Rant: Why are some Bronies DEFENDING Anti-Bronies?

Since when does it being a matter of their personal opinion mean anything at all? Are you basically saying it's alright for them to hate a group of people for being different and liking what they don't?

I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but nothing wears on my nerves quicker than the "it's an opinion" argument in any context.

Yes, it's an opinion. That does NOT make it correct in any sense of the word  Hell, man, some of my opinions are wrong, too, I'm sure of it.

The word "opinion" doesn't mean anything in a serious argument unless you're giving your reasoning behind it, and really, having an opinion to hate and harass people for what they like isn't an opinion, it's just being a dick, first off, and secondly, just because they feel that way doesn't mean anything in terms of accepting that behavior.

Of course they feel that way. Of course that's their opinion. I mean, really? It's obvious that's the case - anyone with eyes can see that. But what grants them any kind of immunity for having people not like their opinions? That's what debate is, and when someone throws out the "it's just an opinion" argument, that's almost like waving the white flag.

In short, just because it's their opinion doesn't make any difference. What matters is what makes that opinion acceptable - and I'm not going to go clubbing everyone over the head and make them think what I want them to think, but damn, I really find fault in accepting people's harassment and the fact they cause harm to others "just because it's their opinion."

Didn't I pretty explicitly go on to say that I can't defend it when it reaches the point of hatred? I'm pretty sure I said something like that.

Yeahh, but even still you threw out that opinion argument at the part I quoted, so I thought you should be quoted as well.

Just because it's an opinion doesn't make it right, regardless of how you far you're willing to let it go before you stop defending it.

Have you tried a vacation to Africa? (I'm running out of cheesy 80's songs xD)

There's a difference between being a hater and being a dick. I will agree with you that there is a line.

I mean, if a group is out right harassing another, then a line has been crossed, but if they haven't crossed that line, then let em hate. *Shrugs.*

Anti-Brony:

You're a faggot.

Brony1:

Dude, stop being a dick.

Brony2:

Brony1, it's his "opinion" that you're a dick.

Me: Bull crap.

I s'pose my meaning may have been unclear. I do that a lot.

When I was talking about how it's their opinion, I was referring to the general distaste for the show and thinking that the fandom is weird. Mild anti-bronyhood, I suppose. If people think the show is stupid, that's fine. If they think the brony fandom is a bunch of nonsense, oh well. Long as people aren't actively attacking bronies, and they don't treat bronies worse for being bronies, I've no right to tell them they're wrong for disliking the show or finding the fandom weird. That's what I meant.

Sure.

But do you expect me to ignore them and not criticize them for their words?

Why should I anyways?

I can't define why one person should ignore them. I can only do that for myself.

In the end, I ignore these people because they are nothing more than a waste of my free time. I'll use that time doing other things I find enjoyable and more benefitting to myself.

You want my answer to your question OP? I don't hate any group regardless of whether they hate me. I look at people as individuals and not a collective. I consider myself average at best in everything from intellect to artistic talent. The only thing I can say I excel at is NOT putting a person into a faceless identity like a 'them'.

I defend them because I'm the good guy.

That's the thing though.

It's impossible to justify hatred towards an entire group of diverse people.

I guess another point I failed to make in my first comment is that I don't defend the actions of anti-bronies, but I can still defend them as human beings. It's not like being an anti-brony is some kind of irredeemable stain on someone's soul; it's just a distaste some folk have for bronies. And since bronydom isn't some True and Ultimate Good, its antithesis can scarcely be Really and Truly Bad.

So will I defend actions that people take against bronies? Nope. But will I defend the people who take those actions, merely for being people? Will I wish good on them, and that their lives and their hearts will take a turn for the better? Absolutely.

Defense and justification are not the same thing. I don't just see a homeless man, I see a person with decades of life. A point of hope turned away for various reasons. I don't see an alcoholic. I see a human complete with experiences and life decisions that brought them to that point.

Where you see a them ... I see a he.

Imagine people complexly

Well ok.

Wishing good upon the person and hoping that individual stops their unjust hatred is actually better way of put it.

Well ok.

I see your point.

But it's not like I want them to stay an antibrony.

I can still wish for them to stop their hatred.

Maybe by giving them a hug? lol.

I feel like we need a review on COMMON SENSE.

I have noticed some bronies have been defending Anti-Bronies.

The bronies that do this usually put down their own fandom and say "Well they probably have a good reason for hating the show."

First of all, you can hate MLP and NOT be an anti-brony.

If I hate Africa am I racist against black people from Africa?

No!

Anti-Bronies HATE BRONIES.

Not the JUST show.

The fans who love and watch the show.

And I'm not just talking one or two Bronies.

They HATE EVERYONE who is a Brony.

They are the ones who go around in the YouTube comments calling Bronies faggots, pedophiles, and much much worse.

Some of you might be thinking, "Well that's your definition an Anti-Brony."

Really?

This is the definition of an Anti-Brony according the urban dictionary:

"Anti bronies will specifically go out of their way to spew whatever they can against bronies to the point of making their own anti brony Facebook pages, YouTube channels, (I shit you not) anti brony Call of Duty threads, and whatever they can get their grubby little hands on.

They are typically found in the ages between 10-30 (mostly 13, go figure) and, like some bronies, are the most annoying things you can find on the Internet.

Not only will they spam anything pony-related, but they make their own (albeit shitty) anti brony rap songs, anti brony Minecraft servers, even break the fucking law to deface pony murals, and so on.

Anything that a brony might do that annoys you, anti bronies have sure covered it, except it's a thousand times more annoying because, well, at least bronies enjoy themselves when they do pony-stuff, they don't watch My Little Pony to write bios with (LITERALLY) over 9,000 characters in text why the show sucks."

Sure we have our bad folks in the fandom, but is that we're all about?

Of course not.

Anti-Bronies are a hate and you CANNOT defend the actions of a hate group.

Seems like you need to watch more ponies, because this "Love and Tolerate" thing doesn't seem to sink in with you.

Yeah, I do have to modify one thing. I hate bullying in general. I also don't really get annoyed all the time when Bronies cast back anger at them. I get it. In a sense it is a collective fight against the concept of intolerance and it's personal because they are attacking something that many of us hold dear to our hearts. I just try and look at the haters as individuals who will hopefully grow out of the hate.
