@ Carnelian stopped in her tracks, her ears pivoting towards the sound of the heckler. How dare he! Just who did he think he was?! Who did he think SHE was?! Her teeth ground together and the urge to scream for her guards welled up inside her throat. No, no, stop. Calm, Carnelian. Calm, tender, jovial. He is but a child, ignorant of the pony he now insults. Let him cry and stamp all he wants, she will give him none of the satisfaction while receiving all of it. Having collected herself, the baroness slowly turned to greet the newcomer, her hooded deep blue eyes regarded him with cold calculation. Neighponese swords...possibly a follower of their martial arts, as well. Aggressive and fast. She would be looking out for these qualities. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance," she purred, slowly making her way over to him, setting one finely polished hoof in front of the other. "I am Baroness Carnelian Clout of House Koroundio, and your compliments are very appreciated. Original, as well. I don't remember any of my suitors suggesting that I participate in a beauty pageant, though I have every reason to believe that I would win~"

@@Literally Snails @@Fractured @ Being before the crowd earlier had energized the noble. Confused as they were, the attention and applause satisfied her needs. She would have liked more, but good deeds spread like molasses. A donation here, a financing there, sprinkle on a few subsidies, and she would own this town. Contrary to popular belief, money really did buy everything, and Carnelian had plenty to spare. Finally, the group arrived at the lobby. The baroness took a long time looking about at her surroundings and scoffed. So spartan, so dreary. Where was all the pomp and circumstance of glorious competition? Perhaps if she donated to add a few banners and fountains, she'd be able to convince the proprietors to name this building after her, or maybe just a room. A ballroom, for sure. With plenty plenty of crystal. "Well this is certainly pitiful. Surely the proprietors could have spared some expense towards frivolity. Instead, I'm left with the impression of solemnity and boredom."

@@Fractured @@Literally Snails Carnelian turned her head towards the finally awake guard, scoffing slightly at his incompetence. "It is about time." Turning towards the announcer, she gave warmer smile. "Come along, dear. Destiny awaits!" Without waiting for further comment, off she trotted towards the arena.

@@LotusPeony "Foals' animation? Do you honestly believe that I, a grown mare, would watch anything from that list? "Though I did try once. I lasted a whole of one minute before I turned it off. Mindless drivel. "I fear for this latest generation of Equestrian foals, and any adult pony who still enjoys this filth should be committed."

There was a crowd, here? When did they show up? How did she not notice? Immediately, Carnelian turned her attention to them, smiling broadly and waving towards her audience. "Beautiful citizens of Bangcolt, it is my honor to come to your great city to compete in these challenges! It is my intention, no matter whether I win or lose, to keep in mind the culture that made this possible! As such, I announce my motion to donate five million bits to Bangcolt's charity!" Exactly what charity that was, Carnelian hadn't the darndest clue. Tax write-offs and PR were the name of her game, but also intimidation. What could be said of her after willingly dropping millions of bits without batting an eyelash?

@@Literally Snails The crystal baroness guffawed and settled back. Flashing an enigmatic grin, she tossed her mane over her other shoulder. "Why should I let you know what I'm capable of? If you believe my wealth is my one and only power, then you are free to join the thousands of ponies who believe that, as well. My abilities will be revealed in the arena, but I will leave you with this one hint: there will be blood."
-
"Hello, dears. Please, have a seat and a cup of tea. Only one biscuit per pony, however. Anymore and you will be removed. "Anyway, on to the pleasantries. I'm sure you have questions."

@@Literally Snails The baroness began to tap her hoof as she waited for the attendant to notice her. Finally, she gave up and turned to the seemingly crazed pony with a microphone in her face. "Well, assuming we will be here for a while, I don't see the wrong in humoring your demands for the moment. I'm Baroness Carnelian Clout of House Koroundio. My estate includes the majority of the gem mines in the Crystal Empire, as well as a few manors scattered throughout Equestria. Anyway, enough about me. To whom have I made my acquaintance known?"

@@Literally Snails Carnelian resisted the urge to call her guards to drag this lunatic away. Not only did she not have an escort, but as another competitor, any fight with her would most likely grow ugly. No, she needed to know who she was up against before she threw any punches. Lunatic or not, she was not disgracing herself on the first day. Instead, she cracked a disarming smile and gently pushed the microphone away. "I appreciate your enthusiasm, dear, but I'm in a bit of a hurry." Her gaze returned once more to the pony at the gate, waiting for his response.

At 10 AM sharp, the next train pulled into Bangcolt station. While the majority of passengers hurriedly shuffled out of the station, one crystal pony remained behind, looking about at the strange setting she found herself in. Carnelian Clout was no stranger to travel, but this was the first time she had gone travelling naked. Not naked in the sense that she wasn't wearing any clothing (though that wouldn't have mattered anyway), but naked in the fact that she had left her entire entourage behind. Guards, hoofmaidens, servants, none of them were there now to protect, service, or comfort her in this strange land. However, it had to be done. She was here for an important reason, and to come with an entire retinue would not have had the effect she desired. She had come to prove and improve her talents, and the presence of guards would have given her the appearance of uncertainty. Her powers were rusty, but they could still hold up. Or so she hoped the others would believe. Once more checking her map, she made her way to the coliseum. Taking a deep breath, she raised her head and approached the door stallion. Determination was written on her face as well as in her pose. "Greetings," she announced. "I am here for the tournament, what is required of me to be accepted?"

spoiler What if for a major plot twist of Starlight Glimmer...
Hazard Time replied to Singe's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
As much of a twist as that would be, I think there have been a whole lot of hints dropped that Starlight was faking her friendship with Twilight. She does seem to be learning some legitimate lessons, and the way she still feels guilty about her actions as the leader of Our Town really shows that she's either an incredibly good actor, or she has no interest in going back to being a villain. -
Excellent! Just got my grades back from this term: A in Introductory Microbiology, A in Ballroom Dance II, A- in Russian Culture III, and B in Intro to Materials Science Life's good XP

music Do you think music from like 70s, 80s and 90s was the best?
Hazard Time replied to Fluttere's topic in Media Discussion
There were some pretty good bands and songs from every era, but also some bad ones. In my honest opinion, the music industry hasn't changed at all. Popular taste is what dictates what'll fail and what'll succeed, regardless of whether or not they're good. But I can't deny that I wish I lived in the same era when this song played on the radio XP -

I...can't seem to find anyone here by that name :\

Gotcha! Also, it says that I cannot add new characters. Is that because I need to be a member of the forums for a time, or put in a minimum number of legit posts?
-
Will do! Probably the biggest question I have atm is where I can submit my OCs to be approved for RP?

My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Applejack How did you find MLP Forums?: I was actually looking for an active MLP RP forum and stumbled onto this! How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: It was the Winter of 2013. I was bored, and maybe a little curious about MLP, so I booted up Netflix and gave it a try. Been a proud FiM fan ever since XP Hiya! You can call me Hazard or Haz, whichever you prefer! I've been RPing on and off for the past eight years, the last two of them in the MLP fandom. While I have more, I have four OCs that I actively RP: Low Key, a timid unicorn bartender and my ponysona; Aegis, a traumatized veteran; Baroness Carnelian Clout, a power hungry and narcissistic noblemare from the Crystal Empire; and Succulent Scent, a positive perfumier and the crystal mare who currently occupies my avatar XP I'm also really interested in tabletop games, so the fact that you guys have a subforum for that really sold me! Can't wait to interact with you all!
