Yeah, I heard too. Sad days.

He was a legend.

Well...in a way his one the lines in one of his hit songs were true(like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes) as he passed not too long before midnight, from my understanding anyways. 

Reading his Facebook though, it doesn't exactly sound like he was or has been in very good shape for a long time- quite a few posts about "avoid back surgery", "do everything you can to avoid surgery", and "can't hit the high notes without extreme pain".

Edit to add: "And I think somebody somewhere must be tolling a bell
