Limits of Fan Fiction

Hey, artistic freedom is the key factor here. If people need to express something in terms of erotica, bloodbaths and torture-porn, that's both their right and their business.

However, I'd thank such creators to realize that what they do is not for everyone and take the extra ten seconds out of their day to make sure it's properly tagged. It's really not that difficult, and frankly, those who fail to do so deserve every bit of flak they get.

This succinctly nails my view. Whether its the written word, or line art I agree that artistic freedom has to be allowed. The limits are not (and should not be) content limits but distribution and categorization limits. Like you said Thrashy, tag appropriately. Also should not expect a gorefic to be allowed in every group. I guess a non fanfic analogy would be not to expect to find Penthouse Magazine in the childrens lit section of Barnes and Noble.

Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking.
