      ^ C.B. hit the nail on the head. And I think this is effective because many members of the fandom are highly impressionable. They want to be a part of the "herd," and you can't do that if you don't fit in to some degree. I think that's unfair to do to anyone, regardless of how I feel about the fandom as a whole.
