Maybe it is.
If my most memorable, favorite place in Equestria and first thing to come to mind is that absolutely gorgeous cave Maud Pie found outside Ponyville; then maybe I AM more of an Underground being!...we got any screenshots of her gorgeous grotto?

Ah yes, the water is splashing! Hard to tell when not much else is moving, subtle it seems.
While i have to ponder the capacity for gems to *emit* light like that, that can be allowed on the grounds of fantasy setting. Heavens know, that D&D does that enough times! What I question though, is if it counts as a "Grotto."
My dictonary just says its a type of cave, and caves are "deep, low, hollow places inside the earth." Which then makes me think caves can't really be on the sides of mountains then...
So many questions are raised, the more answers you get.

There's a lot of different forms of luminescence - could be that some luminescent mineral is present within the crystals naturally. As for grotto status, Google Dictionary says a grotto is a small picturesque cave and a cave is a natural underground chamber in a hillside or cliff (presumably as opposed to a sinkhole), in which instance the definition would fit the bill very neatly in this case.
