Blaze opened his eyes quickly and in a frantic act of fear grabbed his sword from the ground and pointed it at Lightning Bliss and Hurricane, "Stay away Dis....!" Blaze zoned back into reality and now had a clear view of the two mares standing in front of him. He was soaking wet, but what had caused them to pour water all over him?

She took a quick step back, her horn glowing out of reflex as Blaze pulled his sword on her and Hurricane...For a moment she panted in fear at the unknown intentions of what he was going to do with his blade...then lowered it down, looking a hetic mess of wet stallion.

 

"I...we...ah... " she took a breath to get her words out, "you were screaming... Hurricane tried to wake you and I just...I thought cold water might help you snap out of your nightmare...You looked desperate..."

Blaze calm wrapped his sword back up in the cloth around his waist and took a deep breathe. "Sorry about that, sometimes I tend to have, small nightmares here and now. It usually doesn't happen often, but when it does, it comes heavily." Blaze closed his eyes for a second to recall his dream. 'I better get my stuff together, they'll think I'm insane'

When blaze pulled out his sword, Hurricane blankly started at him for a second before busting up laughing and rolling around on the ground. "That was priceless." she got out between laughs. "You're soaking wet." she got up and tried to calm herself down. "It was this one's idea to submerge you in the ice bath." she said gesturing to Lightning Bliss. "I was the one who was trying to be nice for once." Hurricane was still trying to recover from her laughing fit. "It was so perfect though." she started cracking up again.

Bliss ignored Hurricane's laughing or the her sarcasm towards her methods of waking Blaze and quietly dropped the leaf she had carried the water in. "I'm sorry about that, the drenching you in water..." She pawed the ground feeling stupid, "you just seemed like you were in pain. It was more of a Nightfright then a Nightmare you know? But um...Here let me help you."

 

She quickly leapt into the air and hovered in front of Blaze for a moment before vigorously flapping her wings to the point she looked more like a humming bird as the constantly wing was drying off Blaze's coat and mane. After a few moments of flapping, she fluttered down to the ground. "There... Hope that dried you off a little bit?"

Raze was silently watching the commotion from behind the statue, laughing quietly as Lightning poured water all over Blaze. He walked out and called out to all of them.

 

"Glad to see you're all wide awake. Now then, let's all get packed up and ready to move while it's still pretty early in the morning. Let's get to it!" He went back into the lab, and packed up his sleeping roll and other things.

Everlast heard the marching order and put his pack on, keeping out a few maps. In the small space he slept in, he piled all the artifacts he wanted and then thought about charming them, but didn't want to possibly ruin anything by leaving his aura smudges all over, so he left them.

 He walked toward Raze and began to unroll the maps. "Sir, if you have time, I was wondering if you could take a look at these and tell me if any of them match the map you have. In addition, if you don't mind divulging, I would like to know everything you know about the trip ahead."

Bliss looked to Raze and nodded, before bowing to Blaze apologetically and galloped back to put her sleeping bag and packs on her back and went to the head of the group to wait for them to move onward. "Stupid Blissy..." she whispered to herself, "let's make yourself look even more like a dork in front of everpony... Blaze could have woken up without all that nonsense... Why do you always have to overstep yourself?"

Raze looked at the blank flank unicorn while taking out the map. "Please, no formalities. Now, on to what I know: we're gonna have to cross through Diamond Dog territory first, then we'll probably end up in the city of Manehattan if we need to stop for supplies and other things; that's the closest city we can go to once we get past the Diamond Dogs." He closed the map, and adjusted his blades. "Any questions?"

"A few, first how long do you plan on this trip taking? I suppose this was a question better asked before leaving, but oh well. Second, actually not much of a question, just something that bothers me. In Starswirl's notes, he mentioned the reward for alicorns taking this trip would be to become divine. I've been under the assumption that they were so already. Have I missed something?" Everlast paused for an answer and put the maps back into his pack.

 

This sounds exactly like the kind of trip Sunny would take us on. She was always after power, and to potentially be granted her greatest desire... I can't decide if that would be something I would want to see. Everlast sighed. Where is she now? he sighed again Why do I still care for someone who I know would have thrown us away in a heartbeat if she found it profitable?

Hurricane walked up to Blaze. she stood in front of  him and started giggling again. "C'mon, you gotta admit, that was funny." she smiled. then gathered herself together rand calmed herself. "So what was that nightmare about anyway?" she asked curiously. "It's kinda weird because I had a nightmare too. Your's looked pretty bad though."

Blaze looked at Hurricane, "I guess so", shaking himself a but more to get himself dried off, although Lightning Bliss did do a pretty good job to begin with. Blaze paused for a second, "Uh my nightmare, it was uh about...."

'Come on! Think you idiot!' He yelled to himself in his head

"It was about this reoccurring dream about fire, consuming me and what not, sometimes I fear I'm not the master of this element I make myself out to be".

@@Lightning Bliss, "Yes, we could start with easy magic tasks; in Manehatten, it might be easier, once we're past the Diamond Dogs," Clover replied. She had gone into the lab to collect her saddlebags and missed all the drama with Blaze's nightmare and Lightning's means of waking him up. She wished she hadn't cuz she could have done something.

She nodded to Clover and sat down, waiting for the others to get underway. To distract herself from the embrassing morning, she focused on their journey and the paths they were going to be taking. So...diamond dog territory... we can't just simply avoid that? I do hope they aren't interested in bits too. They love gems and diamonds...

"Sounds like that nightmare was bad." Hurricane said. "I've had some pretty bad nightmares myself." she sighed. "Anyway, I hear we're going through Diamond Dog territory. So I hope you don't have any precious gems with you." she said trying to make it sound scary. "I'll be flying high above them so they don't get me."

Raze looked at the unicorn. "Look, I don't exactly know how this works. I'm an earth pony, I don't dabble in magic and cast spells and whatnot. I take military jobs for a living, so I can't say whether or not Starswirl was wrong or whatever. As for the trip... I really can't say how long it will take, considering the route on the map goes beyond the edges of it. It may take a couple of days if we hoof it non-stop, but you know we can't do that. Maybe five days, at most?"

"That works Perfectly for me." Everlast bowed his head and fell back. He took a little time to look around for the last alicorn he hadn't talked to yet before he reached into his bag for the notebook. He began idly glancing over the familiar pages, flipping through pictures of weird characters and the descriptions about them.

Clover ignored Hurricane. As far as she was concerned, the pegasus mare was being childish, using silly taunts to amuse herself or something. In any case, Clover wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of a reaction, tho she wished that Hurricane would grow up. She was wrong tho in assuming herself safe just cuz she could fly; Clover had heard many stories of pegasi being knocked out of the sky by missiles hurled by the Diamond Dogs. They may be ugly and brutish, but they weren't stupid and their aim was good.

"You ever dealt with a diamond dog Clover?" Bliss asked aburptly after teleporting to Clover's side for better company, "I only had one rare aquiantence and it was over a territory dispute. I just know they are very spart, and passionate about their mines...I hope we just quickly pass through without them stopping us. They really don't have a reason to unless we have rare gems on us. I don't carry any myself. Just bits and..." She realized her charm around her neck, the locket of her and her husband Nights Hoopla.

The necklace itself was made of cheap gold, but the locket cover had a little pieces of red heart gems embedded around the sides. It was a personal touch Hoopla made for her himself, so that if she was ever on long trips without him, she would always have a little piece of him with her at all times. "Oh no..." she held the locket close to her chest, "you don't think they'd want this would you?"

Hurricane wondered how easy it would be for the diamond dogs to get to her onyx collar. Her mother gave it to her and it meant the world to her. She had to keep her dagger close to her too. It also contained a onyx gem. She didn't know what she would do if it was taken from her. she snapped out of her thoughts and back into reality. "Have you ever met a diamond dog?" she asked Blaze. "Do you know what they're like?"

Everlast heard the others speaking of diamond dogs taking their valuables and chuckled to himself. Anything worth anything on my person has very little currency value. Knowledge, Knowledge is my measurement. Even so, just to be sure, Everlast opened up to a page in his notebook and began an incantation. Using his magic, he ripped off a piece of bark from a tree and wrote the the character on from the open page on it. For a second his eyes flared and he was blinded, but then when he opened them again, He saw things in two colors, a light blue surrounded the living ponies around him, and everything else was black. He slowed down and fell to the end of the marching line so that he could follow the moving lights without being tripped by the environment he could no longer see.

@@Lightning Bliss, "Stargazer and I met them briefly when we were travelling to the Northlands," Clover replied. "They tend to be territorial and will certainly attack if they see gems. I don't have any on me cuz I left my crown at home; Stargazer's looking after it for me. It's best to stay on the ground in case of an attack; if they don't see any jewels on a pony, they might just leave you alone. However, if a pegasus is flying, they will just assume they're doing so cuz they're hiding gems and they'll throw rocks to knock them out the sky. A pony could get hurt by the rocks, more so if they end up falling. I could do a spell of concealment to hide your necklace, if you like."

She thought about it for a moment, wondering if that would be a good spell for her to practice with, but again she felt intimidated that it may still be too advanced. "Well," she thought it over again for another second, "I could just take it off and hide it in my saddle bags, but I worry if they try to take our bags away too. So that they could search on us... Maybe a conceal spell might help. It wouldn't hurt. Sure go ahead!" She smiled and stopped for Clover to perform it.

@@Lightning Bliss, Clover concentrated and her horn glowed. The spell was performed and the necklace disappeared from sight, altho it could still be felt.

 

"Don't take it off," she said to Lightning Bliss. "You could lose it since you can't see it. I'll take the spell off once we're out of the diamond dog territory."

Blaze looked at Hurricane, "Diamond Dogs are vicious, no compassion and their entire mind set is on gems. They'll do anything to get a hold of them."

Blaze stepped in front of Hurricane, "And I mean anything....."

He got closer in her face, "Anything...."

He looked directly in her eyes, "They. Will. Murderrr. You." Blaze got out of her face and started walking away.
