Much of it also depends on what era of jedi we are talking about here, as the old republic jedi were more traditionalist and forbid attachments etc Lukes order allowed such things as marriage attachment as more akin to the "modern day american christian" as they defined as jedi but did not let the ways of the jedi define every part of their life and every decision they made was not based of off the order. If that makes any sense.

Again forbidding attachment does not mean you cant feel. The simply could not form binding attachments with anything to the point that they could not let go when the time game or that it interfered with their duties. That does not mean they cannot love, that they cannot have friends, etc. Marriage was out but even that was not 100% true. In cases of need like Ki Adi Mundi a Jedi could have many wives. 

In short the Jedi of the older eras were more cautious about feelings and what connections they permitted because they knew the dangers they could present. But that did not mean that they were always forbidden or that they were commanded not to feel at all.
