  1. Just posted my second topic. "First reactions to Discord" check it out if you've got a minute.

  2. There you go! I think there's room for both opposites and kindred spirits. I couldn't date someone like Rainbow Dash, don't get me wrong, she's cool and there's no denying she's a badass! I just can't see myself in a romantic relationship with someone like her. Whenever I met, and even tried to engage girls that were my opposite, it never goes anywhere. When I met a girl with whom I shared much in common, we hit it off almost immediately. Oh and congratulations! I hope it works out between you two.
  3. Could you possibly make one of Celestia's Guards, Fancypants, or Captain Storm Wing from "Through the Eyes of Another Pony? If that's not too much trouble that is.
  4. Could you point out this thread to me? I'm new, so I wasn't here for that. As for Rarity, she's pretty much dead even with Fluttershy in the crush department for me. Agreed. That's what my point was from the beginning. (Not saying that in the Pinkie:"HEY! That's what I said!" sense. Just pointing it out.) Opposites attract? Maybe you like other qualities Trixie has. For all her boasting, she IS legitimately gifted at magic. She's also an entertainer, she glows with the glamour of show business. No denying there's some appeal to that. I hear ya. I've done the same thing. Hell I'm writing a goddamn story in the hopes of some consolidation with these feelings.
  5. Nothing new to report.

Posting the same thing over and over again within a short space of time in an effort to keep it on the front page of the site.

Oh I would never do that! Thank you for informing me. Really, I've already had loads of fun on this site. Thanks a lot!

No problem. Glad you're enjoying my site!

  7. When Discord's introductory scene ended. My reaction was something along the lines of . . . . Data: "Ooooooh shit!" I don't normally like to curse, but nothing seemed to underscore my feelings better. Discord took me by surprise, he wasn't scary per se, but he was very unnerving. He actually is very much like his oft mentioned sci-fi counterpart Q, and THAT'S what makes him scary. Dragons, Cockatrices, Hydras, Diamond Dogs (trolls really) they all have rules or weaknesses like in legends or fables. Post-singularity creatures like the Q Continuum are so advanced that any "rules" that do apply to them, only they know about. After seeing the ponies beat conventional fantasy monsters, Discord almost seemed out of context. The background music, his mask of amicability, his uncanny knowledge of the mane 6, Celestia close to panicking. Discord almost pranced around the ponies using the stain glassed windows for visual humor like we would use Powerpoint. With the echoing voice, it was less like Discord was where they were seeing him and more like the whole chamber had become his "presence" and he was using the windows as a courtesy to his "audience." What did it for me was when Discord was just able to erase the ponie's wings and horns without even being there. I don't know why, but it disturbed me on a deep level. The Mane 6 don't "fight" in the conventional sense, they overcome their enemies either by compromise, outsmarting them, or with raw magic. Discord had no intention of stopping, he was deviously cunning, and was powerful enough to simply take night and day away from Luna and Celestia. He subjected the Mane 6 to a game for the hell of it and they were completely at his mercy for the duration, separating and breaking them one by one. The scariest part? He was just PLAYING with them! He could have stopped the biggest threat to him from the beginning as he did with Fluttershy. Never have I seen the heroes of a story try to resist a villain that so utterly "beyond" themselves. Maybe I'm overeacting, many fans treat Discord like the greatest thing for the show since Rarity's whining. What were your guys impressions?
  8. Not a lot of footage to support it really. Many just say those two would like each other. Fluttershy is easily excitable and gets nervous easily (like she suffers from sensory overload) Big Macintosh is patient and calm, so he wouldn't intimidate her. That's just the common thought. I ship Steelquill x Fluttershy too. As for why those two are shipped with everypony else. Can't say, perhaps because relationships would be a natural extension to Twilight's friendship study and Rainbow Dash just seems like the kind of girl that gets around. (To some! That's not how I view her.)
  9. Not a bad idea necessarily, but it would have to be done right. The same how Derpy was named and voiced but the episode's plot was about Applejack. Perhaps just a quick "Allon-sy!" before galloping off. Or maybe even show the TARDIS in the background. Just a quick sort of cameo as opposed to a full blown crossover. (If you thought the fandom went nuts over Derpy, think of what would happen if they got David Tennant to voice him and he said his catchphrase.)
  10. I need some advice. I was thinking of undertaking my first true fan-fiction. Not only that, it would be my first attempt at serious storytelling. I've written a few short stories but nothing like this. Should I try it?

Eeeyup, after all nothing bad will come of it.

Maybe start off with a relatively short one piece.

Perhaps less IS more. I was thinking of writing something like a MLP/INCEPTION crossover. Maybe I could get that point across without making it a whole caper plot? (Though in MY stories case it's thwart the caper.)

  11. I would like to think that Steelquill would be my pony name in Equestria.
  12. I meant one you wouldn't mind being in a romantic relationship yourself. Not saying you need one! I was just wondering.
  13. That would be cute. Out of all the shipping that DOES go on, that one does make the most sense in my mind. Do YOU have a pony you wouldn't mind dating? My "would date" ranking goes: 1. Fluttershy 2. Rarity 3. Pinkie 4. Twilight 5. Applejack 6. Dash Thank you SO MUCH for that advice! EQUESTRIA HERE I COME!
  14. Good use of "mask" terminology, sounds like you're right in the ball park of Jung's "gold in the shadow" theory. Thanks for that, I was just a bit confused with myself and gambled consolidation versus banishment when I posted this. (Which is interestingly, my shadow self. I can take a "leap of faith" because I believe in a higher power, but I don't play with dice or chance.) I envy you somewhat for having such dream recall. I have dreamed of the ponies since I started watching, but my memories are like blurry still-shots, lacking focus or context. Those two are MADE for each other.
  15. I need some advice. Not to demand help, I would just like a second opinion. I was thinking of undertaking my first true fan-fiction. Not only that, it would be my first attempt at serious storytelling. I've written a few short stories but nothing like this. Should I try it?

If you are comfortable with your writing style, I guess. If not, keep writing short until you feel you got it right.

Oh I'm perfectly comfortable with HOW I write, the WHAT is the problem. The length and content is a bit daunting. I've been reading "It's a Dangerous Business Going Out Your door" and have heard it (accurately) described as "My Little Pony as written by Tolkien" and had an idea for something similar.

  16. Self narration FTW! (That's actually how I make up the dialogue for my writing.) Hey! The thread is called "Pony Romance" not "Who would you sleep with." If I was able to give Fluttershy a kiss, I would be content. Thanks for posting. I still can't believe I haven't been banned to a moon thread for this!
  17. An interesting thing to consider. Perhaps if a pony went through a massive change in their fundamental personality. Like Pinkie going goth, or Fluttershy becoming a hunter. (Note how these aren't really GOOD changes in personality. Not that hunting itself is bad, but it's definitely subversive to Fluttershy's nature.)
  18. If they did try to make a Celestia episode, she could try disguising herself as a regular pony and befriend Twilight and the other Mane Six. One interesting trick to pull would be to NOT have that revealed at the end. The new pony leaves town with a goodbye and Twilight writes her report none the wiser. (Even wilder, perhaps not even the audience knows for sure up until the end!) I know, I felt so sorry for her. I've met a princess before, and though I tried my best to be respectful, I also tried not to be a stiff. (Though I do understand a bit where they're coming from. I was shaking in my highly shined shoes and her majesty was not a sun goddess!) Maybe the reason Celestia takes a personal protege, assuming Twilight isn't the first, is to have a friend as much as a student.
  19. I agree with BOTH the above. You should love and invest energy in the one you love, but you also want to make sure your efforts are appreciated. For a (very) short term version, see Rarity and Blueblood. Rarity was putting forth all the effort to at least get him interested but he cared for nothing but himself and his own image. Obviously it was one party not a long term relationship, but the idea is the same. I've had one girlfriend so far, I loved her with all my heart and still do. I preferred to spend time with her for the same reason previously mentioned, there's no place more comfortable in the world than in the arms of a woman who loves you. A man, a REAL man appreciates the woman who chooses to spend time with and confide in him. Forget what I said! That's the best explanation right there! Funny to mention though, up until recently, one could almost say that Spike was "whipped."
  20. I still think the idea is pretty badass. Hay, you even gave the statistics! I always like it when somepony suggests something crazy awesome and actually knows what they are talking about. Brohoof! /)*
  21. The Orbital Friendship Cannon was not my idea, I was quoting somepony else. Though I do think such a weapon would be awesome (future soldier here), you're right. The last thing the world needs right now is space artillery with "friendship" squiggled on it. My idea was an artificially constructed island, named Equestria. People could visit or even live there!
  22. Wouldn't solve anything? A society of enterprising, ambitious, idealistic, creative, and talented individuals is just what the world needs. We'd have cancer cured in a year!
  23. This is even better than my idea of creating an artificial island and calling it Equestria . . . FUND IT!
