What do you think about Pinkie Pie being "evil" in some videos?

Pinkie Pie is in a lot of internet videos. In a few of them, she is evil and torturing her friends. I am not hating on this at all. I watched a couple videos of this and thought "I don't like this. I'm just going to stop watching it, not hate on it." Anyways, what are your thoughts? Do you like to watch them or don't care for them? And any ideas on how this started? I really like Pinkie Pie and those videos scare me. Like I said, not hating. In fact I think the creators of those videos actually do a pretty good job animating it, the ponies look just like how they do on the show, except a little creepy.

I think Pinkie is seen by some as one of those character archetypes who comes from a depressing background, so she suppresses sadness by forcing herself to laugh and smile. That's what I think led fans to making things like this, anyway. Party Of One contributed as well of course.

 

Personally, I hate it, and I refuse to watch anything of that sort. If other people enjoy it though, I don't really care.

The fact that makes me like those types of things is that she is in canon, bipolar. It makes some sense when these things are made as she has that type of personality to explore with those situations.

Meh, it's all just harmless fanon really, how people want to interpret her is up to them. However, the 'psychomaniac' fanon archetype for Pinkie is rather overused, and sometimes just goes way to far with things like Smile HD (*shudders*), so maybe it's time for the fandom to come up with some new ideas I say.

Naw, I got the same feeling. Particularly when she thought she was finished and she started to frown but got interrupted. It was almost like a compulsive need that she couldn't fight no matter how hard she tried.

I think it could be interpreted either way. Unless the creator has specifically said that's what it was there's really no information to say it's one or the other.

I have personally never really cared for this part of the fandom, the one that makes such dark things about the ponies.

 

But hey, every Brony likes what he or she does, and I have no say in what they should read/watch, as long as it makes them happy, I don't care. ^^

This actually makes a lot of sense, I think some of the biggest contributors to this side of Pinkie is by some of her biggest fans. The ones who love her so much, they would want to really dig into this lesser seen side of Pinkie Pie, as strange as it is to say.

 

As I said though, like what you want to. I'm not really fond of the art and such, but if you enjoy it, that's all that matters to me.

Huh. Well I'm kinda glad that's just an alternate ending. Ruins the original meaning and fun I took out of Smile HD.

I personally don't care for it but I think that it might be because of Party Of One and the Smile song. Another motive to make them is all the horror fics some fans like to make because they want to entertain other people for fun.

To see videos and fanfictions and the like experimenting with the idea, while I avoid them like the plague, is acceptable for me and I have no problem with their existence.

My primary problem comes in that a lot of the fandom seems to treat it as though its an unspoken canon, holding the belief that, if provoked, Pinkie would actually become a homicidal maniac, which rips my heart out all the way to the sun. Pinkie is a character who relies very heavily on kindness, yes, but she doesn't get angry when abandoned; she gets sad, depressed, and loses self-esteem. She does NOT snap. She does NOT grow homicidal. And there isn't one goddamn instance where she would even consider chopping up her friends and turning them into cupcakes. 

 

So yeah.

How they probably originated was Cupcakes, but I really don't know. And to say whether I like them or not, it kinda depends. Its more of how the video is shown then the idea. It is nice that Pinkie is getting this depth from the fans, even though its leading to insanity it just makes her more real. There are some pretty good ones, like "We're Goin' For a Ride" which has no gore in it, just insane Pinkie Pie. I may be prejudice though, cause it contains THE BEST SONG EVER!

As a matter of fact, I hate it. I hate how the cute, lovable happy best pony is portrayed as either an evil villain or some psycho killer. It paints a bad picture to her character and ruins it for people who formally thought she was best pony.

 

I like it when Pinkie is portrayed more as a funny Looney Tunes character not some pony who bakes Rainbow Dash into a cupcake.

So her screaming at Spike, Madame le Flour's choice words, her getting somewhat violent towards Rainbow Dash by smashing her head into the floor with her plot, and her light fury of when she went to the barn to find out what she thought her friends were doing doesn't count as getting angry? Boy, would I like to see what your definition of anger is.
