Finished Beginning of the End. Some things hold it back.
Spoiler- Part 1 crams a lot of content and is rushed at times. The scene from the cracked Crystal Heart to Sombra sitting in Cadance's throne lacks any transition, making the jump clumsy.
- Snarkle's grunt from The Mean 6 is used twice in Part 2. If done once, fine. But to recycle it twice in a really high-stakes two-parter chops down the tension in each scene significantly.
- Sombra may be really smart, but he's really generic. His acting's also way too embellished, making his [clichéd] lines difficult to take seriously at times. I know many complained of the Pony of Shadows, but he had that really creepy aura with the backstory connected to Stygian and his ability to strike when ready. Sombra was a formidable foe, luring the RM6 into the Tree's hiding spot, so he used his shadow magic to destroy it. That said, his generic personality makes him the worst part of the episode.
Is it still really good, though? Yes.
Spoiler- Discord. 'Nuff said.
- The RM6 worked together to solve the problem, while its apparent inspiration (Princess Twilight) was focused more on Twilight alone.
- It knew how to set Celly and Luna aside without degrading them. When they were needed, the Lady Writers included them w/o being contrived.
- Its self-referential meta-humor (poking fun at itself) was really funny.
I gave it a B+ to start with, and it remains. With this, I have a placement! #53!

I found it an amazing episode, continuing where "School Raze" (also one of my favorites in the whole series) left off.
SpoilerSombra was a positive surprise for me, as I didn't find him an interesting villain in his first appearance. Though I'd still say the other villains shone more in their smaller roles – their chemistry made for some fun moments.
