Rainbow Dash Derpy Heads up for those who missed them last time. Don't pay huge amounts on eBay like I did for these figures. Not sure if they fixed any color issues this time around. Would like to think that they gave Rainbow Dash magenta eyes and no blue on the top of her mane, cutie marks on both sides, etc., but odds aren't high.

Boy, oh boy, do I feel stupid. I finally caved and bought her for $50 yesterday on eBay. Out of couriousity, I noticed that the auctions for her today are large and that nobody's bidding. I check Hot Topic, and I see that she's finally back in stock. Had I waited a single day, I could have gotten her $35 cheaper. My first ever pony merchandise I buy for myself, and it totally and utterly betrays me in every way. Haha. At least I feel better knowing that I didn't pay the $100+ I saw people bidding for it on eBay. Curse you, Hot Topic! Why was your customer service so vague and negative and stuff?? .____.;

On eBay, the Christmas madness seems to have died down. However, I notice that one particular bidder is bidding on quite a bit of Derpys. Probably plans to sell them all for $20 more the day he/she gets them. I won't give up, though. At the Hot Topics, there's no luck. She's not anywhere near me anymore. The people around here know collectibles when they see them, unfortunately. v_v; At the collector stores I've been frequenting, it's absolute madness. I've been asking collectors to call whenever they aquire a Derpy. However, a particular large man usually shows up just before and exits with her seconds before. (I'm not 100% sure, and I could be jumping to conclusions, but I'm almost certain that it's this eBay user, after always seeing the same man buy her just before I get the chance, and eerily see another Derpy online less than a few hours after from the same location: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MLP-FUNKO-Derpy-Hooves-Vinyl-figure-My-Little-Pony-/181052659778?pt=TV_Movie_Character_Toys_US&hash=item2a27945842) Yesterday, I asked my bf to go get her, because he was much closer. It was being sold for $60 in the shop. He picked her up and was ready to buy her (I would pay him after.). However, he told me that a large man (Perhaps the same one? Maybe I'm just looking for a good, singular villain in all this madness. x_x) snatched her right out of his hands, and threatened my bf with violence after he objected. The shop owner, who only caught a glimpse of the problem, determined that the man got Derpy first instead. Felt really bad for my bf, who went there to be harassed like that over a toy that was only $14.50 a couple of months ago. v__v It's a mad world, online and offline. And I've learned this because I just can't give up on that vinyl figure.

I tried asking my parents for a Rainbow Dash plush...*hangs head*
Aurum replied to DoctorWhovian1902's topic in Merchandise
Parents will always be one generation behind. I sometimes go to Disney stores to look at the pretty toys. After Wreck-It Ralph came out with all its merchandise, I've seen a common theme unfold: -Dad sees these giant "Wreck-It Ralph Hands" (http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Wreck-It-Ralph-Exclusive-Smash/dp/B009U1VSKQ), tells his son that he thinks they're cool. -Son is disinterested, and asks if there's any of Vanellope. (Of course there isn't, kid! I would know! I've been desperate to see figures of her in person!) I swear, I've seen the exact same thing happen like three or four times. It's eerie. It's always those giant hands, too. .___. Maybe buy them a download of the Bronies documentary? Of course, if they think you're the only one who likes it, they might not get the appeal. But if they know that the show is so popular with adults that it's got its own documentary, then it could give them some perspective. Not sure you'll get them to completely change their minds, but it's worth a shot. -
Personally, my biggest problem collector toy is still the Derpy Vinyl Collectible. I gave up looking for her cheaper than $60 on eBay when all the bidding became greater than $100 over Christmas. Realized instead that it would much better to go to collectible shops in the area, and have each shop call whenever someone would sell Derpy, and drive over every time a call was received. A few days ago, she was being sold at one location for $25, but I missed out because of work. Later, I saw a bid up on eBay from the exact city for a starting bid of $170 and a Buy It Now of $200. (I saw nobody bid on it.) Coincidence? I would hope so. I don't want to think that someone took a $25 item and hoped to squeeze $175 out of it. Today, I got a call I could not go, so I asked a friend to see if he could get it right after they called. He said that as he entered, he saw a man exiting the store with a Derpy. Just my luck. And I happen to see another eBay listing for the vinyl figure priced at $130 from the same city. - We will meet someday, Derpy! Ahem, er, anyway...I really hope Hasbro realizes that many bronies are missing out. If people are that willing to pay hundreds of dollars on collectible items that are not available in stores, then Hasbro is seriously losing out.

movies/tv What old cartoons would you like to see return?
Aurum replied to Skullbuster's topic in Media Discussion
Funnily enough, as trailers for the 2009 G.I. Joe movie came out, I thought, "Why can't something like My Little Pony have a cool reboot?" I was thinking in lines of a PG-13 movie, like Transformers and said G.I. Joe, but this series has definitely been a better substitute. Not quite sure that I'd want a reboot, so to speak. One would be risking losing the goodness of the original series. The only reboots I'd want would be of appealling, poor-quality shows. But I can't think of anything right now. Series that I would want brought back from the grave would have to be Samurai Jack and Sym-Bionic Titan. They need proper conclusions. In the case of Sym-Bionic Titan, it had so much potential that was cut off too soon. On second thought, bring back everything that was awesome that didn't have a proper ending. -
Thanks for your advice, Meirno! Just keeping an eye on the prices on eBay. They're escalating to $80 in bids on the site. x__x; I sure hope most of it blows over when Christmas is out of the way. I see that you're located in New York. I'm located in Orange County in California, and all the 16 Hot Topics called in the area say no Derpy or even Rainbow Dash. Must be a lot of collectors over here. In the meantime, I'll just wait it out for a nice Brony looking to make a small profit on an extra Derpy and not one looking for $160. :0

Yes! I love Derpy! Overrated? She deserves it! ;P I love what this fandom does to background characters. Reminds me of Matt from Death Note. The guy barely had any lines, and barely appeared, but the amount of fanart dedicated to him was amazing. :0 But this fandom's background ponies are even more amazing. Bronies sure know how to get the ball rolling with background characters. And thank you for the welcome, Concord!

My favorite anime series will always be Serial Experiments Lain. I also absolutely love anything ever directed by Satoshi Kon. (Millenium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, Paranoia Agent, Paprika, etc.) Also, the classics that were always aired on adult swim. Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Samurai Champloo, etc. Been watching things on Netflix recently. Mushi-Shi was very good, but often very sad. Princess Tutu was really, really amazing. Got into putting Soul Eater on while doing art homework. It's nice, but I don't usually like getting too into anime based on manga. 1) It might not end. 2) It might have to end with a vague ending because the manga's been going on for too long. I still get joy when watching Sailor Moon. Especially Sailor Moon S and Sailor Stars. I'm looking forward to the remake, but I'm more looking forward to the chance of a faithful redub of the 90s show.

Long story short: I was under a rock when the Hot Topic vinyl collectibles were being sold back in October. Rainbow Dash is still fairly cheap (Successfully sent an offer for $28 for one last night. Nearly double the Hot Topic price, but it was the best I could get at that point, as it's for my brony boyfriend's birthday in a little over a week, and not for me.), but Derpy's going for a lot more. Bids are getting as high as $53 on eBay. (Maybe Christmas madness that'll die down in a few days?) Head quarters was called for Hot Topic. They said it was sold out everywhere, and its unknown if they'll get more in stock. Advice Question: Should I risk waiting, or suck it up and bid higher than I'd like to on eBay? I really want her. She is extremely adorable. I usually hold my wallet back when looking at collectibles, but I can't resist. Has anyone heard anything from other sources, like if Derpy would be available again when Fluttershy and Dr. Whooves come out? Or if Derpy was definitely a limited edition? Thank you for reading!

These are amazing! I love the shading style on many of your works, particularly those of your Ponysona and that of Twilight and Derpy. They have an appealling flat look to them. I love the choice of purple shadows for each. You have a fantastic range of artwork!

Hello! I'm Aurum, and I'm currently majoring in art in Southern California. I love watching FiM. I introduced my boyfriend to the series, and now he's a brony. It convinced me to finally buy some pony merchandise (A Rainbow Dash vinyl from Hot Topic on eBay) for his birthday on New Year's Eve. I do like the direction the merchandise is finally going. Unfortunately, I was caught off-guard and never got the Derpy counterpart before it sold out and became extremely expensive on eBay. ;P Nevertheless, I shall not give up! This isn't my first time as a pony fan. When I was little, I had several G2 ponies (Sky Skimmer, Ivy, Light Heart, etc.), and a CD-Rom game called "Friendship Gardens" that I played to death. Here's my dA (Warning: No ponies. Yet.): http://aurum-femina.deviantart.com/
