// V0.0.1.0 - 12-07-2021 - Updater And Player Ship Rotation
added: Upon launch, the game will check for updates and will inform players, if there is any available. Choosing to update will automatically begin downloading the new package and open the installer once it finishes. The installation process has to be performed manually by the player though. Players will be able to view changelog to see what's new before updating, or choose to skip the update. The game will prompt to update again upon next launch.added: Player Ship will now be turning towards the cursor position and will shoot in that direction. For that, a new stat has been added, which controls at what speed the ship rotates.
added: New item (total:10) - Thruster - Increases ship turn speed by 5% (+5% per stack).
added: New item (total:11) - X4 Scope - 5% (+5% per stack) chance for critical hits to crit, dealing quadruple devastating damage.
added: Option in Pause Menu to Return to Title Screen, allowing to restart the game without having to shutdown application.
added: Players can toggle stat display (TAB) with CAPS LOCK.
changed: Homing Missile will pick a new nearest target if the enemy they're after is destroyed.
fixed: Damage popups weren't paused properly while the game was paused.
fixed: Corrected an oversight whereby the player shield capacity that is based on max HP was not being updated when leveling up. Picking up any item was correcting that value.

(Since it's an .exe installer and I'm not a registered publisher, windows will probably warn, that this file is sus because it comes from an unknown publisher and stuff. Not sure if I can anything about that, so let's consider it being normal. What you'll think of that warning though, I of course leave it up to you. If you suspect I'm a pro hacker or something, don't install it.)

I did a Let's Play of this:
I'm assuming the item graphics are placeholders---that something a bit more colorful is going to follow soon?
If you'd like any help with them, I have some ideas, like adding a square blue outline for all items so that there's visual consistency---the brain of the player will automatically recognize that "blue square = item" with that kind of consistency
Like, I created this outline for reference (but I figure I shouldn't do more than this until and unless you accept my help):
...scaled up, obviously...

Ooh, awesome!
It was fun to watch, thank you for your effort!
Glad you enjoyed this budget prototype, and yes, yes, yes, yes to everything you said at the end!
At the moment the game is in very early stage of development (worked on this few days so far), but everything will eventually be added, for example;
- The squares with numbers are indeed cheap placeholders, there will be icons and some visual effects for them.
- There will be more enemies in the future.
- There will be elite enemies in the future (bigger and stronger enemies that spawn occasionally).
- There will be bosses at the end of each stage in the future.
- There will be moving backgrounds, different stages and routes to take and in general some sort of goal to achieve with final boss
- There will be more weapons and maybe ships with different base stats and loadouts to choose from.
- I also plan to add local and online coop (up to two players planned), but this will probably come in the more distant future, heh.
Regarding item visuals, I already have things in the works.
I just need more time, but thank you very much for help and ideas, always welcomed.
I'm slowly working on icons for all items, so the boxes with numbers will eventually get replaced, maybe not in the nearest update, but sometime in near future for sure, as I'm working on these icons from time to time and it would be best to implement them while having all done, rather than only a part of them. Plus, there will be faaaaaar more items with different effects and rarity. (for now all is just dumped into one rarity with equally high chance to spawn). Everything will come with time, I'm trying to work on everything by little, rather than focusing on one thing.
Thank you again for recording gameplay, I didn't expect that.
It was fun to watch and somewhat informative, as it gives me a better view on how things are received and how the difficulty plays. Me and my brother get to around 70+ enemy level and there things get completely insane.
