  1. Hey I've made some newer projects and have improved since last time, but if you're still around I have another question or two. Namely, how do you solve clipping issues? I can never seem to get my stuff to be an appropriate volume or if it is, it clips too much. Also, if you use vocals in your stuff, any suggestions of good editing, cutting, tuning, or clipping software? Other than that, I've listened to your advice and I've loved making pieces out of feelings. Thanks again for the advice!
  2. Thanks! Yeah, repetition tends to be my problem with songs... Right now, I need to work on getting more sounds like a new VST (like Massive) and then I will have more variety to choose from. Thanks for the feedback!
  3. Hey, I came out with a new song. I was going to have vocal chops in it, but they proved too infuriating for the time limit I had, so I improvised. Head on over to my channel, Omniotronic, give a like, subscribe, and comment if you want. Thanks!
  4. Just as a disclaimer, the vocals used are not mine. They are clips taken from the "At The Gala" song sung by the mane 6. I can't resing. I was hoping for some post-production tuning.
  5. That didn't help. It talked about how you can use the synthesizer as an auto-tune like device. Not really tuning the vocals.
  6. Would that help with the tuning? If so, can you give me a quick run through of what to do?
  7. @C. Thunder Dash No, I'm trying to have the vocals not sound a little flat as some have told me. Personally, I don't think it needs a lot of tuning, but I can't get it to work (tried using GSnap, KeroVee, AutoTalent, Pitcher, and Newtone). It either sounds distorted or it sounds more out of tune. Also the plugin Slicex does not have an auto tuning ability (to my knowledge).
  8. In FL Studio there is a sampler type plugin that I load acapellas into and chop up vowels and other snippets. I can send it to the piano roll and I use the various keys (c#5, d4, etc) to "play" the chops.
  9. Okay, I have a problem. I can add vocals to songs but everyone keeps telling me to "auto tune" them. I have no idea how to do that and when I try, it sounds even shittier. Can anypony help me out?! Bump. Anypony care to help? Vocals/Vocal Chopping is something that is hardly ever explained in detail...
  10. Hey! These forums have a non-pony artwork area... Who knew? Anywho, here is a song from March I did. Head on over, like, comment, subscribe (do do do do do do do do do sub-scribe!), etc.
  11. Wow, that tutorial was awesome! I'm checking out the demo of Zebra right now. Thanks! (I can't believe how much the gibberish turned into bass vocals)
  12. Hey, so I think I found out what stumps me most of the time in making music; post-drop melodies. I can make intros and other parts of the songs, but when it comes to the part after the drop or the buildup, I always have trouble. Are there any tips or special methods that I could use to create that part? Thanks in advance.
  13. Yeah I didn't find any VST's that expanded what I already had or had those types of sounds in the presets. Any more help would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Thanks! I'm trying out a few in a bit. The one question remains though; how to get those two sounds from the two videos above?
  15. So I have FL Studio Producer Edition. I have made about 5 or so mediocre songs. The problem is that I seem to have reached an impasse where I can't make any new sounds that I have described above. Additonally, with Dubstep/Complextro, there are a lot of unique sounds that I can't figure out how to make or how to combine seemingly different sounds together into a 4 bar melody. I have gone through most of the free vst's on FL Studio and even some others that I have downloaded like Firebird 2, but I need to know how to create those unique sounds and put them together. Thanks.
  16. Okay, so I need some help. Does anyone know of any good vst's or sample (preferably free) that sound like they could be used for a lot of different purposes? Like a good saw, square, etc? One of the problems I am running into as an amateur musician is the selection of sounds that I have. They are very limited and I don't know how to create a ton of sounds (and yes, I have looked on youtube A LOT). Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Now, onto specific sounds and examples: ArtAttack's "Remember You" in Serenity EP. At about 0:56, there is a really cool sustained note synth. I have no idea how to make that, but I would love to. I really need more synths/sounds for sustained notes. http://youtu.be/2ioMR-HGT8U Now, I am sure that most have seen or heard about Hasbro releasing digital shorts to hype up EQ2. In music to my ears, I want to know how to create most of those sounds, but specifically the "distorted organ" sounds at 0:31. http://youtu.be/qh7j1qUaGOc I may come up with more questions and post them. I can't find much help elsewhere so I thought I would turn to the loving community that I know of; you guys! Thanks for any help at all!
  17. That sounds awesome, I would join that and I know some friends that would probably like that too. I will try to search for you on Skype. It may be something like "samholman". But I have a lot of school stuff and scholarship essays going on right now, so I don't know how much I would help right now. How long have you been making music?
  18. @Winter Solstice of course! Love helping. With my vocals, I did not raise the pitch. I had different samples that had different pitches and I used them in the song. Each key in the piano roll would apply to different areas that I had marked. I am still not very good at the different pitches. You could google something like "Vocals like skrillex" and there may be some about changing the pitch and samples using the piano roll. IDK. Anyways, I hope the threads help! (Now I'm thinking about starting a tutorial on vocal chopping eventually).
  19. Alright, a new song. This time, I worked on the drums more. Here is the video, not a whole lot of description as I am getting dizzy from lack of sleep and I need to finish some work. Alright here it is:
  20. I am very, VERY new to making music and adding vocals (I should end it there), but I have dabbled a bit. Unfortunately for this conversation, I have FL Studio11 so I can't help DIRECTLY, but I will assist as much as my late-night-non-alcoholic-drink-infused-brain can! Now, I don't know if what you want is something like this?: (I did not put that up there to get publicity, just what came to mind) Or if you want something else. Is it more Techno or another genre? Is it like Alex S. or another artist? If it is not at all like Techno, then I'm sorry and this is pointless. NEVERTHELESS!!!! Now, right off the bat, I remembered two other threads that were on MyLittleRemix. This one talks about vocal chopping (in FL Studios but it's transferable) and gives some good tips: http://mylittleremix.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=6406 This one talks about Ableton Live directly so you should be in luck, although they may talk of using Audacity: http://mylittleremix.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=7345 What I have done is load an acapella song into a slicing program, cut parts that I liked (A LOT more than I used, for experimenting), and put them into a piano roll sequencer type of plugin. I did not pitch correct in a program. I have heard that it is essentially necessary, but I liked how the vocals were. Some replies were that it should have been corrected while others liked the vocals as is. I would try to correct the pitch to be on the safe side (I think they mentioned autotuning it). For adding it into my song, I added it in like any other synth. Played around with the arranging while looping some parts of the song and eventually (LOTS of experimenting) I found a 4 measure progression that worked. It wasn't too fast, but just right. Then I modified it for the other parts that would need less, more, or glitched versions of that progression. Again, I don't have a lot of experience, but this is what I have done, AS THERE IS NO TUTORIAL THAT DEFINITIVELY DEFINES HOW THE PROS DO IT! I hope I helped as much as I could, sorry about the length and psychotic tendency of late-night me, and I hope this helps!
  21. That is exactly like my friend. But I don't have a problem with them.
  22. Hey, I'm an aspriring music producer (along the lines of a hobby, not a profession). I was wondering if there are some big tips, tutorials, eye opening moments that you would care to share with me about music producing that would help. I have made a few songs, but only lukewarm to awful as a result. Sometimes I just can't get anything started or I can think of something but not build on it. Also, how many people live where you do?
  23. Yeah listening to more and more hardstyle, even some tekstyle and I realized that this genre is not for me. I will definitely use some tricks that I learned while making it on other songs, but I only liked the hardstyle that was hardly hardstyle at all. Thanks to everyone who gave me criticism! Now I'm just wondering as to if I should take this and my other bad songs off of my youtube channel and wait until I make something better...
  24. Yeah, I haven't really worked on any more of the "styles", just in between, doing a few other songs. However, I did attempt a chillstep song. I am going to put chillstep, hardstyle, general electronic, and some other genres on my EP eventually. So nothing new on that front, just trying different genres. Thanks for all the support!
  25. @repsol rave, I might. If it is softer, that might be more towards what I want. Thanks!
