Got paper. Art on!

 

So I decided to take up drawing. I am doing line art for now but I will move on once I get better. My first 2 drawings ever (serious drawings) and first 2 ponies are Chibi Rainbow Dash and Princess Luna!

 

 

 

 

Princess Celestia has been completed!... I had trouble with her though. The hooves and giant wings gave me issue but in hindsight I really should have drawn her base bigger. It's all in the learning experience I guess

 

 

 

Chibi AJ has been completed! 8:29AM 6/9/2014. Her right eye is a bit derp and I couldn't get her hat down but she turned out decent in my opinion ^^

 

 

Octavia has been completed! 7:45 AM 6/10/2014. I say she turned out quite classy!

 

 

 

I made a new OC and I set out to make her design. Her Cutie Mark is a Bass Clef with a glow bracelet for all who are curious x3

Yay! I'm so glad you decided to start a thread for these Chibi RD is adorable and you know how I feel about Luna

Celestia is great, you really captured the majesty of the best princess! I want to draw her next but I'm conscious about the wings too actually! Looking down the list of pictures, you can see the improvement, you get better with each one my friend

Thank you for the compliments ^^ It was a daunting task to do the wings, the hind legs, and her face. Her face took a few redraws, her wings as well, but the legs.. oh my gosh they took at least 20 minutes of trying to get them at least that good. I went through so many versions of them.

 

I am either going to a do a Chibi or a full pony next. I may go for a Chibi to switch it up a bit.

You're describing all the worries I have about Celestia, I've only drawn the Apple siblings so far but I'm not sure I'm ready for Alicorns yet Full credit for tackling them so early on! That should be reassuring actually, 20 minutes isn't too long and the outcome is great. Plus with each redraw you learn something new

Personally I think Luna was my best one so far just by her pose and looks alone. Though drawing wise Celestia would have to be my best because I was able to pull her off and a really nice look.

 

Since you pretty much requested it sure lol. I may draw her later so I can do a cycle of 2 drawings a day.

Couldn't agree more, if you combine the pose of Luna and improved technique of Celestia you could have one seriously cool Alicorn. I'm partial to like the Celestia more because Celestia > Luna as y'all know  

 

Great idea! Cant wait to see it, I might have a go at Fluttershy later

j/k They look good for your first few serious drawings, especially the princesses. Those two are not the easiest ponies in the barn to draw.

I have no idea what magic I pulled for the Princesses to be my best drawings xD Or at least I think they're my best. I guess Chibi isn't my thing and I should stick to regular ponies

Not a bad start at all. Digging through my old drawings from a couple years ago is always a huge shocker. Always good to save your drawings in a bin or binder or whatever to look back on the progress you've made, which in time will show majorly.

 

Anywho, chibi is always super adorable to me. it's great to explore other styles than the show's. As long as you get the basic structure of the pony down pretty darn perfect it'll add up to all the other portrayals people have of mlp(with subtle changes, obviously) nothing wrong with mimicking a nice style you see in someone else's art. I do it all the time. The ears I use for my ponies now is used from some fan art i saw of Cadance

 

Keep at it and you'll definitely progress. I can't wait to see more

I am putting up my art on my wall this entire summer to see the progress 

 

Chibi are quite adorable but I still gotta get them down  Through more practice I am sure I will get better with them. It seems I do best with regular ponies rather than chibis    I have been following some art tutorials for the ponies so I have been copying their style. I think they have a not bad style that I can mimick though I will make my own alterations here and there with some touch ups. Princess Luna turned up better from the original in my opinion because I decided to make her eyes closed and altered a few other small things. She looks quite nice like that if I do say so myself. 

 

Every day I should be posting a new picture depending on how I feel or if I end up sleeping a whole lot. Other times I may draw 2. Chibi AJ and Princess Luna I both drew over a night xD. Glad you can't wait to see more   I hope my progression shows everyday or so.

Really? The bigger it is the worse it is. I usually write with a mix of cursive and print when it's smaller. I'm not sure how that's nice but thank your for the compliment anyways

I got bored and decided to draw Lyra   As you can tell I failed to put down her full name because my hand writing just got worse as it went on so I just left her name down as Lyra. Besides that I think she turned out nice!

Once I can get my hands on some color pencils and a pencil sharpener I plan on practicing with coloring some in. I can imagine Octavia looking gorgeous after being colored in.
