a sore spot for me, as well as shading. It all looks very messy to me. Oh well. Hopefully when I get my tablet it'll look better. Decided to draw AJ after watching the latest episode. This was also my fastest drawing yet, taking about an hour total. I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of this
  6. Sketching is the first thing you should do to start a drawing. It's a lot easier to fix a sketch before you draw the outline so you have a vague idea of where to draw. I've attached a sketch that I did for my recent drawing. It doesn't look perfect, and a few things were changed, namely adding a cutie mark, her horn, moving her left hoof into a salute and adding goggles. But the sketch gave me a basic idea on how to draw the body. Some people draw sketches with normal sized brushes at lowered density. I just do it with a very thin brush. Canvas size also helps. I happen to do mine in 5000x5000 with around a 9 brush size for the outline brush and size 4 for the sketches. Hope this helped a little!
  7. Vectors are essentially lines that don't get pixelated when you make the picture bigger or smaller. It's also a lot easier to get straight and curved lines with a vector/line tool. In my opinion I like free-hand drawing more because each person develops a style, but if you're going for show-accurate you'll want to use vectors.
  8. Looks amazing! Really like the texture you gave the mane. The only tips I have to give is to keep drawing with the tablet. It will get much easier to do once you start getting used to it. However, I use mouse and keyboard so I don't know any proper tips with tablets.
  9. Looks very good! How many layers do you use? It's a lot easier to work with individual pieces if it's in several layers. For example you could have a layer for mane outline, one for mane color, one for body outline, one for body color, etc. When I draw ponies I end up with 20-30 layers depending on if I use a background or not. Keep up the good work! Really see you improving a lot from your first drawing.
  10. Hello everybody! This was my submission to the Artist Training Grounds over on Equestria Daily. I discovered so many things about SAI that makes shading SO much easier. However, I was wondering if there's a way to make filling in solid colors easier. I use the magic wand tool and highlight whatever I want to color, then color it in a separate layer. This leaves a white pixel border around everything I color in and I have to go back and fix it. Is there some easier way that people color things in that I don't know about? Thanks!
  11. I don't know if it's just me, but I don't see anything . Maybe edit your post and add it as an attachment. I'm sure we would all like to see it
  12. I see tons of improvement from you! I know that feel of drawing with a mouse because it's convenient, since I use a mouse too. Wings are very hard to draw so it's fine. I see that you left the body outline that's supposed to be behind the wings. I would erase that. I like seeing your progress in drawing. Can't wait to see more!
  13. Looks fantastic! Great improvement over the original. I can see how the eye would be a problem with their roundness and the squareness of Minecraft. In my opinion you should try AJ next. Her hair is pretty similar to Dash's. Or do whatever you feel like is fun. You're the artist and you can do whatever you want. Can't wait to see more
  14. This is awesome for doing it from scratch! I don't know if you want a critique or not, but I'll give you one anyways. I think it would be more recognizable if it was more detailed. Perhaps bigger and more blocks. Minecraft isn't really the best for art unless it's pixel-art or extremely big and pixelated. Her right ear is missing as well, since that goes in front of the hair. You got the basic pony head shape spot-on, but the mane is a little off. Usually the blue, green and purple hairs go down her back. I would look at some rainbow dash sprites to get an idea of where the pixels/blocks go. Great job for a first image! Haven't seen much Minecraft pony art lately. Maybe next try Twilight's head
  15. Awesome work! I know how it feels to start up drawing again. The only problem is the mane is a little square in the neck area. It's much better in the third drawing, though. Keep up the great work!
  16. Really nice looking! I really like the style you got going there. I could learn a lot from you in the shading department. Looking forward to seeing more uploads.
  17. Thanks! I have no idea why the first one looks so 2D. Might be the background. I guess I could do requests. Give me a reference picture and a pose and I could try my best at it. I'll draw them when I have time, what with sports, symphony and homework to work on.
  18. Merged this post into the first one. This used to contain the fluttershy drawing, but I decided it would be better for all my art to be in the first post. More organized that way.
  19. Thanks, haha. Ponies inspired me to start drawing. I made about 7 drawings and sketches over the last two days to practice but these two are the ones I'm most proud of. I ordered a bamboo splash tablet so hopefully that'll fix the wobbly lines. Thanks for the feedback!
  20. Nice picture! Especially with crayons. Her left eye looks a little small, but I guess you can't help that with crayons being permanent. Looking forward to see more.
  21. Turning this into my general art gallery! All drawn using mouse and keyboard. Never really drawn anything before, but ponies inspired me to start doing art. Critiques are very appreciated! 12/3/12 12/4/12 12/5/12 12/9/12 12/10/12 12/15/12
