  1. Might have found the perfect dog for me to train as a therapy dog! Crossing my fingers!

  2. The wig for Daring Do I got from China, I just used a black wig from Amazon. You can check Etsy for hand made wigs that will do a gray spectrum but they're pricier. For wings and horns Yayahan is your go to girl for anything pony. Sand color fits Daring Do. I'll slap her link up top. You can always bring two costumes to switch between, that's what I'm doing. Professor Daring sounds kinda neat! I'm keeping the AK Yearling glasses on my Daring Do just to avoid contact lenses for a day. I know my booth buddy and I think one more from my group will be on cosplay photography duty and I'm certain there will be some other photographers roaming about. As for an organized photoshoot I don't know if there's one happening. I can drop the event staffers an email to see if that's happening or wait until the schedule is released. I'll update that first post in a jiff with some cosplay resources. Time's running out to order though!
  3. Those sound like great ideas! Chicken suit Pinkie sounds fantastic, did you check Amazon? My Engiejack and Daring Do cosplays are both like 70% Amazon built (the rest is from Etsy.) I'd be willing to put together a cosplay resource list in that first post just for pony bits (ears, horns, wings, tails, wigs, etc.) Just a tip for people buying wigs: Check where it's shipping from! Chinese shipments you should order at least a month in advance.
  4. That's a lotta rain in a weekend. Stay safe, SoCal bronies.

  5. Bleh. It's only 11:30 AM and already today is rotten. Hopefully I get something nice in the mail today! (Like my cosplay Duster tail!)

  6. I just want to address 2 by saying I'm not at all surprised they tried to ham it up like that. Kudos to you for saying no. The Spike hoodie may have been overkill if it were any other situation but between your cosplay or a hoodie, I think the hoodie was safest. I'm pretty sure most people here are on your side. And reading this post now I'm pissed that they didn't let you talk because you have good points. If only you got to talk about point 3 on your post on that show.
  7. As long as I don't hear about what's going on in your pants, I'm happy. Honestly, I don't care. As long as I don't have clop material or your clop habits shoved in my face, whatever. It's not my business, I don't get why some cloppers will get all up in arms when you get creeped out about them talking about their porn and masturbation habits. It's creepy when people shove their porn in your face no matter what it is, cloppers are no exception. Just keep your porn where you can find it if you want it and avoid it if you don't want it and everyone will be happy.
  8. I did. It was a bunch of talking heads spouting off about things that either don't happen, rarely happen, or are their completely uninformed opinions and not letting the man talk at all. You can see the guy's frustration in his face. I don't see how this detracts from my point that it's made to pander to the freak show voyeurs. If anything the fact they just went off on how it's creepy and porny and wouldn't let the actual guest say anything proves it. If they were interested in a fair brony viewpoint they would've given him more than 20 words for the whole segment.
  9. It's reality television. They have no interest in being fair and having a fair representation, they're in the business of peddling freak shows. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this guy came across as totally normal and had some magic cutting done. They've done this to the furry fandom for years to the point no furries respond to TV casting calls because they know what will happen. To anyone reading this determined to get on TV and set the record straight: Don't. They'll edit you stupid.
  10. If you work/otherwise earn money and you want to buy a plushie or a toy, then go for it. Nobody can dictate how you spend your money. It's your money, you earned it. Just because you think it's stupid doesn't mean they can't do it. I think dropping hundreds of dollars on body pillow covers is stupid but I'm not gonna stop anyone from doing it if it's their money. However, that doesn't absolve you from judgment if you decide to take your plushies out in public and act like children with them. That's embarrassing and making the fandom look awful.
  11. Because when they made a popular cartoon into a movie, this happened. The world was never the same.
  12. Considering that "femme fatale" is largely considered a woman who uses seduction and manipulation to kill people.... no not really.
  13. I think a large amount of it is the lack of people willing to stand up versus the sheer number of people who will enable extreme fan behavior. The brony mantra "love and tolerate" has been twisted to mean "enabling is magic." Really, if we needed one fandom to illustrate the geek social fallacies perfectly, it would be this one. The extremist bronies have a premade echo chamber of other equally insane bronies to justify any creepy, abnormal, or otherwise unwanted behavior. Thankfully out of all my years interneting about and specializing in psychotic fandoms, MLP doesn't even break the top three.
  14. Sure have! Though I spent a lot of time with Twilight. I dunno why, she just wanted to talk about how my kind live and what we do. Never had anypony care that much. I thought it was boring but she wrote it all down so I guess it must be interesting! I have to say, the one called Rarity confuses me. She uses witchcra- oh right, they call it magic... erm, she uses "magic" on machines that make clothes. Do ponies in Equestria need clothes that shiny?
  15. Who will be cosplaying at BABScon? I'll be doing Daring Do and Team Fortress 2 Engineer Applejack (same cosplay from Anime Expo last year.) I haven't figured out which days I'm going to do which cosplay yet, that all depends on event schedules. Any other cosplayers for BABScon? PONY COSPLAY SUPPLIES (ORDER ASAP!) Yayahan: Ears, Wings, Horns (Etsy Link) Probably the best maker of pony bits out there. Takes about two-ish weeks to get your order. Wigs: Amazon and Etsy Simply searching "(pony name) wig" usually drums up results. Etsy prices will be a bit higher since most wigs are custom made. However if you order from Amazon, check where it ships from! Many wigs come from China and those can take anywhere from a few days to a month or more to arrive. There's also the added risk of getting the wrong item or lost item (I personally have never had issues but coworkers have had problems with ordering direct from China.) Expedited shipping is available but pricey. Cutie Marks: MTThreadz on Etsy This is really just my personal preference of cutie mark supplier. Gotten two from them and have never had a single problem. You can just search "(pony name) cutie mark" on Etsy and get hits but this is my preferred seller. Tails: SistersoftheMoon on Etsy Another preferred seller. Amazon does have wig + tail deals but the advantage to Sisters of the Moon is you can request a custom item if you don't find your pony.
  16. It's not so much the fandom connection that's the problem; it's the handling of the whole situation. There are plenty of celebrities with "geeky" hobbies. Fan projects are a good way to get off the ground. Taking down a project and giving no ackowledgement to the people who created it is a bad thing.
  17. Just taking the takedown message at face value; that is the biggest middle finger any project leader could give to his team. Strip it down it not only credits nobody other than him for this animation (which I need to point out that in the credits Rich is not even listed as an animator) but basically says "Oh DR was only a stepping stone into my professional career!" In short, he used all the people who ever worked on DR to advance his own career and then gives them zero credit for their effort. That kind of horrible handling of a project follows you. In actuality he made his future animating prospects even worse by doing this because any half-baked search will turn up this and show how he treated people who give their time (and to some extent money, let's not forget some of the people who worked were professional and therefore lost money by volunteering on this project) to make it succeed. He could not have shot himself in the foot fandom-ly or professionally more if he taped a target on and took aim. I just feel awful for all the people who put work into this and get absolutely nothing out of it.
  18. My boss at my first job, food service, was Satan. Never came in and when he did he was probably drunk and yelling at the employees, trained me by sitting in the back and yelling insults at me in front of the customers, and yelled in my face and threatened to fire me. A lot of our customers are elderly Japanese and don't speak English well, and my boss thought that if he just said it louder and slower they'd get it. meanwhile me, the employee who speaks conversationally fluent Japanese, is sent off to do menial tasks while he talks to the customers like they're children. The one time I did take over and do a transaction in Japanese my boss got mad at me for making him look bad. I lost so much weight from the sheer stress and misery at that job. They thankfully fired me. There's a reason that place is always hiring and their Yelp reviews are hit or miss. My current job, handler at a dog daycare, I haven't had that many rude people. We have "escorts" that bring their dogs in for grooming and they're super nice. However there's one woman with two horribly trained dogs (beagle and bulldog) and she's just rude. She hates my boss because he tells her that her beagle is badly behaved and won't let her bring in the bulldog at the same time because they have a bad codependant relationship. She now brings both dogs on the weekends when my boss isn't there so she doesn't have to hear bad things about her dog. That lady's poor wife is so sweet and puts up with such rude behavior. I feel bad for her.
  19. Asexual. My life is one of relative uninterest.
  20. No requests, unfortunately. Still got my commission queue to work through. Glad you like my work though!
  21. My not pony art! Not a whole lot since I'm not sure where the rest went. Summer greeting card (Shochuumimai) designs from 2011. As part of my internship in Japan I had to design the summer greeting cards for the graphic design company I was interning for. The top design was the final one chosen. The second one was unseasonal and the third and fourth were passed up for the first. Commission for a friend of her fursona.
  22. - I love G1. I grew up on it, still collect it, still draw the ponies from it. G1 is tied with G4 for my favorite ponies. - The whole waifu thing is just really really creepy. I get having a favorite character and collecting merch of your favorite character, but so much of the writings on waifus and the things people do with representations of their waifus creep me out so much. Setting up a candlelit dinner with wine with a pony plushie just seems really... odd.
  23. o hai another asexual brony! c:

    1. SomariFeyWright

      SomariFeyWright

Indeed I am! Nice to meet another one. They can be hard to find.

I don't think I've ever seen you around here before. Nice to meet you, Dusty~!

  24. Time to clean the G1 collection! It's getting a little dusty in there.

  25. It's more about what the fandom needs LESS of; and that is entitlement. Not everything is "for the fans." Not everything has to be "for the fans." Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. I'm convinced that fandering has utterly ruined parts of the fandom by giving bronies too much of a sense of entitlement over the show and how it should go. ^^ THIS. ^^
