So, the EU has basically banned memes. Good job European politicians. You're somehow making American politicians look good.

The issue with revolutions is that you need people united against a common cause. And governments had enough time to figure out how to implement laws that distrupt people's communication. This law is another major step towards it, as the uncontrolled internet is a powerful tool of influence and dangerous to the ruling "elite", hiding behind a wall of mostly mindless police forces who are doing what they are told to, protecting the government blindly believing they are doing this because government must survive. The issue is, if you take away people's voice. If you take away their tools to legally fight for their rights. The only thing that is left for a human being is violence, because feeling of helplessness gives birth to it.
If EU keeps going the direction they are, ignoring the voices od millions but following the ideas of a few who "know better", they are on realistic route to creating unrest in between the society which technically COULD lead to riots eventually. EU has no military force on its own, their military force consists of armies provided to them by member countries. Once people realize that they can start pressuring their own governments to leave EU, and eventually just ignore it. Once countries DO start leaving EU, because this article promotes censorship and control... it'll become interesting. But the worst part of it all is that once you DO leave EU, you will need to argue with your own country government to REVERSE the directive. And in pro-eu governments, this will be imppssible.

looking from the creators standpoint and seeing how the copyright system is handled these days the copyright laws need an update but this update is not what anyone needs basically everyone is dropped straight into the deep end in some way or another.
The giants like google would have virtually no competition ever since no one else can afford to implement the filters or purchase the licences for the stuff and im pretty sure no one would even buy any licences so the revenue the artists are lobbying on is not really there. and pretty big amount % of the audience some brands or franchises have come from fan art and other copyright infringements which in the longer run work as a benefit to the brand or franchise in question.
so shutting all of that down would be pretty big loss to pretty much everyone. The idea of the updated copyright system is good but how they modeled it is pretty terrible.
