"Are you alright?" Bliss asked the sudden weakened unicorn as she held him up slightly from his wobblying, "did Chase hurt you? Gah this is all my fault... I had no idea he'd show up here...Have I known... I would have avoided the Galla all together... He and I-" Her large ears dropped down again, "we have a history...that he refuses to let go. It's revenge against me he wants... I only fear that by you intervening that he'll want to seek revenge on you as well... Chase Razor... He's... he's one of those, that never likes to lose to anypony."

She turned then to the firm, monotone stallion who introduced himself as Silver Tongue, and wondered what his motives were for being at th Galla, but not sure how to persent herself to him other then to apoloize to him as well.

"Unless you have a way to magically recharge me, then no. Anyways even if you did recharge me, that's alicorn magic, although it would probably make some awesome illusions. Anyways, I'll be fine, if I hadn't used so many tricks to get him I wouldn't be in this position."

"Which was my fault..." she sighed and let go of him, sitting down feeling guilty. "I'm sorry...I don't really know any rejuvination spell or recharge spell... Heh I can barely teleport and levitate objects...Alot of ponies seem to think cause I'm an alicorn I must be able to do all these amazing magic tricks. Truth is I was a pegasus before I became an alicorn and I only know what I know from a friend of mine...and accident practices." She pawed the ground blushing.

 Silver Tongue saw the bow, and was taken bake that a princess was bowing to Him. Taken off guard, Silver shakily responded "It's fine. Like I've always said, if you have already tried it with someone, you are being too predictable. I never gave a joke book to someone so I guess you could say I was just following the rules.".

 

 Silver Tongue continued much more calmly "In all seriousness, that joke book was to get you in the right mindset. The Grand Galloping Gala is a time of joy, and I didn't have anything else on me to represent that." Silver finished in a light hearted tone "Besides, I was tired of carrying that book around. Oh, and call me Silver, it's more, elegant.".

 Silver Tongue turned his attention back to Mirror Image "Anyway, I was trying to get your attention to ask you where, or whom you learned to use magic like that from. If you don't mind telling an amitur magition where he can lern to be more of a challenge, that is." Silver Tongue said as if daring him to refuse.

She lowered her head as the two spoke, wondering if she could contribute in anyway, when her large ears perked up a bit. She quickly levitated her crown back onto her head and smiled to Mirrors. "I know how your magic abilities would benefit me in the long run!" She smiled happily, "Like if I ever get ambushed like earlier by Chase Razor. A good illusion to make a double of myself to distract him would be nice. Obviously he wasn't expecting that from you, what are the odds of him getting it from me?"

 

She stood up and pawed the ground eagerly, "Chase doesn't think I know any useful magic. Far as he's concerned I'm just a floppied eared pegasus with a horn on her head. He cares not if I'm an alicorn or not...He just sees me as the mare who...." She stopped a moment and sat down again. "The mare who ruined his life..."

"You don't know Chase Razor..." she sighed and sat down, pawing the ground, "he blames me for his rough past... And..." She looked up to Mirrors, "revenge isn't just easily given up...especially when you base your life on it...He won't stop till I face him. And he'll hurt anyone he views that I hold dear. I know you can handle yourself with him though.... He's...he's just a bully." She shrugged a bit.

 

"Maybe we can find another unicorn, or another Princess who might help to recharge your own abilities?"

"Trust me on one thing, if you have nothing, you don't have time for revenge, second a recharge might be useful, but I ain't asking any if these snob nosed unicorns and it doesn't feel right to ask a princess to do it, after all, I am just a stage pony from ponyville."

She nodded respectfully and put it to rest.

 

"I understand," she got up and shook the grass and dirt from her flanks. "Well at least we can all try to fix our evening up. Maybe get a little bite to eat and mingle like we were earlier?"

Chase Razor watched from a distance as Bliss and her new party of friends were chatting like fillies in a school yard. He snorted as he levitated a wine glass off a butler's tray, sipped it in one gulp, then flung it up in the air for some poor earth pony to catch.

 

"Look at her..." he spoke up, feeling tipsy from his drink, "think she's got it all doesn't she...Well not for long...I'll make her squirm...and rule the day she tried to take my status from me..." He snorted once again and took another wine glass and walked back towards a crowd of snobbed unicorn ponies. Thinking he might get lucky to find a wouldbe mare to lick his pride some...

 Belle happen to reach the ball room just in time to catch the wine glass and out it on a table. Belle was glaring at Chase Razor  for almost hurting one of her friends. She felt hate for him. After just watching and doing nothing she felt like she should make up for it by teaching the arrogant unicorn a little lesson. Since Belles father was a reptile wrangler she learned how to catch and handle dangerous animals.  She also learned how to bait them as well.  So she touched up her make up to make her eyes more alluring and fixed her hat veil and wrap. Then she walked over to the pompous stallion to set ups a trap for him with her as the bate.

Razor sniffed the air, catching the faint scent of swamp and forest flower, an alluring smell mixed with mare. Then as if by que, he spotted the source of the smell. A pretty earth pony seeming to be eyeing him up and down, in an almost 'come get me stud' kind of way. He noticed her face was well hidden with drapes and scarfs, to what purpose he was unsure of other then for her her own fashion sense.

 

Seeing an opprotunity that the mare was merely flirting with him, and looked to be the thick headed type, he grinned and finished his drink, levitating back to the table. He then confidently stocked towards her, eyeing her green exterior and garments with greedy intent.

 

"Well, well, well..." He stopped her from walking any further, blocking her path with his front hooves, "I knew they were letting in any pony who could afford a ticket...but was unaware they'd let in swamp trash mares as pretty as you are..." His compliment was both intentionally insulting as well as a false comment, "what's your name little filly? Hope you don't have some mud slug stallion trailling your flanks. If you are... I may have to kick him out so you can at least walk around this gala with a proper stallion..." He grinned at her, giving her a playful wink.

Looking at Bliss, he speaks. "Yes, but before we do, I may as well explain a few things. First of all, when I referenced dark magic, I wasn't joking about it, limited as my knowledge is, it exists. Second, the whole staying hidden untim I shove that knife under that stallions throat, that knowledge came from me being an ex thief. I was a master thief, nothing I couldn't steal, even if you had it in your levitation or mouth, I had been able to do it. I don't want any sort of friendship built on a lie, but if you would rather me leave, I can understand."

She smiled to him respectfully, "I was only suggesting we find a way to salvage our evening. I'm sorry you can no longer perform your gifts in a show. But surely there are other things you can do here at the gala. Like enjoy the gardens, or visit the buffet... maybe even dance with some lucky mare?" She giggled.

(I was going with the guilty but honest character. Basically him not wanting his new friends finding his past and he didn't say anything. An he never wanted her to leave, he was thinking bliss would want him to leave.)

 

"Well, I do plan to enjoy the evening, but I do have to avoid the princesses, especially Luna, she makes me nervous, especially since the whole she tends to yell all the time,l." He laughs nervously, "and as for going back to enjoying the party, I would gladly."

'Snap out of it Elo', she kept thinking, shaking her head a bit and trying to push down her emotions. 'You have a job to do. You have to keep talking to ponies for the article. So what if you couldn't do anything to defend the princess? Some ponies just aren't fighters, they're just... scared... and defenseless... and... useless...' She felt fortunate that the other ponies were so caught up in their own conversations, no one seemed to be looking at her. She could feel tears forming at the back of her eyes; sad, weak, pathetic little filly tears that she wouldn't even be able to blink back for one of the most important nights of her career. When Mirror, Lightning, and Silver walked away from her, she decided not to follow them. They were probably bored with her anyways. Instead she decided to take a break from her work, just cry out whatever was lurking behind her eyes so she could move on and do her damn job. She sulked into the Canterlot gardens, walking into an area full of thick shrubs where she could hide for a minute, and laid down in the grass, letting her mane cover her face, hoping nopony would stumble across her here. This was already embarrassingly pathetic, having a witness would just make it worse.

Looking back towards where Eloquence was, he ntices her walking towards the gardens. "Guys, Ill be back." Running as fast as he can, which admittedly is barely more than an average walking pace. "Hey Eloquence, where are you going? Are you ok? Did he hurt you or something? To me your a friend, so please talk to me?"

Bliss stopped and waited for Mirrors to go after Eloquence. In all the excitment and fear she hadn't noticed the green unicorn writer had completely hidden herself from the action... Poor thing...she must of been too scared to know what to do... Gosh...How am I supposed to make it up to her? She thought it over for a moment or two, then smiled realizing the answer was right there in front of her.

 

She quickly galloped after Mirrors, following Eloquence and waited for him to finish, then added in.

 

"I'm so sorry for all the trouble tonight Eloquence... and I've thought of a great way to make it up to you? That is if you want me to." She smiled to the writer hopingly.

Eloquence looked up at the two ponies, realizing that she hadn't been nearly as stealthy as she'd thought. She had to come up with something, and fast. Luckily she was very good at this sort of thing.

 

She pushed herself to her feet slowly, keeping her head down and her eyes partially closed, performing the double-duty of hiding her teary eyes and making her act more convincing. "Oh, goodness, no. I'm terribly sorry to have worried you both, I'm perfectly fine. I'm just very light-sensitive, and all those flashes from you and Chase, what with it being so dark out, I ended up with a bit of a headache and upset stomach is all. I just needed to steal away to somewhere dark and quiet so it will pass more quickly." She held her head as she spoke and mustered a weak smile, once again using her body's natural inclinations to her advantage. "I'll just be a few more seconds here, I'm sure. These things usually pass rather quickly once the offending stimuli is removed."

"I understand," Bliss nodded respectfully and turend away to give the mare her privacy. "Well, whenever your ready... come and find me. I will be happy to share the story about my cutiemark. It will also help to explain all this madness that happened with that other stallion Chase Razor." She nodded then to Mirrors, and trotted back towards the ballroom.

"Eloquence, please if you're lying, just stop. I told you the truth, and I didn't even know you. Now you have two ponies here who are worried about you, so please, just please don't lie to me." He stands his ground, wobbling still, but he will not collapse again, not until he fonds out what is happening to his friend. (He isnt psychic, he just kniws what it's line to be weak and pathetic, that and he alwas did the same thing to avoid hurting others.)
