I think it's best to just drop the whole argument, from the looks of things the writers don't even know themselves if it's canon or not. I guess it's supposed to be interpreted however you want.

Continuing this here so as not to spam up the topic. I never said I had an issue with musical numbers period, and the songs in MLP still do try out many different styles, and I meant to say that "a friend for life" doesn't match the tune not all of EG (my bad).
