Cultural appropriation is a VERY real societal problem. For example, the Native-American community has a long history of having their culture being treated as a costume (i.e., the headdress). To say cultural appropriation never existed is a bold-faced lie.

It's a free choice though. If people want to be jerks about it and are actually trying to be offensive about them, you don't really have to listen to them. We can't really say to every person in the world who walks in a Lopapeysa (a warm kind of clothing that originates from Iceland) to stop wearing the sweater and treat it with respect :T.
