MLP:FIM is unrealistic and implausible, why?
Cutelestia replied to Cutelestia's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
A little actually - a different dimension with similar names is definitely plausible and if Pinkie said, ''Let's base our investigation on Sher Clop books!'', the problem would be averted. Same with Manehattan, bu that's a lesser problem. The Groucho is the biggest mistake the creators made. It's unexplainable. -
Justin Bieber calls young fan a beached whale.
Cutelestia replied to Sunlight's topic in General Discussion
My philosophy says that you are not allowed to hate anyone, even someone who killed your mother or raped your child. Hatred is weakness. But I find the stuff Bieber does at least weird, he's destroying his image. He has a deeper voice now, and looks like a man, so if it wasn't for his attitude, he could have a wider approval now. I don't hate him or anyone else. But I don't approve what he does.- 151 replies

MLP:FIM is unrealistic and implausible, why?
Cutelestia replied to Cutelestia's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
But I like to explain stuff, I wish I had timelines or trivia about many fictional universes, like the timeline leading up to creation of Panem, in which year the world was flooded in Waterworld (Novelization said around 2000) etc. By explaining things the reader can paint a much more rich and visible universe. Blank holes, while an amazing place for fanfics, lead to too much headcanons and guessing, and then, people get mad when creators reveal that all of them were wrong. If Groucho or Holmes would be explained in MLP:FIM all Conversion Bureau fanfics would collapse. So you have to plan your fiction carefully to not leave blank spots. Anyway, it's time to go to bed. Remember about the things I told you today when you watch MLP:FIM next time. ''It's not the supernatural things that make shows unrealistic. It's the illogical things that make them unrealistic. You can have a good explanation for existence of unicorns, but if you don't explain how such animal evolved, then it's unrealistic. - Me Good night, and I send you some hugs! -
MLP:FIM is unrealistic and implausible, why?
Cutelestia replied to Cutelestia's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
We have familiar things: Human behavior, language, cuisine, culture...and that's enough. Daring Do as a parody of Indiana Jones is ok, because it's original, interesting concept, and plausible. But Sherlock Holmes reference was unexplained, too obvious, and plausibility ruining. I'm writing a Science Fantasy book, like I said before, and you wouldn't believe how many things have to be explained to make the story realistic. MLP:FIM is still a great show of this decade, I was just nitpicking. -

It will be very interesting world, and accurate, and plausible. Many people can appreciate good work. I can't ignore them. I enjoy the show, but I can easily detect inaccuraties. Not very convincing. We have to see this as a mistake, a very serious one and oemthing that writer should avoid to build a plausible world. -

MLP:FIM is unrealistic and implausible, why?

I think that you helped me to deal with it. But I think that you all deserve an explanation why I'm so nitpicking. You see, my dream is to become a famous writer in future. I want my Science Fantasy story to be as realistic as possible. I've always seen those things, and like Twilight, I like to do everything perfectly. In my opinion, even such small references can ruin the magic of world we are creating. I don't take MLP:FIM seriously, nor I want to marry Twilight - and yet I like a carefully crafted universe. If it's so popular with older people, it means that it's very well made. A carefully made universe is like a beautiful painting. But MLP:FIM, like many other shows, has a hole in this paining. When you look from the distance, you can't see it. But when you look closely, you can see the hole. I know that it's just a children show. But if details are such rich as moving manes when ponies walk, nose wrinkles, Celestia's mane, continuity, why can't the creators follow their own rules? If the rule was, ''No Humans'', then we can't include unexplainable things. I think that it would be easier to just say that Humans live on a different continent. That would solve most of our problems. -

But how do they know what Groucho is? Believe me, I wasn't the only one who noticed this, and I believe it's the biggest error. If there are supposed to be no humans, what about the Groucho's Mask nose? Now I think that they should've included humans in the show. They would be like griffons, another sentient species, and none of these problems would matter because we would have explanetion for everything. Instead, this is why fanfics like Conversion Bureau exist. -
MLP:FIM is unrealistic and implausible, why?

Foam Fingers are therefore plausible and realistic. Ok, Manehattan - Alternate Universe name, like Liberty City. Casanova - I get it, pony who was a pony version of human Casanova. Sherlock Holmes Reference - Ok, they had their own version, perhaps not even named Sherlock Holmes (Like Daring Do is a rip off of Indiana Jones but is plausible). The only way Groucho could be plausible is by ponies knowing of EG universe, where humans exist, and they don't know about it. It's an error in matrix for me and I can swallow other errors but not this one. But like I said before, I still like the show, even with errors I can spot. -

MLP:FIM is unrealistic and implausible, why?
Cutelestia replied to Cutelestia's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I know what you mean, but there is the problem - let's imagine that Twilight defeats Celestia by hitting her with her hoof. I could compare that to your Total War example, because it's implausible, but definitely possible, no matter how unlikely. But now, imagine that in your Total War, you have something which is not an easter egg, like a mission which is said to be part of World War II where you have a Portal Gun. Now that would be unrealistic. Like I said, I turn a blind eye when they use our alphabet or have the culture similar to ours, only when clear mentioning of human world appears I find it unrealistic. I just like to overanalyze everything. I like for example how GTA V is hyperrealistic. If MLP:FIm wasn't a children show but a fantasy (but serious) cartoon for adults, everyone would analyze it. That was really funny! I liked the part with dubstep! -
MLP:FIM is unrealistic and implausible, why?
Cutelestia replied to Cutelestia's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Well, I don't know if it's meant to be enitrely unrealistic. It's not MAD, which is that kind of show where nothing has to make sense. MLP:FIM has a structure, episodes form a story, and creators know that they shoul make it a little more mature for majority of fans, that is, us. Besides, the more realistic or plausible something is, the more fun it is to watch, at least for me. -
MLP:FIM is unrealistic and implausible, why?
Cutelestia replied to Cutelestia's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Well, that IS a good explanation actually. It could explain why their language is identical to us - it's just a very very big coincidence taht their universe is so similar to ours.. Though it still doesn't explain Groucho Mask, it does make some sense. I have to admit that my love for Twilight wasn't like being in love with someone - I actually wanted to become Twilight, and I still want to. Despite her flaws, she's perfect for me - Her personality is like mine, her appearance is ULTRA sexy, and her voice is even better. Mane 6 have a very realistic personalities, I understand why many bronies want to marry their favorite pony. -
What did you think of MLP before you were a Brony?
Cutelestia replied to Harmony And Rarity's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I was confused after I've heard of MLP:FIM in December 2011. I tried to fight with myself and hated the show for some time...But I tried to hide the fact that I wanted to become Twilight Sparkle. Only then I noticed that I love the show and I was so much like her. Altrough the past two years were full of tears and pain, I've accepted who I am and that I don't have to be shy because I want to be a purple unicorn. And altrough for a long time after 31.12.2011 I haven't watched any episodes - just images, memes, fanfics and poni/derpibooru, I decided to finally start watching the show. It was a bumpy ride, but 2014 is looking good. I see my reflection in Twilight and when anyone compares me to her I feel so good. -

MLP:FIM is unrealistic and implausible, why?
Cutelestia replied to Cutelestia's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I honestly don't know who the show is designed for. We are in 2010's, the age where fans have an immense influence on creators. It's obvious that without bronies, the show wouldn't look the way it looks. What would be plausible is a city similar to Manhattan (though not exactly the same or with obvious similarities) with a name like Mane City or something like that. And even fantasy stories can make sense and be realistic. (LOTR, Harry Potter) -
MLP:FIM is unrealistic and implausible, why?
Cutelestia replied to Cutelestia's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
But that's not implausible. In their universe horses evolved to be speech capable, maybe with help of magic? Like I said before, existence of magic, unicorns and stuff like that can be created as very plausible and realistic. (Rowling did it.) I usually ignore stuff such as identical cuisine to ours, language (Alphabet and language could've been created by a bipedal species), because we need to at least relate to them. In some adult shows like Star Trek, humanlike species have a good explanation, common ancestor. Thanks to this explanation aliens can be realistic. Problems arise when ponies have too clear references to our world which creates unexplainable problems such as Groucho Mask. The only way MLP:FIM could be realistic is if it was a post-apocalyptic world with humans extinct, (Or a planet created by humans for the children, like a Disneyland) which was the basis of many fanfics with Lyra as protagonist. -
