I'm not like most people who hates Equestria Girls. I love the movie and I will watch it again.

 

It was not that well recieved and the biggest reason for that I think is that the first movie of My Little Pony should be about ponies, right? But this one wasn't but do you think it would have been better received by bronies if it would just have been a regular episode of the series instead of a movie?

It was mainly hated because of the stereotypical environment.

 

I thought that a full-on pony movie would've been better because Princess Twilight Sparkle and Twilight's Kingdom could've happened in the movie, so that way, since Twilight has her kingdom, it would jump to what is now season 5

I didn't hate the movie. I didn't like some of the things that happened in the movie, but overall it was kinda good. And as Thunder Dash said, it was hated mostly because of the sterotypical environment. And a full-on pony movie might've been better, depending on what it was about.

I was not a big fan of it because it did not have a very movie like story line. if you take away the setting and the songs there is not really a hole lot going on. it really just feels like a pilot episode for a spin off show (that's not going to be as good). the only good story line in the movie is you get to see twilight meeting the other main 6 for the first time so that was cool but other then that it just kind bland. I think "twilight kingdom" had a much more movie like story line to it.

I doubt they could have packed it into an episode, but they might have pulled off a two-parter if they removed some of the songs. I still think it would have been hated on, though, due to the cliche and stereotypical high school setting.

 

But I do agree, the first MLP feature-length film should have been about ponies. I hope they someday make a movie about the CMC getting their cutie marks, since you can't put that in just one episode, either.

This, and the combination of the first movie not being really about ponies. I think it still could have pulled through, but the supremely cliche environment and plot really just nailed in the coffin, and began to pour dirt into the grave.
