Quickdraw nodded, then sat down at a nearby table. He laid the deck of cards at the center, then began to shuffle them.

 

"Hope you know how to play Blackjack," he said as he passed out the cards. When he was finished, he began to look at his cards, a seven of spades and a one of hearts.

 

"So... you've seemed to accept Steel quite nicely," he said, drawing a card from the deck.

@, Clover looked at her own cards, a Queen of hearts and an eight of spades. Keeping her face impassive, so as not to give away the nature of her hoof of cards, Clover replied.

 

"Well," she said, "I've always tried to see the best in everypony. If Steel is genuinely sorry for his actions and wants to make up for them, and my spell proved that was so, I think that he ought to be given a second chance. I always like to help other ponies. That was, incidentally, how I got my cutie mark and also how I was ascended. It all stemmed from helping other ponies."

After soaking her front hooves in the pot, Bliss turned to lie on her back and stick her back hooves in the water, looking humoursly lazy, but content. Her mind floated away with the events of the day...feelings for Blaze when she was able to reach him with her magic... Wondering how he was holding up against the own evil that was within his body.

 

"Ohh...." she sighed and turned on her belly, treaching her wings out. Her mind then moved on to other things, more home related...She missed her Hoopla...her sweet draconequus...She missed him cuddlying her like a foal, snuggling his big stag face into her belly. She missed his leopard paw stroking her back, and the sounds he made when she nibbled his ears. Then quite abruptly a tear trickled down her cheek. "My sweet Nights Hoopla...I wonder what you are doing at this very moment..."

 

After several minutes of soaking her hooves, she lightly tiphoofed to her bathroom and pulled out disinfected ointment, and gauze. Then tenderly applied the ointment and wrapped her golden hooves up. When she was done she looked at herself in the mirror and chuckled.

 

"I look like a racing pony!" She admired her guaze work. One would know she had golden hooves since now they looked to be an off color white, nearly blending into her coat. After a moment of giggling, she turned off the light and curled up on the bed, snuggling into the covers. "I hope to see you Nights...in my dreams..."

Quickdraw looked at the card he drew: a five of clubs. Somewhat satisfied, he put it in his hoof.

 

"Yeah, well, you're one of the few that's ever given him any sort of chance." He arranged his cards. "He's a bit of a hothead; tends to talk more with his blade than with his mouth. But he's loyal to the ones he allies himself with, and he don't have a lot of those..." He looked at Clover and Lightning. "I gotta say, y'all are the largest group of ponies he's ever trusted. What he's been through tends to make a pony on edge; I guess he's taken an interest in y'all."

@, "Everypony needs to have friends," Clover said, laying down her hoof. She decided to stick with what she had rather than risk going bust. "I could not have gotten this far without the help of my friends; both the ones in the group, and also my friends back in Trottingham. Maybe Steel realises this, himself. In any case, having a couple of extra stallions along might come in handy along the way."

Quickdraw laid down his hoof. He felt like he had enough.

"I guess," he said plainly. "I myself don't really have time for things like that. Never was good at makin' friends anyway." Seeing that Clover had also laid down her hoof of cards, he decided to reveal his. All in all, he had a total of thirteen.

@, Clover revealed her hoof, which was eighteen. "Well, I probably wouldn't have made friends at all, had I not been seated next to a friendly pegasus filly named Stargazer back when I started school," she replied. "Before that, I was a quiet filly and didn't really have friends. But being with Stargazer opened me up to making more friends, and made me a better pony. Cuz of what my friends did for me, I always try to make friends with other ponies. True, since my ascension, it's a bit more difficult. A lot of other ponies tend to see me as being above them, which I'm not."

Quickdraw shrugged at the fact he lost, then stood up. "I'm gonna hit the hay," he said to Clover. "G'night." He picked one of the beds that wasn't taken, then sat in it. After quickly polishing his gun, he laid down and slowly closed his eyes, falling into a deep sleep.

The sunrise came right on que of Celestia's will, and the rays shined through the newly patched balcony glass, and through the individual bedroom windows. Bliss groaned and turned her back away from the window, tossing a pillow over her head. Then as if by que knowing her body sensed that a new day was here...her body signaled that it was in dire need of immideatly 'release'. She groaned again, not wanting to get out of the soft bed...but the longer she waited, the more her bladder groaned in annoyance.

 

"Always when the sun comes up..." she said in a grumpy low whisper, and slowly got out of bed. As she put all her weight on her hooves, she noticed thankfully that the pain wasn't as bad this time, meaning more likely another day of healing in this manner, she'd be completely cared for. But as she took a step forward she felt a new kind of pain...muscle achs.

 

"Ouch...gods are these my legs?" She wobbled through her bedroom and into the bathroom, looking about ready to fall over. Once in the bathroom she sat on the latren to do her business, "I must be more out of shape then I realize...or I'm just not used to this much physical excitment."

 

After a few moments, she flushed the latren and washed her hooves before levitating a brush over to get the bedhead syndrom look out of her mane and tail, then opened her door and peered out into the main living area.

 

"Hmm...guess no pony is up yet." She observed as she left the security of her bedroom and headed to the nearest sofa. She laid down and stretched her wings, taking up most of the sofa and laid back, enjoying the new warmth of the morning sun.

Hurricane felt the warms of the sun on her black coat. She pushed her face deeper into the soft cloud and snuggled next to it with a pleased smile on her face. "This is the life." she sighed. Then, her ears seemed to wake up as she heard the sounds of car horns, street noise and yelling ponies. Her smile then faded into an annoyed scowl. "Manehatten." she said with resentment. She got up on the cloud and stretched before tensing up from discomfort. "Ow, everything hurts." she said as she stood up normally. All of her muscles were sore from the night before.

Raze slowly opened his eyes, as the outside noises of Manehattan woke him up. He got himself out of his bed, and slowly walked towards the outside balcony, taking a seat, on a nearby chair.

 

Quickdraw was still sleeping when a loud honk from outside jolted him awake. He quickly grabbed his gun and started aiming it at random directions. Quickly realizing there was no actual danger, he set the gun on the floor before laying back in bed, staring at the ceiling.

 

Steel Tempest woke himself up, and, after taking a few minutes for him to stop feeling drowsy, decided to take an early morning fly around the block to get his wings moving. He grabbed his blade, and soon he was off, although he was a bit sore from yesterday. After about a few minutes or so, he flew back to his cloud, then gathered more clouds around him to make an even bigger one with lots of space for him to stand on. Once he was finished, he began to practice with his sword, moving the wind with his blade and moving gracefully on the cloud platform.

Hurricane watched Steel's actions with interest and curiosity. she didn't know what he was doing with his sword. It make sense to her that a pony would attack nothing. "Hey Buddy," she yelled over to him. "oxygen isn't exactly a worthy opponent." she said flying over to him. She landed on a far end of his cloud platform.

Bliss spotted Raze the zebra had finally awoke and was sitting outside on the balcony, seeming to do what she was doing. Feeling a need for some company, she got up and fluttered out the door, taking a seat parellel to him.

 

"Good morning," she smiled to him before letting out a loud drowsy yawn.

Clover awoke, wondering where she was for a moment before the sounds of the city awoke her. She took a leisurely shower, wincing at her bruises and thinking that they'd better stay where they were for the moment to recover from their hurts before pressing on. When she was finished, she carefully made her way out to the balcony where Lightning and Raze were.

Raze looked at her and smiled back. "Morning," he said, leaning back on the chair. He exhaled deeply. "Just thought I'd enjoy our last minutes of luxury. You know... before we head out again." He yawned as he looked down onto the streets below. Just then he noticed Clover approaching them, and with a smile, motioned for her to join them.

 

 

Steel Tempest looked at Hurricane. "I'm just practicing," he said while he stabbed the air. "Are you implying something?"

"I've just never seen a pony fight the air before. What's the point of that?" Hurricane asked. "I mean, if your gonna practice with something, shouldn't it be something that can actually fight back?" she asked curiously. "Although, I've never actually seen your fighting style before either. I'm no expert, but, with a real opponent, you can react to their reactions an moves. When you fight nothing, how can you prepare yourself for actual battle? Do you get what I'm saying?"

Bliss turned and also waved to Clover to join them as she stared back up at the sky, eyeing Hurricane and Steel were seeming to talk about something while the samuri pegasus was practicing his sword play.

 

"Well...we can't exactly head out and continue our journey till we find Blaze," she reminded Raze. "The entity has used him, to steal the books, now he's got Everlasts as well as your books on Star Swirl. If we have any hopes of continuing this venture we got to find Blaze..." She turned to Clover as she sat down, "but for the record I'm not going after Blaze for the books...I'm going after Blaze because he needs our help."

Steel smiled slightly. "I see," he said, then pointed at Hurricane with his blade. "Well then, you seem worthy enough. Why don't I test my skills against you once more?" He sheathed his blade back in its scabbard, and waited for a replay from the pegasus. "Let's see if you can make up for last night."

"Honestly," Hurricane started, "I would love to show you up right now, I really would, but I'm just too sore and I can feel every cut and bruise on my body." she said. "I'm not one to turn down a fight, but If we run into Royal Flush or one of his ugly friends again, I wanna be in optimum fighting condition." she said staring down the air and pulling out her dagger pretending to stab Royal flush. "I promise I'll embarrass you another time though." she smirked.

Steel smirked slightly. "Defeat me? You can try..." he said, as he resumed practicing.

 

"Ton! Hasag! Hasagi!" he shouted as he swung his blade, making three swift strikes and ending the third by swinging and firing off a whirlwind.

 

 

Raze remembered what happened to Blaze, then slowly nodded. "Yeah, I almost forgot. We need to find him right away, wherever he is."

@@Lightning Bliss, @, "I agree, Lightning," Clover replied. "Blaze needs to be freed from the entity which is possessing his mind, and he needs his friends to help him. We will be able to find him, whereever he's gone, with the totum I made. It will lead us to him so there's no need to worry about that. What we need to plan, however, is what we do when we catch up with him. I for one do not wish to hurt him, but the entity will, without a doubt, try and hurt us so we must be ready."

Blaze paced around the stage, there was a good chance they would be coming soon to capture him, but he couldn't allow that to happen, no matter what. They would do whatever they could to get their beloved Warrior back, to what intensity he did not know. He was undoubtedly ready for them, he'd been preparing all of the night preparing traps and a couple other surprises as well.

"I suppose..." Bliss thought about it for a second, "if my magic is willing...if I'm pushed hard enough, I could reignite my magic of peace again. It did seem to help get through Blaze, help to clear his visions and regain control of his mind, even if only for a short time...But the Entity got away before Blaze could fully escape its grasp... If my magic does play an effect, then we need to restrain Blaze long enough for the Entity to be pushed out with the help of peace and Blaze infulence...At the end of the day everypony," she sighed heavily, "Only Blaze can really escape this...this being who has a hold on him..."

 

She slowly began to untie the guaze from her hooves to inspect them, feeling more so helpless then anything...and unsure. Though a smile did come to her face seeing the results of keeping her hooves bandaged up a whole night. The cysts seemed to have completely disappeared thanks to the ointment. All that was left was red marks where they used to be.

 

"Thank Luna...they are healed...maybe now I can gallop when I need to finally."

"I'll go find the others." Hurricane said. "She started to get bored with watching Steel and flew off to go find Lighting Bliss. She went back to what was left of the hotel and finally found Lightning. "Hey Princess," she said to her casually. "Are you as bored as I am?" she asked with her expression dropping. "I really need something fun to do."

Bliss turned, started by Hurricane's sudden entrance after she thought she was spending time with Steel.

 

"Fun?" She blinked, "how can you think of fun at a time like this?! Blaze is still out there, and that THING that's possessing him has all of Raze's and Everlasts' books on Star Swirl the bearded to boot!"

 

Suddenly her stomach growled quite loudly like an angry bear.

 

"Erm...maybe I'm not in the mood for fun Hurricane...but I'm defiently am starving...Suppose somepony knows of a good diner we can go to before we go on the hunt for Blaze?" She stood up then, stretching her wings eagerly and fluttered up into the air, spun around to re-address the others, "we're burning daylight as it is...I'm not going to have any 'fun', as Hurricane will put it *giggles* on an empty stomach!"
