I personally use Paint Tool SAI. If you want a free alternative many people use GIMP. Basically anything with layering will help with drawing. Remember, practice makes perfect!

Oh, yeah. I never noticed that. I always do it in my colored drawings since it separates the colors but i guess in these I keep forgetting to put a line under the horn. Yes the derp face was intentional. Glad it made you laugh . I always do my drawings on 5000x5000 and crop it in the very end. I like having more workspace for more detailed lines. Thanks for the critique!

And it's done! I changed up the pose mid-drawing so it took a little longer than usual. Also, stallion heads are weird to draw. Hope you like it! I also experimented with different wings on your OC. Hope you like the end result. Thanks everyone for the support! I'm having fun drawing these and seeing that you like them makes me feel better about my beginner's drawing skills.

30 Rock Ponies - Kenneth Parcell's Ponysona
Drahgoon replied to ~Master~ Button Mash's topic in Visual Fan Art
Very nice for an original vector. As for critique, the ears seem a little off. I don't know why, but they don't look right. The eyes are also vertical. Pony eyes are a little slanted backwards in a diagonal direction. His back half also seems a little long and a tiny bit high up. That's about it for my critiques. Even if you don't fix anything it looks completely fine! Keep doing what you do and have fun with it! -
Love it! I really like your drawing style. I think the longer legs looks just fine. Everyone else already said any other criticisms so I'll just say keep drawing more!

Very nice for a quick doodle. The only big thing I notice is that her snout is a little far out, which makes her chin longer. Other than that, everything looks great! Keep drawing and you'll make better proportions in no time.
-
Very good for first drawings! I see you've got a style going there. I agree that there's a few detail mistakes but I can still see you put a lot of time into them. Great work!

Here you go! I really liked drawing this one. Didn't know if you wanted camo or not so I went with no camo. Message me if you need anything changed. Couldn't think of an adorable manner, so I just drew her eating a cookie. I must say the mane on her threw me off a bit. It still doesn't look that great. Hope you're happy regardless. Here she is! Hope you like it. I didn't know if the ear was a mistake or not but I assumed it was intentional. Gladly! I had spare time and I like drawing these things. Hope you like it!

Huh. I didn't notice that. Very observant of her! I went and fixed it really quick. Tell me if she says I forgot anything else haha.

Done. Really like your OC design! Took a little longer than I thought to make this. Hope you like it! Message me if you need anything changed

Hello everyone! I'd like to practice drawing ponies, but it gets boring just drawing for myself. I decided I want to start doing lineart requests. I don't have a lot of time for fully colored and shaded drawings nowadays. Lineart is fun and quick to do, only about 10 minutes per drawing. Because of this, they might not be the neatest drawings either. The only restriction is it must be pony. I don't fell comfortable doing humans yet. Have fun! Got any tips on drawing?
Drahgoon replied to Blinding Light's topic in Photo Finish's Magics (Visual Art)
Don't get me wrong, drawing with a mouse IS possible. I drew with a mouse for about 2 months before I got a tablet. If you check my art thread you can see my mouse artwork, except for the very last post. It just takes a lot more time and it doesn't look as smooth. However, it still looks like pony and with practice you can become very good with the mouse. -
Got any tips on drawing?
Drahgoon replied to Blinding Light's topic in Photo Finish's Magics (Visual Art)
I know very few digital artists who use a mouse. The ones who do use a mouse usually use it for coloring. If you have a scanner, you could draw the outline of what you want on paper first, scan it into an art program and color it. I don't know if that's possible in Gimp though, since I don't use it. Digital art is definitely easier to do with a drawing tablet. As said above, practice is the most important part of getting good at art. -
Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle Griffonized
Drahgoon replied to Auroracuno's topic in Visual Fan Art
Very interesting. I like it! Haven't seen good griffonized mane 6 in awhile. Nice clear lines and good design. The only very minor problem is the wobbly lines in some places. Otherwise, it's perfect! I heartily recommend doing the other mane 6. -
Finished it. Didn't know what pose you wanted so I just did a generic one. Didn't take very long to do. Hope you like it! If you need anything changed just message me.
-
I could try drawing him. Any specific pose you want him in? Stallion heads are a bit of a trouble spot for me so it may take at most a day.
-
Came up with a genius pose for this request so I had to draw it. Took about 2 hours to do. Found out stallion heads are very hard to draw. Hope you like it! Tell me if you need anything changed and I can change it.
-
I'll give it a shot. I'll post it here if I get it done. Check my most recent post on my thread if you want to see my style. Give me at most a day.

Hello and welcome to the forums! Pretty awesome for being made from scratch! However there are some odd proportions that can be fixed. The front leg is too thin and the hind leg is too thick. The nose/snout is a little far out. The eyes and ear could be a little bigger and more round. Her mane goes a little far out and it should cover the top part of her head. These are just some little things I see at the moment. It's still very good and I can tell that you put a lot of work into it. Keep at it!

Drahgoon's Journey Through Art - Updated 12/29/12
Drahgoon replied to Drahgoon's topic in Visual Fan Art
Thank you! Encouragement like this is what keeps me drawing. Thanks! I can definitely see improvement from my old drawings, even though it hasn't been all that long. Also, good news everypony! My tablet finally arrived after being delayed a few days because of heavy snowfall in our area. I never would have gotten this into drawing if it wasn't for all the encouragement these forums have given me. I drew this up quickly to say thanks for everything you guys have done for me. Look forward to more drawings to come! -
Drahgoon's Journey Through Art - Updated 12/29/12
Drahgoon replied to Drahgoon's topic in Visual Fan Art
Thanks! I know you'll get better as time goes on. Good practice would be doing the artist training ground challenges on Equestria Daily every Tuesday/Wednesday. They give valuable practice as well as a subject to draw. This drawing started out as a sketch, but the more I drew the more I liked it. The head was the hardest thing to draw, since this is an awkward angle that I don't usually see in the show. Enjoy! -
Very nice! I like the Fluttershy drawing the best. At first I thought this was on a drawing tablet, but I was surprised to see it was on a mobile tablet. The only criticism I have is that the legs on your OC are a bit big. Looking forward to seeing more!
-
Really nice! Very unique style you got going there. I honestly can't find much wrong with it. The only minor thing that I can see is that Bon Bon's right hind-leg should be in front of her belly at this angle. Otherwise good job! Can't wait to see more.

If you want a permanent link you can post your picture to a DeviantArt account. All you would need to do then is add an attachment on a post to your picture. You can do that by right clicking on the picture in your gallery and clicking "copy image URL". Then, paste that URL into an attachment or with the image button on these forum posts. Hope that helps!

Very nice for a first drawing! If it's based off of your avatar then I would make the pupil a bit bigger and the ear bigger. Looking forward to seeing the finished drawing!
