Anyone into Mountain biking, road biking or cycling in general?

So, when I was in school I was never into sports (I don't like competing with people, I hate losing to the point that wining is not fun, I just see it as not losing). I was a bit overweight and had like no muscle. I also have ADD and it is very had for me to focus and stuff that I am not into. So I a bike in high school that I did not use to much but did use for shot trips around town. I graduated in 03 and stop riding after I got a car in 02. I started going to the gym in 06 or 07? and found that I like the way I felt after I got some exorcise. I could focus more and was more relaxed since I did not have a lot of pent up energy (if you have ever seen a dog that is running around the house being a pest and this is good after they get to run around the back yard, that is me). so in 08 I got mountain bike (a specialized rockhopper) it I really like offroad biking a lot! I wanted to go faster and for longer so I started working out more and eating better (no more soda and french fries). the more I improved my fitness and the better I ate, the better I felt and the more fun I had on the bike, and the more fun I had on the bike the more I wanted to improve my fitness. In 2010 I got a hi end MTB bike (a specialized stumpjumper FSR 26") 2011 I got a road bike to help train and I did my fist 100 mile ride, and now I am training to do an Ironman triathlon (that is a race that you swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run 26.2 miles all in a row, the timer start when you get in the water and stops when you finish the run). also  I have made a lot of friends helping out with the local Mountain bike club fixing and building new trails. So Mountain biking has really changed my life and made me into who I am today. anyone else have a love for cycling?

yes, i am deeply into road cycling and this summer i did my first 50KM cycling event and it showed how much i have improved as i can ride 65+ KM without breaking a sweat

Nice! I can't even ride one KM with out braking a sweat! I sweat a lot, on a 160KM ride I drink around 5-6L of water with out having to go to the bath room!

I... never got past the training wheels. xD

Its never to late to learn ;-) there is no age limit on have fun on a bike.

I am currently doing 20-40 miles a day biking.  I don't got the money for super fancy bikes. I have my beloved Trek which I bought in my Sophomore year of HS and have had it for over 7 years now.  I got it because I'd have to replace my cheap bikes every season because I'd just wear them out and it was cheaper to replace them than to maintenance them. I get about 1200-2000 miles a year on the bike (I bike year 'round). I do my own bike repairs and also have enough knowledge to repair the neighbourhood kids' bikes.

I've never done a bike race, or endurance race (although I believe I'd be very good at it), nor do I do much off road biking. I should join in some races...maybe get an actual road bike.  I bike about 10 miles a day just to get and from work, but ever since I was little, I've biked just for the love of it. I remember biking as a kid with a cassette player listening to N*SYNC (I was 8-10 and silly  ). Whenever I'm stressed, I bike. Whenever I am bored, I bike, Whenever I bike, I don't want to stop. It's a serious problem sometimes ^_^

Actually, something i've taken up just last week on a random thoughtless whim is unicycling. I've only practised maybe 10 hours total and am making good progress. I have no idea why I decided to do it, but I ordered a decent Unicycle off Amazon, got it last week and practise at least a half hour- an hour a day.

I know people here are talking about sweating...I don't know, I sweat like a man regardless :eww:  but I never get tired. If I'm battling 30mph winds, my speed does go down to about 10mph and sometimes I take a short break because my legs start to cramp, but after a quick stretch I'm back on the gravel roads. If I'm on gravel, I normally go between 15-20 mph, and on a flat paved road, I can get up to 30mph no problem (I'm like a cheetah :P ) I once got a speeding ticket for going 42mph in a residential 15mph. I actually am proud of that, and the ticket is framed. I was a stupid, ignorant high schooler back then but even the cop complimented me.

I am...because of my dad. He's a cyclist, but hasn't rode in a while. Back when I was young, he used to do local rides. He rode Mt. Mitchell during this time. I have a hybrid bike with no shocks. Hope to upgrade sometime soon.

I'm not a hardcore biker like you appear to be , but I casually ride around the neighborhood just for fun, though I'd like to ride around other places too since it gets boring here sometimes after seeing the same paths over and over >_>.

There are some trails near where I live that I can bike at; it's really pretty to go through the forest and along the river. It's more convenient to just bike around my neighborhood though.

However, my bike has a flat tire at the moment and I've been too lazy to get it fixed -_-

I cycle. 1,508 miles and counting over 20 days on the road, plus 'down days' where I'm just touring and not trying to reach anywhere in particular. I flew from Japan to the United Kingdom specifically to ride from the southwestern most point of England (Land's End) to the most northeastern of Scotland (John o' Groats), often called End to End or Coast to Coast. It took me two weeks with no prior training or long distance experience, which is the average time. I ferried to Belfast in Northern Ireland after doing some repairs on my bicycle (a 3 year old Trek T30 Navigator) and have been riding around the coast ever since.

I recently changed my plans; instead of riding entirely around Ireland I'm instead going to stop at the halfway point here in County Kerry to tour the Dingle Peninsula and cycle the 114 mile long Ring of Kerry. Both are things I really wanted to do in Ireland but I found myself out of time, needing soon to be back in London so I can fly to Crystal Fair Con and return to mainland Europe for my 2nd three month backpacking tour there. I could still make it back to Belfast, but it would mean skipping some of the most scenic parts of the island.

I carry a full kit, loaded in dual panniers (saddlebags) and a tent. It's quite a different experience cycling with a ton of weight, but it feels all more rewarding doing it entirely under one's own power. A tiny taste of the journey -

(I removed the other pannier so the bike would stay up in the sand)

I keep a log on my profile.

I love bike riding! I bike to work almost every day, assuming it's nice out. I would love to go out on a cross-country tour sometime.

Hey everyone, if anyone uses a App called Strava to record and view their cycling rides there seems to be a glitch  in the android version that gives a completely inacurate reading even when connected to another device.  the settings that cause the glitch are boxed in red.

s6AzvFR.png

Here is a example of one of its false readings

FVNMdZs.png

the actual ride was 35.9 KM and my real speed was 21.9 KM/H with a top of 45KM/H, on the map of the ride it also screwed the position up and said I rode on the river

That sucks. I use garmin (an edge 500, and the app on my android phone) I don't like the idea of competing with other people so I stay as far away from Strava as I can.
