Gliese 581c /ˈɡliːzə/ (Gl 581c or GJ 581c) is a planet orbiting within the Gliese 581 system. It is the second planet discovered in the system and the third in order from the star. With a mass at least 5.5 times that of the Earth, it is classified as a super-Earth (a category of planets with masses greater than Earth's up to ten Earth masses).

Gliese 581c gained interest from astronomers because it was reported to be the first potentially Earth-like planet in the habitable zone of its star, with a temperature right for liquid water on its surface, and, by extension, potentially capable of supporting extremophile forms of Earth-like life. However, further research casts doubt upon the planet's habitability. It is tidally locked (always presents the same face to the object it is orbiting) so if life had a chance to emerge, the best hope of survival would be in the "terminator zone".

In astronomical terms, the Gliese 581 system is relatively close to Earth, at 20.37 light-years (193 trillion kilometres; 120 trillion miles) in the direction of the constellation of Libra. This distance, along with the declination and right ascension coordinates, give its exact location in the Milky Way.

I do believe that the more interesting planet to be discussed is V391 Pegasi B with it being a "Hot Jupiter" gas giant that has been engulfed by it's parent star with it surviving being engulfed during the star's red giant phase. Even though the planet itself is 1.7 times further from the star than Earth is to the Sun.

Perhaps if this planet had moons before it's parent star engulfed the planet, then maybe life could've survived on the rocky surface given the similar statuses of an early V391 Pegasi with our current Sun. Surely the habitable zone of Pegasi has lengthened further outward due to it being a white dwarf, but it will slowly shrink back as time goes on and it dwindles back to a black dwarf. Eventually burning all it's fuel and losing mass before it fades out of existence with all it's resources drained and it's planets flung out of orbit becoming lost into an everlasting void of space.

I disagree, a good challenge is required since @FortyTwo42 long abdicated his throne as well as his courtiers. Thus forth there has been multiple dethrones to the point that it's delved into the 3rd and 4th pages. I for one welcome the challenge once more. Nearly 4 thousand numbers have been taken by yours truly, and I intend to continue.
