  1. Well, well I was not expecting this. I am flattered. I am happy there are those who feel I understand Celestia well and see me as one of a kind. I often feel I am the minority of thought when it comes to how I defend and stand up for her. I admit, it was partly for the selfish reason of wanting to make certain Princess Celestia is not misused that I sent in an application for her and worked so hard in making sure I roleplay with her.
  2. @@Dulset Tarn, Just did, this will allow it so I don't bring an OOC conversation to the thread.
  3. I actually play Celestia officially in the Equestria Empires section, the 'canon' roleplay section. On how powerful I have played her... I haven't really had the chance to show off her power or really even her magic apart from levitating objects. Oh, and recently changing her appearance so she and Luna can have a night of fun in Canterlot without anypony recognizing them. I will say this, as she is over a 1000 years old and has ruled for more then this amount of time... I do see her as perhaps being more magically powerful except for her sister and Starswirl the Bearded, putting aside Discord as he is a chaotic reality warper. Also Queen Chrysalis and Tirek, as they had situational advantages. King Sombra, not sure but I will say no as she defeated that dark tyrant with the help of her sister Luna (with or without the EoH). The important thing is I found it doubtful any OC would be able to defeat her when it comes to magical power. Also, because of her great age and wisdom I also play her as being intuitive of her subjects and others. Often guessing or inferring their intentions and thoughts without them actually saying anything, the reading of body langauges.
  4. I have even come to like Shining Armour and Princess Cadance as characters, feeling they have proven themselves as interesting in my eyes.
  5. @@Dulset Tarn, Ah well that explains a lot, especially for why we have butted heads so much and come in conflict one with the other. I have felt the show has manages to stay good and fairly well written even up to this point, especially when compared to most of the crap animated shows the US puts out (such as Cartoon Network). My only major complaints are with the writers not the characters or show itself. More particularly that of Discord's reform. I am really, really not a fan of this idea. I feel everything I loved about this character has been lost, that instead I have disappointing, annoying. and weak character compared to what Discord was in Return of Harmony. Then we have the frustrating fact that the writers still wont given much if any attention to Celestia and Luna... which is why I look to the books and comics for additional characterization involving these characters, and how the writers haven't built much on Twilight since she become a princess. ------------------------------ Despite this Twilight Sparkle is still my favorite character out of the Mane Six, heck out of all the show, followed by Rarity. I still consider, at least I think I still do, Luna as my favorite of the Royal Sisters yet I find myself defending and protecting Celestia far more often. Heck I play Celestia here on MLP Forums and one of my characters is a loyal guard of the Princess of the Sun, so that should tell you something about my thoughts for her.
  6. @@Dulset Tarn, ... so not only are you criticizing Celestia, you're now criticizing Cadance? More in both threads you spoke ill of Twilight, leaves me to wonder what your feelings Luna is. I'm starting to think you're just seeking to hate on the royally in MLP:FiM, alicorns, or the princesses in general. Sheesh
  7. Well while I wouldn't fully agree with that I would counter that Twilight has had 4 seasons to develop and learn as a character, thus get to the point where she wouldn't make a lot of mistakes. Sighs I think I am done for the day, you have already tired me out. I think I will sit back and see who else posts and come back later.
  8. @@Cleverclover, Someone that is perfect wouldn't be able to make mistakes at all. She took charge, kept others calm, and offered direction without freaking out herself while doing so.
  9. @@Dulset Tarn, When the royal guards came to her for guidance what did Twilight do, what of the citizens? The only mistake she make was leaving her friends to find they Tree of Harmony by themselves, after being pressured into doing such by them and she came right back after Discord spoke with her. She is young and not perfect. Stop demanding perfection from Equestrian leaders. Heck if we were to even begin to apply real world standards Luna would have been given life imprisonment if not killed for almost, if inadvertently, committing genocide of her subjects if she succeeded in bringing eternal night... though I don't believe there are any laws for a leader that has been possessed by a dark force.
  10. Please do not change my post without permission! I am not appreciative of such changing of my post, especially since the rest does still apply. Well she was never really given any royal duties after becoming a princess, that is the problem. Also not fully true, when Celestia and Luna disappear she stepped up and took charge as a leader should in Princess Twilight Sparkle.
  11. Fluttershy has never shown any greater interest then taking care of animals. Rarity's drive and motivation has always been to be a famous fashion designer. Rainbow Dash's goal has always been to become a member of the Wonder Bolts. Applejack has shown no greater focus then in her family and running the farm. Pinkie Pie has shown little more then wishing to be the best party pony around. Twilight, though has shown so much more. A gifted unicorn with a special talent in magic, personally trained and mentored by the greatest authority figure in Equestria in a 1000 years, the one to lead in the rediscovery of the Elements of Harmony and with her friends rising up to face challenges that few ponies would even dream of. Twilight's friends are her companions in the journey of discovery of who she is and in learning what friendship is. This is Twilight Sparkle, this is the one who would become an alicorn and princess.
  12. Well that is the thing, while it was through the help of her friends that Twilight overcame the threats before her... she was the leading/driving force in overcoming such challenges. She has proven she would made a good leader, and has many of the traits needed to become such. Unlike any of her friends, her destiny has from the beginning proven to be something greater. As the personal student of Celestia, her talent for magic itself, her organization and willingness to take the lead, along with the purpose of being personally trained by Celestia all point to her being becoming a leader.
  13. @@Dulset Tarn, Please it is not based on that, heck all Cadance did to become an alicorn was defeat a witch that was attacking her village with love. It is the realization of an ideal that led Twilight to becoming an alicorn. That and lets note that without Twilight not a single one of the major threats that Equestria faced recently would have been defeated. Nightmare Moon would have brouht eternal night, as the others didn't have a clue what was going on, Discord would have then come around and turned the land to chaos, and King Sombra would have regained control of the Crystal Empire without a challange, and the changlings... well they may admittingly have to look elsewhere for food since Equestria would be a living hell at that point. Twilight is the key stone, with the pieces of the arc her friends. Without her the arc would fall along with Equestria, but without her friends Twilight would have never risen up to the height she is now. @@Cleverclover, That is one episode, and the fridge logic has already been pointed out for it. Though I will note that Celestia was trusting Discord given his good behavior and because there wasn't at the time reason to doubt him, with hope later not that he was still on their side.... putting aside my own 'dislike' of Discord reform and finding the whole of his development not to my liking. I feel the writers wrote themselves in a corner with how they handed Discord' reform.
  14. @, I can agree with that, it wouldn't have been for the better if Twilight became an alicorn before she did.
  15. @@Cleverclover, Can you back this up? I admit, the fact the writers seem disinterested in developing Celestia's character or go into want she actually does while the Mane Six save the day doesn't help, but you can really only criticize a few of her discisions. Even then you don't have enough of the 'full picture' to really complain, only bits and pieces of the situation.
  16. @, I feel a full 4 seasons of character development and growth from Twilight, will for the most part prove effective in assuring Twilight wont become evil or corrupt as an alicorn princess thus becoming a threat to Equestria. Heck, Celestia has had a 1000+ years to fall from grace yet she hasn't thus proving that power does not always corrupt. @@StitchandMLPlover, I wouldn't actually call him a ghost, but more suggest he had become a shadowy being of sorts that become fully solidified as a pony on almost reaching his goal of regaining the Crystal Heart and the Crystal Empire.
  17. @, Well I do admit, since the royal sisters are born alicorns while Cadance and Twilight transformed into such.... I feel there would be difference, counting aging. That and it has been confirmed Twilight will not outlive her friends.
  18. @@Dulset Tarn, Twilight is a member of the royal family, and just recently ascended into an alicornhood... yes it makes sense. Especially when once considers Faust and thus arguably Celestia had always intended Twilight to be her successor. Even the Tree of Harmony shows Twilight will come after the alicorn sisters, discussed in the Journal of the Two Sisters.
  19. @@Dulset Tarn, Well when Celestia first meet young Cadance as an alicorn in that astral plane shown in the MMC she did officially adopt the foal into the royal family, thus her gaining princess. As such it makes sense that Celestia would crown Twilight a princess as well once she was an alicorn, though given the marriage of Cadance and Shining Armour... Twilight was technically already a member of the royal family.
  20. @@Roughshod, Again Celestia did not turn Twilight into an alicorn, she merely pointed and prodded her student into the right direction to become one herself. Also do not forget or put aside the book Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell where it offers Cadance's origins, nor the book The Journal of the Two Sisters where is offers more lore involving the alicorn sisters and the Tree of Harmony.
  21. @@DriftKing16, @@Pineapple Bloom, Your guesses are too young, they are older then this as the Mane Six live adult lives and they're not teenagers.
  22. No, not without some time to slowly, and officially, gain the trust of other ponies and slowly grow as a character in the show (since Equestria Girls in noncanon). Also only as a recurring side character, not as another member of the mane cast. I will admit this is partly bias because I did not like how they tried to convince me of Sunset Shimmer's growth in a single movie or the fact the writers had to push Twilight and her human friends down just to raise Sunset up. Twilight has had 4 season to grown and develop yet it was Sunset who saved the day in the second movie. You really want me to buy that Hasbro? Of course, I have similar yet also very different feelings on Discord but that is for another thread.
