ooc Pirate RP (The Buckanneers) NO LONGER ACCEPTING

It's the late 1600's in Equestria, pirates roam freely in the south-west of the country.

Many great names that shall be remembered trough history exist, will yours be one of them?

RP THREAD http://mlpforums.com/topic/106377-pirate-rp-the-buckanneers/

You've recently got yourself a ship, painted your flag black, gathered a crew and started calling yourself Captain. This all being very nice, the real question is: how long will you be able to survive these deafly waters? Will you make allies with fellow pirates or will you become their enemy? Of course, the Royal Princess Fleet has gotten active with the trading in the south, and the North-West Trading Company has gotten quite busy down there too. This gives you a lot of opportunity to plunder ships and steal their goods, or you could find maps and go treasure hunting. The choice is as freely as a pirate is.

RULES:

  • No Godmodding, you only control your own character, ship and crew.
  • Death is allowed, after all we're talking pirates here.
  • Female captains are allowed, but given it's late 1600's frown upon. Often female pirates pretended they were men to be accepted.
  • Have fun. Yes, it's a rule
  • The town of Loudwater is a safe haven, this also is the docking place of your ship. The tavern in this town is your starting point in the RP.
  • Swearing is allowed, but keep it down a bit.
  • Captians must be pony.
  • No alicorns.

Everyone gets a Brig class ship to keep things fair, not that a schooner and a galleon fight, that would be most unfair, although NPC ships have the ranks of: (from low to high) Schooner, Brig, Frigate, Galleon. Of course a Galleon pays off much better than an Schooner, but 50 something cannons may turn you down.

Please, specify your ship as following.

Broadside cannons: (This can be any number between 7 and 21. A ship with less cannons can go faster.)

Figurehead: (The shape of what your figurehead is)

Name: (Name of your ship)

Also please leave a link to the pony who wants to become a captain.

Here's my setup.

Broadside cannons: 21

Figurehead: A golden unicorn mare with a fish tail instead of hindlegs

Name: Golden Unicorn

My captain would be Captain Thunder Farts.

If i have forgotten anything above or if you have any questions or ideas please do tell.

I may be interested. I'll have to make a few new OCs to fit within this RP. I've been hoping for a pirate based RP to hop into for awhile, just haven't gotten around to it.

I'm pretty sure it's not an option, but might as well ask. Draconequus OC's are more than likely not allowed, would this be true?

If they are not, I'll draw up a Captain, Crew, and Ship and possibly join in though it might take longer to get it sorted out.

Indeed i think it would be best for the captains to be Earth pony, Unicorn or Pegasus. But shit, if you drew that, you draw good man.

I would like to throw in my character Amber as a captain. She is an airship courier in her backstory, however I can alter her a bit to be a merchant-turned-pirate. She will usually pass for a stallion when docking or dealing with unfamiliar ponies.

Broadside cannons: 8

Figurehead: none

Name: La Soubrette

Since it has so few cannons I have to ask if the Soubrette can be a clipper or caravel rather than the standard brig to make up for lack of firepower with speed and maneuverability, if not then I will up the gun count to 12.

This sounds fun. I'll use my OC Blixer as a captain.

For the purpose of this RP, his backstory is he is a former Royal Princess Fleet captain turned pirate.

Broadside Cannons: 14

Figurehead: The snarling head of a cheetah.

Name: Arcane Raider

Could you please provide a link to the captain and provide the ship's information?

Thank you.

To specify my ship some more; the Soubrette is a three masted 60' (roughly 19 meters) caravel rig with four broadside cannons on each side. Its small size and shallow keel allows it move quickly upriver and in coastal waters that larger ships cannot access, however it can carry little cargo and is at more risk in open ocean making it a better choice for island hopping rather than long trips far from land. Lateen sails give it good maneuverability and enable it to travel almost dead windward at a good clip at the cost of a reduced sheet size. Its optimal crew size consists of 10 to 15 ponies but it can make with less in a bind. Due to its weaker hull and small firepower it is almost useless in a one-on-one with a larger ship, however its speed and mobility makes it an ace if combined with a strategic captain.

I'm assuming the crew will be played by the person who's ship they work on correct?

This indeed is correct. I first thought of havjng one captain and have the rest work ad crew, but i thought this'd be more fun.

No offense, but the last two ships have some very powerful weapons. Triple cannons? Mortars? If these get accepted I am changing my ship

This one seems just fine. You're in!

@@dusk shade@@Gloomfury,

I'm sorry, but have i said anything about triple cannons or mortars. I must say i have never heard of triple cannons, but mortars were quite common, i know. Still, i said nothing about Mortars because i think they'd give an unfair advantage over a ship who doesn't have them. This too goes for chase cannons and triple cannons (I guess they're triple barrel)
