Want to Create a Local Brony Meetup, What should I do?

Lately I've been feeling rather lonely, the forums have helped but I was thinking of going to a brony meetup. Sadly there are none nearby so I thought of making one. That's where I need your help because personally I have no idea where to start, how do  get the word out, what activities (if any) should be planned, I need a bit of advice here guys.

I personally don't know myself, but posters would be one way to get the word out. If you can't make one, I'll be getting my computer back soon, and when I do, I'd be happy to design one for you, if you do decide to use posters.

I would say start by creating a facebook group for bronies in your area. Invite your local brony friends to join the group if you have any. Make the page public, include keywords that will cause your page to pop up in various searches for bronies in your area. For meetups, create event pages attached to the group and follow a few simple rules.

 

• Always meet in a very very public area. This is probably obvious, but I'll say it anyway just in case.
• Make it clear that everyone is welcome (though maybe imply like a proper age range) and that behavior to the contrary is strictly not tolerated. Set rules ahead of time so that everyone feels safe and comfortable.
• Choose an activity that appeals to a wide range of people. I know of a group that's doing a picnic event, which is great because it's low-cost, doesn't involve being 'good' at something, and allows people to wander and socialize freely. Beach days are also good, if you're near a beach of some sort.
