  1. Problem is, its more geared towards little girls and the whole isle is all pink. Hot topic uses neutral colors for the adult audience both male and female. Also, I feel very awkward going into the pink section at Target and Walmart. Most of the stuff there is plushies, toy sets and other girly themed things toward the show. I mean compare the two, which would you rather be seen in or looking at?
  2. That no matter how good the story is, I feel like I am watching Bratz or Monster high. I mean even the stock art (not the show animation) reminds be of the girly aspect of Bratz or monster high. I know it may sound hypocritical since MLP is a "girls" show, but something about the ponies make it unique.
  3. If that was the case why do they still have whole sections for adventure time, regular show, Pokemon, and anime like sailor moon and attack on titan, yet little to no pony merch? I think its something deeper than a fad. Clearly pony merch is very popular as they have lots on their website but little in their stores.
  4. Must have been a miracle or something. Today while browsing I spotted only one other pony merch in a long time at Hot topic besides the basic Funco toys. It was this T-shirt with pinkie pie. Besides that its still has nothing compared to the rest of the merch. I mean there is still tons of Pokemon and black butler, adventure time, and regular show but only pony funco toys and this one t shirt. Wish the store had more of the stuff found on their website like back in 2014.
  5. True, but the hot topics near me had nothing but pop figures and funcos even towards the end of season four. Furthermore, like others said they still sell tons of Pokemon, older animes like sailor moon, dbz, and black butler in many varieties yet they only sell like two pony products. On their website there is much more merch. Sure there are many other sites that have pony merch, but what makes going to Hot Topic great is to physically see what your buying and is rather gender neutral. Sure I could go to toys r us or Walmart, but all the pony stuff is full of pink. I like MLP and all but, I rather be walking in the pink aisle with pony toys intended for the younger audience. Only other time I get to physically see a ton of pony merch before I buy is at conventions which only come a few times a year.
  6. Yes I totally would. I mean this would be awesome.
  7. They used to have a large section. Also the compared to the website, the store has nothing. Just funco and POP toys
  8. I have noticed that the two hot topics I go to no longer sell much pony merch anymore yet they still have sections for other older stuff like Pokemon and adventure time. Only a year ago there was a whole section for MLP merch in both of the stores I usually visit, now there are only POP figures and Funco toys. In the past they had many MLP T-shirts, headphones, blankets, stickers, key chains, posters, and other apparel. This does not include the website as they still have many MLP merch. But I miss going into my local Hot Topics and browsing the pony merch and check them out physically. Does anybody know why this is and has anyone noticed something similar with Hop Topics in your area? But yet they still have sections for older fandoms such as Pokemon and other Anime/Cartoon shows Here is what Hot Topic used to look like when I walked in.
  9. Yep as long as your not harrassed by security for simply shaking their hand or saying hello becuase you have to buy a ticket first to do that lol.
  10. Finally got to meet the guy, as he was coming out to his car, I said those stickers made his truck 20% cooler than other cars in the parking lot. He laughed and gave me a brohoof. Got to know him and he seems like a cool guy. Turns out he has not gone to many local meetups do to his job but will try to make some others in the future.
  11. I dont think it should deter you from going to a convention. I mean even if the security are super uptight around the VA's does not mean the rest of the convention will be boring. I had an awesome time a bronycon in general. Besides I think this is only just a bronycon thing from what I have heard do to its sheer size and corporatization of it. Smaller cons are much more relaxed in terms of meeting with the VA's and such.
  12. Maybe he goes to the local meetups. I wonder if I will see him at the next meetup I go to.
  13. Yeah because because saying hello to a VA is a direct threat to them But seriously they were way too much.
  14. This 100%. I mean just trying to talk to a person and shake their hand the security freaked the hell out. Also when I saw the security tell the guy to get a ticket to shake Cathy's hand while he was in the middle of talking to her (after she had nobody on line for close to an hour) was completely uncalled for. In fact Cathy was in the middle of saying nice to "meet you" and the security literally cut him and her off mid sentence. Cathy has such a look of disgust at the security on her face but did not say anything. It was really wrong and I cant imagine how embarrassed that guy must have felt.
  15. I was extremely trying to be ninja when I took the pictures for this thread lol. I wonder if he is even a member on the forum and recognized his car.
  16. Might end up scaring the girl or have parents call the cops that some random adult is following her XD
  17. Also he has a couple of pokemon stickers on his car. Not only does he like mlp, he is into other nerdy things that most bronies like such as anime, cars and pokemon. I am sure he likes video games too.
  18. I would be curious how his co workers react to his "manly" jeep being covered in ponies since most is not all of the people working at that mechanic shop last I been there were all guys. But for sure I give the guy props as he is truely a brony and proud to be showing off all of those stickers on his car. Surly he must get tons of questions lol.
  19. Thought I would share this. but I always squee abit inside when I see mlp merch such as stickers in public especially on cars or buildings. For me I get especially excited since there are not many bronies that I know of who live near me. The only bronies I know about are the ones I see at meetups or cons. But seeing one in public is more of a rush for me. Recently I noticed an awesome looking jeep that I assume is some mechanics near the local shopping center I go to. This jeep has a bunch of stickers that are all brony related. I am hoping I run into this person to comment how cool their jeep looks and that I am a fellow brony. If that is the case we have two things in common, we both like cars and ponies lol. I saw stickers of Rainbow Dash, Big Mac, Applejack, Discord, Princess Luna, and Derpy along with some other non-related stickers. Feel free to comment on these sightings or share photos or experiences of your public mlp merch sightings on cars or buildings, signs, and polls
  20. Ponycon has basically become what bronycon used to be in NYC. But bronycon was awesome and I hope to go to many more cons.
  21. To be honest most of them were not like your typical security, they were more jerks than scary looking. Michael Dobson for example had these three guys all smaller than him wimpy or overweight. Michael Dobson alone reminds me of Bulk Biceps, as he is rather tall and muscular. He looks like he can be a security guard lol. When I began talking to him, his security was rather rude since he was right behind me on the starbucks line. Furthermore, he looked abit annoyed by this to have to tell them to calm down. His security looked rather embarrassed and kind of retreated behind him after that. After that I had an awesome conversation with him as we were on line for about 10 minutes. He was really cool to talk with.
  22. Ouside the VIPS, most of the security manging the events and such were nearly all bronies and were much nicer, if not all really nice. Understandable why they were not alloed to be security for VIPs.
