Am I the only one who hates Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon?

I don't like them. Their position, story wise, early on was simple enough; antagonise the CMC. Which was fine (again, storywise) at first, but they've continued to do it and haven't really learnt any lessons. Their treatment of the CMC at this point has just become even more unfair and quite tiresome. I think moving into season 5 it would be good to either see them get their comeuppance or actually learn a lesson about friendship and try to reform a little, try to grow up a bit.

 

 

I do like their "bump bump, sugar lump, rump" though.

Er, I think most people dislike them.

Personally, I love Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. In fact, I feel significantly worse for Silver Spoon than I do for Babs. Silver is pretty much every kid that ever tried to fit in with the popular crowd; in fact, I'm guessing she had a very similar experience to what Babs did and ended up sticking with Diamond Tiara, hence her reliance on her.

I don't think their personal histories have been expounded upon greatly enough for people to have any real understanding of them, but I don't think either of them had a particularly happy childhood, and have written several theories about them as well as an upcoming fanfiction.

I hope that in the future we see more of them.

I don't think it's fair to say you hate them and that you like Babs considering Babs was equally bad. The only reason Babs changed was because the CMC totally rekd her, LOL.

Even if Granny is my favourite pone next to Mayor Mare, there was (again, in my mind) a reason they weren't nice to her, that leading (again) back to jealousy of strong familial times that Diamond and Silver clearly lack with their own based on their interactions with any family of theirs we've seen.

 

Don't hate a character until you try to at least fully understand any situation that may occur, even if it isn't canon.

 

OK, I probably don't hate SS as much as DT, and probably SS acts like Babs just to stay together with DT, but Babs at least knew how to react, maybe because SS doesn't have an "Applejack" who can tell her closest ponies that she was a victim of some kind of abuse? Probably!

 

I don't deny that they may live in a very toxic enviroment that makes them act like that, however breaking three innocent ponies' lives for just not having a cutie mark isn't justifiable, thankfully they three are strong enough not to let it break them for life.

I don't like Diamond Tiara but I do like Silver Spoon.

 

I see Silver Spoon as just a follower of Diamond Tiara. 

 

This is my head canon: Silver Spoon didn't have a ton of friends, so Diamond Tiara made her a friend of her's. So, Silver feels like the only way she can have a friend is if she follows DT.

 

But I could be terribly wrong.

I dislike Silver Spoon more. Mainly because it's one thing to be the one who's doing the bullying, but to stand by their side and go along with it is another thing. I think the only reason the Silver Spoon hangs around with Tiara is because she doesn't want to be bullied. So she allied herself with Ponyville's biggest bully as a means of protection. That's pretty low if you ask me.

I actually have a sneaking regard for Diamond Tiara. Not that I condone her actions and her bullying of the CMC in the slightest, but there are other hints to something more for her. She obviously loves her daddy very much.

 

Hell, I find that freaking adorable...

 

She's shown that she can be an effective leader. Granted, she mostly leads through pushing others around, but with a forceful personality like that, if she could manage to be charismatic instead, she could be a pony who will go far in life. She is willing to give praise to others in some cases: she was genuinely impressed with the idea for Gabby Gums (even if she did ruin it later by blackmailing the CMC into continuing) She also praised Pinkie for her cuteceneara, when she really had no reason to do so.

 

There was also a scene in One Bad Apple where Babs threatened to tell their mothers, specifically, about their bullying, and both DT and SS looked positively terrified at the thought:

 

I suspect there might be something going on at home, possibly a very harsh mother. DT may be acting out because she feels bullied by her mother (her father seems decent enough, though). Does it excuse her actions? No, not really, but if it's true, it makes her a little more understandable, and therefore relate-able.

 

Silver Spoon, though, she's just a camp follower. She's DT's bitch, and I find less to like in that kind of person.

 

To answer the original question, though, there are many more fans who put DT at the top of their worst pony lists. Fans like me are in the minority.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind exploring them a bit. Thing is, I don't expect an episode like that anytime soon, after all, the show seems to have a long way to go and thus, the CMC NEED their rich bitches on their rumps

I dislike the archetypal characters they've been made out to be, but I like them as characters with possible potential to outgrow the frankly stupid niche they've been shoved into for the plot's sake.  They're kind of like the underdogs of the show, if you think about it.  It's unlikely they'll ever get worthwhile development, but I can't help but wish for that in every episode they appear in.  I like them both.

Oh, I quite like Diamond Tiara. She's very pretty, and I love her relationship with her father, as well as the fandom's take on her. She's a terrible pony based only upon her dialogue in the show, but analyzing her intentions and reasonings makes her far more interesting, and even likable.

Please! Liking Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon!? No way will I respect those little, punk bastards!   They obviously bully the CMC through probably 50-75% of the episodes involving the CMC. Diamond's the worst though. She made Applebloom, Sweetie Bell, and Scootaloo gossip to their relatives, friends, and citizens of Ponyville! Though, like what some people in this thread are saying, maybe the duo had a difficult past. That I'd wanna see, so that maybe I can understand their reasonings for their actions.
