Runedawn was studying the insides of the giant castle even he himself felt small in here, something that usually never happens. He was inspecting every little corner of the place, so that he would notice if any mistakes had been made. He did not find anything. "Simply amazing. This would've taken me at least 4 years!" He exclaimed, not realizing that when he talked to himself, everpony around could hear him. He then inspected the armors of the guards that were standing a short distance away. They stood perfectly still as he approached them. He was quite a lot larger than the guards, so he went through his knees a bit and lowered his head to inspect the armors value. "Excuse me, what are you doing..." One of the guards asked. Runedawn ignored him for a second or two, after which he answered. "Checkin' yer armor. I think you should have those hinges checked, they seem a bit rusty, and the plates don't overlap correctly. They could seriously restrict movement..." Runedawn grinned as guards jaw dropped. "I just had it checked!" Runedawn laughed loudly. "Then you should have your blacksmith checked!". Runedawn walked back to the group, realising he had drifted off a bit too much. @, He saw Myopia Oncler approach. "Good afternoon ladies and gentlecolts. I take it that her majesty is wrapping up a few last minute issues before seeing us?" "Well I suppose she is, but she's been taking awfully long now." Runedawn replied while frowning. The he smiled at Myopia. "Aren't you the Thneed.co guy... umm." Runedawn tried to remember his name. "Mayoper Uncle? Myopa Oncer. Myopia Oncler, that was it right? I remember ordering loads of ores from your mining company, so thats why I happen to know." Runedawn looked ridiculous in comparision to the well dressed, small stallion. Runedawn started to feel a bit out of place around these ponies... @@Pripyat Pony, Then he heard 'nature priestress'. "Hold on a second." He said to Myopia. "What exactly is a nature priestress? Do you adhere plants or somethin'. That sounds interesting... What exactly do you do as a nature priestress? Do you have any form of rituals?" Runedawn stuck his curious gigantic nose straight into the other conversation. "Me myself adheres something kinda familiar. Its the stuff that nature grows on. The earth..." He hoped to feel a little more in the right place talking to her.

I just go to realize, all we've been doing was "STEP ON THE EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER, WE'RE GOIN FOR A RIDE" At some point even runedawn cracked, and all of the sudden EVERYONE was crying?! What the crap... Anyway, im kinda sick of the sad stuff now. It's been nice, but we need to move on... And please, do include the ancient earth ponies to this. I'm going to make another post on them and it is really really really cool... I hope i'm not being too self indulgant. I just love this new concept I came up with. I think im gonna write a fanfic on it. -
Scribblegroove shaked the mare's hoof and answered. "Well, jazz, groove and funk, but mostly jazz yes, and and I hope to bring the most intellectual music genre back on the map. It hasn't been very popular for a few... Well, decennia. But hopefully I can change that. It's in my name after all. The groove. I hope to make you guys feel it as well!" Scribblegroobe inspected the mare with a quick analytical scan: ""Poorly cared for attire, preposterous purple shades. Blasting something through her headphones that couldn't be considered music, let alone bareable to listen to at all. Has no sense of her surroundings, and is probably low educated."" Scribblegroove gave her one of his fake smiles. "I do hope that what you are listening to now is not the only genre that you will deliver to us tonight. I am not too fond of dubstep, no offense..." He looked around at alle the ponies setting up their equipment and instruments. "I suppose you will not be using any real instruments in your performance?" He said with a grin. "I can't judge you really, neither will I!" He tapped his horn. "I've got this guy for that!" He then turned to look at diamond. ""Aah, excellent composition between simplicity and classiness, obviously knows how to act properly, and most of all, she is mysterious!"" the mare had sparked his curosity. He stepped to her, leaving rythm behind befor she could even answer. "And who might this mare I have the pleasure to be in the vincity of be. Might I say that your simply radiate confidence and beauty? You outshine us all. The stallion you have the pleasure of adressing is named Scribblegroove... Charmed, really" scribblegroove said.

Runedawn smiled at willow. "Don't be afraid of luna now, she is the one who sent you away! I'll be right there to, "use my hammer as encouragement" if she doesn't agree... Unless you don't want me to of course. If yer scared, I'll carry you up there personally, because we need you! I need you..." Runedawn laughed... Anyway, I guess we could go up there right now, you guys can decide, I'll just follow up." (hittin the hay, cya all, please don't talk to luna without me... 4 am again )
-
Runedawn smirked. "mad? Whered you get the idea I was mad? Everpony turning against me all of the sudden? Surely that is sporting. Really in the spirit of friendship..." He said sarcasticly. "but seriously, I am not mad anymore, as long as we can now stop fidgeting over nothing..." "Why would you wan't to carry that manh apples. If we want to be mobile, you'll have to drop a few... I'll carry some around, but all of them would be a waste of energy."
-
Runedawn started to get really pissed. "since when is all this about picking sides!? I thought we were just asking one simple question to a pony, who was supposedly part of a race that had threatened to kill celestia, and seize the throne once. The question is now resolved, why are we not moving on to the task at hand; moving to either canterlot or the crystal empire?" "I am on the side that has "saving equestria" on the top of the priority list..."
-
"as I said, miss belle, I was pretty bucking surprised we didn't notice earlier too! Yet that wouldn't have prevented you from presenting the valuable information about your background which is highly unusual, would it, miss belle?" Runedawn asked sarcasticly, and surprisingly well spoken. But, I do realise now that if ye truly were a threat, ye would've killed us a long time ago. My apologies..." Runedawn was still convinced he was in his right, but he was glad this argument was over. "and where exactly did y'all get the idea i'm violent. I pretty fond of me hammer, but I haven't harmed a thing, unlike you, who have brutaly murdered 3 diamond dogs... I am grumpy, and bone, that be true" "what do you need help with?" Runedawn asked belle.
-
Runedawn wiped the snow and ice off his face. "You are all ignorant and deaf. Let me explain to all of you who is at fault here..." Runedawn turned to chilly, showing him his calm, yet imfuriated face. "One: I merely proposed to use my hammer as encouragement IF she didn't answer. Thus I technically did not threaten to bash her face, I threatened to threaten her, which is something comepletely different. Now look who is residing to 'violence is the answer' huh chilly" He then turned to willow. "Two, you and I both know that there is plenty of reason to not 'ask nicely'. Both from her changelinghood and her manipulation... I think my reaction was pretty acceptable concerning the circumstances." He then turned to everypony. "Three, I would never, ever harm somepony who doesn't oppose a threat to me or my companions, and since we all know changelings, not this one pèr sé, but most of them are, by nature, dangerous and tricky. Thus, I shall protect you from this potential threat UNTILL she has made clear to me that I was wrong herself..." He then turned around, away from, the changeling. "But, since all of you suddendly seem to think that you are capable of handling yourselves in a potential fight, I leave it to you then..." He said sarcasticly while walking to his comfortable circle again. He stood there and closed his eyes, leaning on his hammer with the elbow of his left foreleg, calmly waiting for what the others were going to do.
-
"Don't tell me what to do steel, you weren't exactly peaceful whrn you attacked embers out of nowhere..." Runedawn turned to wanderlust. "Gee, haven't heard you in a while!" He said sarcasticly. "Decided to finally speak up for once? If changing form in plain sight is not chsngeling, then I don't know what is. And a lot of emotional stuff has been going on. Shes probably more than full, and she's eating those apples to trick u..." Runedawn got hit by a ball of ice, in the face, pushing him away slightly.
-
Runedawn picked up everyponies comments, but willows 'last changeling alive' remark stung. "You are right, ponies and changelings do not tend to mix. Changelings have proven themselves untrustworthy several times in the past. They aren't exactly a race that has a lot of good to contribute to the world. So even if she is the last changeling, she is not carrying any weight like I am..." Runedawn frowned ay the changeling. Runedawn added "If we had a lot more ponies like me, we would get things done 4 times faster... More earthstrikers..." Runedawn's heart stunf, but he stallioned up. "A lot less whiners and jokers would be nice... And more ponies like Chilly, with buckimg common sense!" "And that is why you should not have hidden that you are a changeling. We were going to find out eventually, and now you have harmed our trust in you. You had nothing else to hide except your race, and you shouldn't have kept that from us." Runedawn put his face closer to the changeling. "Now... Tell us who you are!"

I've been playing piano for 13 years, and I have some studio recording aperature. I can also sing pretty good, but my reach isn't very high... Nor low. I can also compose songs and write songtext if desired. A friend of mine is a really good bass, so he might be able to help out too!- 14 replies

Runedawn looked confused. "I don't care about her being a changeling!" He said to willow. "I just think she could've told me that AGES ago! I don't like liars and manipulators, be it a changeling or a lony, and this one here has tricked us more than enough. All I ask is an explanation, and I am using my hammer to encourage her to tell us quickly..." He said after turning back to Star Belle. "I appreciate what you've done and all, but what's up with the hidin' and lyin'." Runedawn looked at starstruck, grell, steel, ember and saphire, and realised they were ignorimg hi, and dealing with their own business. "Oh, great... Look at the little heartbreakers wasting their time... Ye don't truly fall in love with someone in 5 minutes! Not even in an apocalypse. Pay attention to what is important!" After saying that Runedawn looked at willow, and didn't exactly know if what he said was true...
-
Runedawn's jaw had dropped since they entered the crystal empire station, and had been like that till the absolutely gorgeous mare started speaking. His stallion instincts told him to act like a gentleman, but he knew he did not have a chance with this mare anyway. ""So why bother!"" he thought. "Holy buckamoly, have you fellas seen this place! The craftsmanship on it is amazing! Bit rushed, and maybe magically reimforced, but amazing nonetheless..." Runedawn turned to the other ponies and realised that he hadn't introduced himself to most of them yet. "Right, good day everypony, my name is Runedawn, and I'm an earthstriker. Maybe you know what that is, and maybe ye don't. Apparantly the princess has summoned me for my skills in the art of runesmithing. At least, that is what I presume... (ooc: runedawn and hypno were not in the same train as the one where the letter was explained.) I used to be a guard, but now I'm a blacksmith, though I prefer to call meself an 'artist'." Runedawn said all this in his regular, way too loud voice. Runedawn looked at everypony, and felt a bit outclassed. Some of them looked very neatly, and one of them was even wearing a suit worth three anvils at least! As opposed to the ash covered, knife cut maned, barely washed giant of a stallion. ""I'd best accentuate the parts o' me that look good then!"" he proceeded to get out his shiny, beautiful magical hammer (worth at least 10 of those suits), and wanted to stroke his beard, only realising he was already using one foreleg to rest his hammer on his shoulder. Instead, he pointed his chin forward. "Well, what are you little ponies doing in this beautiful palace èh?" He said, while walking around on 3 legs. "Oh, and milady, I am afraid I must admit that I don't read the paper. I don't read much at all actually. I had a hard time tryin' to figure out what this letter said anyway. Way too many expensive words such as "political difficulties" or "affliation"..."
-
Runedawn turned around to the other ponies. "Oi, are you blind" he screamed to get everponies attention, and then pointed at belle. "This is a changeling! Why did nopony notice... Why do you not seem to care about saving equestria and are talking about FOOD. Chilly, you have some common sense, talk some of that into them ponies, they are off the charts-stupid!" He then turned back to the changeling. "Come on, we do not have all day. In fact, we don't have day at all!'

Runedawn felt his depression flow out of his body almost instantly ""I'm not alone..." He thought. The pain didn't bother him. He could take pain. He opened his eyes again, and this time they were fierce and clear. He looked at willow. He looked into her eyes. He saw all the love, compassion and care in her soul. Then, Runedawn tried to stand up. Almost immeadiately he could feel the responsibility press down on his shoulders and lega. From both above and under him. Yet he kept going. With all his strength he lifted the weight on his shoulders, and pushed away the ground below him. He still felt the pressure, but he was standing, and he wouldn't give up again. "I'm a stallion for bucks sake! What was I thinking! I feel so ashamed of meself now..." Runedawn still felt willow's magic in his body, and it it set his soul ablaze again. The forge in his chest was burning again. The power that the forces of the earth had granted him slowly returned to him. He felt like he could lift the weight of the world, and then realised he was... But not alone. He looked at willow, and he assumed his regular, bone and straightforward attitude again. "Consider us even Willow." He then whispered in her ear. "More so, I am in your dept now. Runedawn looked at the others. "ALLRIGHT, drama session's over. I got over meself, so now you should too. We need to get go... Runedawn finally noticed the changeling. "How the buck did nopony notice her being a changeling!" He walked towards her. Explain yourself Belle, if that's yer name that is!" Runedawn grabbed his hammer and stood in front of belle... "Wait, didn't you CALL ME A WEIRDO!" He finally remembered...
-
Runedawn felt the weight of the world under him, and the weight of another on his shoulders. Both of them filled with the ancient arts that had been practiced for millenia. The oldest force in the world was trusting it's life in Runedawns hooves, with it coming all the progression that has been made by all the earthstrikers that had ever lived. Then he felt something. He wasn't paying attention to his surroundings. He felt willow putting her hoof on his flank. He felt a magical force flow through him. He tried to push willow away. "Leave me be." His voice creaked. Runedawn was disgusted and amazed by the mares magical power. Disgusted, because it could invade his mind and his emotions. Amazed, because the grief he felt had been tempered a little. "I... I don't know what to do. Everything used to be so clear and simple, I had a magical talent and thats it. Now... I'm alone... No one can help me. I've ne'er had any friends beside me hammer. Now I stand alone against a challenge... That I'm..." Runedawn tried to hide his emotions. He knew he had to man up, that there was no time for crying like a boy. But the magic of the mare made him spill his emotions. "I'm afraid alright... That this whole apocalypse thing will be the end of it. That everything that not only my life, but all the earthstrikers lives have lead up to will be lost... For nothing" Runedawn had been defeated... The pressure of a task so grand had finally brought him to his knees. But then, the mare gave him hope. He looked up into her eyes."Will you help me?" He asked, with the voice that nearly sounded like a growl, how creaky it was. "Why even bother... I can't forge a sun, I can't save equestria, I can't save my ancestors... I can't even save myself. I am worthless!" Runedawn knew that this was not true, but was when compared to a goal so high. Runedawn tried to push the mare away, but he didn't even have enough strenght to do it. "Please..." But he didn't get any further...

Scribblegroove was slowly walking across the street, with a smile on his face. The sun brightened up his eyes, and those showed the obvious emotions of confidence and happiness. He was making his way through the town towards the giant penthouse that would apparently house the beach bash. He felt in his element, around the tourists who were all looking at him. Not because he was looking strange, but because he was producing sound... out of nowhere. But nothing is like it seems. Scribblegroove was just concentrating on the music he wanted to project through magic. It was a nice little spell he had learned when he was still a scholar. One of the elders had helped him figure out how to do it, and he had perfected it up to the point that he could now play music while at the same time doing anything trivial, such as talking and dancing, as long as it didn't take too much concentration. Thats the big plus on Scribblegroove. No electronics, no instruments, you are literally listening at his mind... The big downside on Scribblegroove however, was that he was very aware of his obvious talents, and unique approach, and he was not exactly modest about it. In fact, Scribblegroove is usually a total dick. However, he can be nice if you gain his respect, or if you talk him down enough, which can be quite hard because of his immense ego. He finallly arrived at the front door. He stopped playing the music and rang the bell. The pony who opened was greeted in a friendly way, and as soon as he entered the house he inspected everything immeadiately. There were already a few inside the house, setting up their instruments and electronics. "Well hello there fillies and gentlecolts. My name is Scibblegroove... Maybe you've heard of me, maybe you haven't. I'm from canterlot, how about you guys?
-
Runedawn looked up. "Thats nice willow..." Runedawn said. "But the sun has been torn apart you know. We will need someone to repair it..." Runedawn was still torn apart about what he heard from his anscestors. "Forging the sun back into shape... That would be the biggest job i ever pulled, and saving equestria along with it!" Yet this thought of the possibility to smith something more beautiful then he had ever before didn't fill him with joy. It only filled him with more sadness. "If there were other earthstrikers around, we would've been able to prepare a proper ritual for it... I can't do the grand forging ritual on my own!" The thought of all that he had lost slowly began to hit him. He was blind to think that he had no one to care about when this apocalypse happened. The grief of loss tore him apart inside. It was something he had never felt before. It felt like homesickness and a broken heart at the same time, two things he could simply ignore before all this. He started to become angry at himself for his own emotional weakness, adding that emotion to the pool as well. He tried to speak, bring his logic and wisdom back into the group, to make sure that they went to canterlot. He wanted to explain to willow and chilly what he had seen. He couldn't. His jaw simply dropped and he looked far into the horizon. Slowly the emotions began to rush up. They were boiling inside him, and he couldn't control himself anymore. Right there and then, runedawns tearglands that had stood dry almost completely for years started to flood. His eyes started to tear up. He walked away to the others, back to the circle that he drew in the grass. He lied down inside it, hoping that the connection to his element would make him feel better. It didn't. Runedawn was flabbergasted. He had never felt this amount of emotion before in his life. He had never expressed sadness after he had become a stallion and left his parent's house. He expressed himself in the only way he knew how. Runedawn wanted to scream, but all he could get out was a creaky whine. Ashamed, Runedawn lay down his head on the ground, hoping to hear the voice of his bloodline again, that would sure be lost after this. Generations of practice and study... Lost. All Runedawn felt was emptyness and sorrow.

The sun warms the earth, but the world doesn't lose heat that quickly. It is cold already, we haven't really played that out yet. Neither have we played out that it's night alot. It doesn't matter though, the atmosphere, land and ocean don't lose heat very quickly, but we should be noticing cold very soon now... And by the way, i don't think a lot of days have passed, it might even have been only 24 hours up until now! Most of those hours were traveling from ponyville/canterlot/manehatten to the everfree, the interaction up until now hasn't really taken up a lot if in game hours... -
Runedawn was silent for a while. He thought deeple about he was going to say. He thought about telling the others about what he saw, but he decided that he'd keep most of the details for himself. "I know what we have to do..." He grunted. He stood up and packed his things. He grabbed his hammer and strapped it to his back. "Yes, we are leaving... As soon as possible, preferably now." He said while he turned to Grell. "I have a heading for us. Two actually. The one goin' to canterlot, where we will speak with Luna... We have the right as her subjects to know what happened! The other one be to... well, the crystal empire I think. I believe that we could go see if cadence is still alive, and we might be able to find..." Runedawn hesitated, he didn't know if he should tell everypony this. "What I just did was a ritual that connects oneself to the earth. It works for everypony, you can go stand in the circle and feel it yourself, yet only the bloodline of earthstrikers can actually do something useful with it. Practically speaking, I just had a vision, and it told me that we had to hurry finding a solution to all this. The earth won't stay warm for long... It is losing its heat quickly, it is already getting colder every hour. As long as there is no sun in the sky, the world will keep losing temperature until everything on the surface dies." Runedawn pointed to the mountain in the distance where theremains of Canterlot could be seen. "I know two ponies who can warm this place up again. Luna and Cadence." Runedawn knew that there was more to this. Something bad was about to happen. The aftermath of the apocalypse. Runedawn pointed his glowing eyes at the everypony around one by one. "The heat of the sun can't have gone to dust in such a short time. I bet you ponies that there are hot ass shards of it lying all around Equestria. We will be sure to find one on the way. If I could get my hands on one of them, I might be able to make something that can repel the cold..." Runedawn looked back at the canterlot castle, which was still partially burning. Most of it had been destroyed though. "So I guess we have three heading then. The shards, Luna or Cadence." He looked back at the others. "Your choice..." He then stroked his beard and coughed. "I don't know why, but I have a feeling that the vision didn't only give me information. I feel stronger now, and also warmer on the inside. Is there anything different bout me looks?" Runedawn didn't only feel stronger. He also felt lonely, being the only one to carry on all of the culture and traditions that his ancestors had left behind. Being the last earthstriker on the surface... He turned sad. His ears were pointing down. He was usually capable of ignoring his emotions, but after he just had his mind invaded by a omnipotent being, he was caught a bit off guard and couldn't throw his depression off.

Runedawn awoke after the strange lightshow that occurred during the strange conversation that chilly and willow had. He opened his eyes and looked at what happened. “What the hay are you two doing over there… Did I miss anything important?” He then looked around to see that some ponies had fallen asleep, and others were just standing around looking in the distance. He felt strange. When he sat there on the ground, his legs didn't feel like legs anymore. It felt like he was connected to everything below him, like everything was a part of something immense and whole. He could feel the ponies around him, and the trees in the distance. Even the mighty mountains, which were miles away, pressed against Runedawns soul with their endless weight. The core was reaching out to him. It was calling his name... Suddendly runedawns head hurt. He could already feel his mind drifting away… The ancient earth powers were calling to him. He stood up and quickly started drawing a circle in the ground below them with the backside of his hammer. Around this circle he drew a few runes that together resembled the same rune formation as the one on his cutie mark. He stood inside it and closed his eyes, frowning deeply. “Do not interrupt me, this will only take a minute… Ask questions later” He slammed the butt of his hammer into the ground, in the middle of the circle, and he sat down next to it… He then turned his bag of runes upside down in the circle. All the granite disks fell on the ground. “Gol ko Su, hahdrim hiin gol!” He mumbled repeatedly. First he spoke quickly, barely articulating, but eventually he started to speak more slowly, and in a deeper bass tone. Then he went silent, and the expression on his face changed. His eyes were still closed, but he no longer seemed in pain. "In the earth we bury our dead brethren. This is where they reside for eternity. All ancestors that had ever walked on the world are still with us, yet they are below the endless rocks of the ground. They are in the core, where every soul is consumed into the blazing inferno of molten rock and iron. There, they become one. They become part of the earth we stand on." A loud voice resonated in Runedawns head. "Who are you? Why are you in my mind..?" Runedawn was confused. He could no longer hear the outside world, he couldn't even move a muscle. "We are a force more ancient than any other. We are every Earthstriker that has lived before. We are one consciousness, we have all become part of the greatest forge there is. You seem to know our ancient rituals like a true Earthstriker. This was our test to you, and you have succeeded. You did not fear the ground you walk on. You embraced it like a true Earthstriker should. We called out to you to guide you, and to ask you for help." Runedawn was slightly scared, but more so obsessed with what was happening "Why did you only contact me now. I have been an earthstriker longer then just now..." "The core has been threatened Runedawn. The sky has burned for days, and all other runesmiths have died. You are the final one still above the ground. We will survive in the core's heat, but you and your friends will surely die in the cold that will come soon. Without the sun, Equestria and all other lands will perish. Eventually, even the flame of the core will die, and all of our history will be lost. You need to protect the bloodline Runedawn. You need to save your friends." Runedawn was now seriously frightened, the pressure of responsibility took its toll."Well how am I supposed to save the world on my own! I am not some sort of wonderpony!" "You are not alone. Your friends who are around you right now will help you. The power of friendship is powerful force Runedawn, do not forget that. Use your talens. Use theirs. The shards of the sun that are spread across Equestria will be the beacons of hope for the rest of your civilization now... The last heat will shine from there, but even that little candle will be blown out by what is about to come. The core will give you strength Runedawn. Go now, and save the world. Not alone, but with all that is connected by the home that is the earth." Runedawn felt the heat of the core fill up his body. It scorched his muscles, but did not harm them. It cooked his blood bit did not vaporize it. The core had granted him the warmth he needed to keep going. The warmth that all of Equestria needed to keep going. Runedawn still had his eyes closed when he returned to his normal state of mind. The runes around him had started to glow violet and purple. He slowly breathed in and out, and opened his eyes. They were softly glowing orange light. He just sat there for a while, basking in his own heat, not knowing what to do, and still feeling the earth connect to him, but no longer calling out. He felt alone.
