    I'm a bit infuriated about what my irl friend said to me about all the tech I have with me. He called my gaming setup "crap" because my gaming pc is dated. Then questions why I own both a pc and a laptop like there's something wrong with having both platforms...

    Also how likely is it to get the Coronavirus if I were to order a new processor off a Chinese site? (Not ordering anything right now, but I'm saving up until this summer lol)

      Nothing wrong with dated tech as long as it works. I'm still using Windows Vista era tech for my gaming pc and my astronomy laptop is just as old. I do plan to upgrade to a laptop with usb 3.0 but till then, it works just fine for my telescope cameras.  

      I probably wouldn't worry too much about getting corona from the processor. Maybe just wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol?

    Senior quotes were removed from my high school's yearbook for this year. Sucks to see how immature 12th graders are for ruining such a great feature in the yearbook.

    Played some FNAF 1 and 2 for some nostalgia. Can't believe I still get scared from this stuff lol.

    So yesterday for Valentine's day, my friend and I went out to the movies and watched Sonic the Hedgehog. It's a pretty awesome movie except for a few "cringey" parts of the movie. Overall I liked it a lot!

    For all of you computer nerds out there, should I upgrade my processor or graphics card first? Currently rocking an i7 4770 (+ ugly dell motherboard with 14gb DDR3 memory :/) and a GTX 970. Both are pretty ancient now. I do some coding (Java) from time to time, Adobe Photoshop, Forza Horizon 4, Minecraft (lots of building, shaders and heavy modding), and a few steam games and simulators.

    I'm currently eyeballing a Ryzen 7 2700x or 5 2600 for the CPU + motherboard upgrade (also because I hate having a green dell mottherboard in my pc case). But for the graphics, I'm looking at a Radeon RX 5600 XT or a GTX 1660 Super. Not going for 3rd gen Ryzen because budget motherboards ain't out yet for it and I'm not willing to do a bios update :/

    Both parts I currently have are holding up fine for right now, but I want to keep up with what my friends have (both of their systems have Ryzens and newer graphics cards).

      If your more into gaming and such, a GPU might be more convenient to invest in for now ;)

      @Sondash StudiosOh okay. I mostly just do I lot of casual tasks and the only games I play on my pc are Minecraft, Forza, NFS, and some simulators. Most of my other tasks goes to photoshop, illustration, coding, light video editing, and youtube videos/music and discord.

      I heard that the CPU processes information and sends it then to the GPU which renders the info, among other stuff. I guess if you want speed, the CPU is good, but if you want quality and more vibrant extras, the GPU would be more suitable.

      My old gaming computer is running a PowerColor HD7700.  

      It takes care of my needs so I'll run it til it quits.  ^_^

      @PhosphorOoh! I originally wanted to get an HD 7700, but I wasn't willing to pay $40+ for it (as far as I've seen from my search results). Having an HD 6850 was a huge downgrade for me, but I needed to give my Nvidia 970 a rest lol.

      @PiratePonyAutomotive Engineering and Computer Science. I can't guarantee what company I do want to work for, but I've had interest in working for Tesla or even something like Ford.

    I remembered being a Freshman in high school and being picked on for being one. Since this is my last year of high school, I can't believe how much time has passed...

    Lacking on my FAFSA application, looking for some automotive and computer science scholarships to apply for, and still finding a part-time job while being scolded and threatened to be kicked out of the house on my bday this June. Life is great! :ButtercupLaugh:

    It's funny when people think that 2 ram sticks have to be the same capacity in order for them to work. For the last 2 years, my PC was running strong off of 3 2gb sticks and 1 4gb stick (10gb ram total). But now I'm at 14gb of ram. Just one more stick to upgrade and I'll be at 16! :D

      Depends on how it is configured. some motherboards are faster if all the sticks are the same size (then it can stripe writes across the bank, rather than mapping them sequentially). Some aren't.

      Meh. Only posting this because when I told my friend that I upgraded some of my ram sticks, he criticized me because "they aren't the same capacity" and asked me how a motherboard is able to run off of sticks with both different capacities. Then again, all my ram sticks are the same exact speed, but only one has a different capacity than the rest.

      In what way? You may just be able to do a clean install of the OS to make it run much faster!

      @BlivyOn rare occasions, it will overheat and the machine is usually loud (and I've had the thermal paste on the hardware replaced not too long ago). A simple game like minecraft will run perfectly fine at like 300 fps, but like I said, the system would be loud as hell and every other windows running in the background (YouTube tab in Chrome and Discord) lag really horribly. I am on 10gb of memory, but I'm getting new memory sticks in the mail soon so I'l be around 14gb.

      Also not to mention my OS is running off of an SSD and the processor and graphics card are from like 2013 and 2014.
