"I could say, but I think it's easier to just show."

 

Last took her right hoof up over her closed eye with the scar going over so she could shield it from the worst light when time came and slowly opened up.

 

You could see from the expression on her face that it hurt to get in contact with whatever light was in here currently, but she just clenched her teeth hard and muscled over it, eventually revealing a narrow eye not different in form to what she already had, but the colouring was paler, and the iris had a slightly pinkish red overtone mixed in with the otherwise icy-blue eye.

 

It didn't last more than a few seconds before she had to close her eye again, and finally stopped clenching her teeth hard enough to make one wonder why they hadn't cracked yet, although she didn't say something right away, instead opting for another bite of the half-eaten muffin in front of her first.

 

"Light sensitive, makes it hurt to use when the sun's out, but you'd be surprised what i can see in the dark."

Ziggy placed a hoof on each side of her face and looked at Storm with a big, open mouth smile that oozed excitement.

 

"Ohmygosh that's so romantic! Proposing to your very special somepony with rings you made yourself is just... It's so... Aaawh."

 

She went over and gave him a big hug, lifting him from his seat with ease while she was at it.

 

"She's not gonna be able to resist. Congratulations. Oooh, I bet she and you and your little colt and she (or did I say that already?) is gonna be so happy together."

 

She wasn't done squeezing him just yet, but he should be able to wriggle out of her grip if he wanted to.

"I was not aware, no, but I have run into a Breezie once before. I sort of misunderstood him for a butterfly and... Well, let us say that it did not start off on the best of terms when I accidentally tried to eat him. Thankfully he made some noise before it was too late.

 

I must admit, it was an interesting day after he was done scolding me for not being more careful, but I can't say that I was not relieved when he left with the few that had joined up during the day. They can be... Trying on your patience."

 

Vile tricksters was a thought more in line with things in his head, but considering how he wasn't sure that this wasn't just them retaliating for almost making a snack out of their brother, he couldn't say if that was a general thing they did or if he had deserved their irk enough to justify this. Frankly he would say that he did deserve it, but still, that might be a matter of opinion depending on a few factors.

"Cool!" Pinkie exclaimed, "I'm sure Twilight or Stormy would have more to say, probably something really smarty-smart... But cool!" She said happily.

Storm allowed Ziggy to hug him, knowing how the need to hug somepony felt. Especially since he ends up huggling many ponies, often completely randomly.... But when she pulled him up into a hug, his goggles fell from his head and bounced under the table. "Yeppers, that's the plan!" Storm told Ziggy with a smile and even hugging back, though he kept his eyes closed. He decided to wait out the hug, always best to let a hug-happy pony finish their hugs in his opinion.

Then he could try and retrieve his goggles. Even with Pinkie and some of their closest friends accepting his eyes, he was still slightly self-conscious about them. He wouldn't mind showing Ziggy and Zecora (Especially Zecora, because he's known her longer, and she's gone through discrimination by looks so it would be highly unlikely for her to discriminate such a thing herself.) due to their very accepting nature to this point, but the amount of ponies thrown off by such a small difference still left him slightly hesitant.

 

((OOC: Interesting point here... During the Zecora episode, Storm had been contemplating telling the Mane Six and a few of his other friends about his eyes. But due to the fear and discrimination shown by everypony towards Zecora even after he had attempted to prove that she was nice, he became very nervous about it. Pinkie never even found out until the confession. (which was accidental in the first place as his goggles where knocked off when he ran away in a sudden bout of nervousness and self-doubt due to accidentally blurting his feelings to Pinkie. ) ))

"Perhaps so Pinkie."

 

Usual response she got from this where she was from was either that she was weird, or laughter. Both ended with the other one on the ground with a blade close to their leg and her looking down on them with an icy glare as a warning that she did not enjoy being messed with, and while Pinkie did have a certain cheer over her as well she was just naturally happy it seemed, and she didn't see anything resembling mocking or the like in her tone, face or anything else for that matter. It was a refreshing change to be honest, but still, the pain of having light hammered into that eye made her question if it had been worth that.

 

She was used to some degree of pain, and she wasn't gonna get wimpy over a little damage, but there were limits to her pain tolerance, and a few seconds more of exposure and that limit would have shattered she'd reckon. Would be a while again until she was going to do that unless it was night.

 

Figuring that she had been speaking up things for a while herself she didn't bring up anything new right away, opting instead to see if either Book or Pinkie had something they wanted to get out with. Wasn't certain, sure, but you never knew.

Ziggy saw how Storm didn't want her to look at his eyes, and though she was admittedly very curious about it, she wasn't gonna poke at it if it was a sensitive thing for him to be shown around. He had mentioned something about it before, but talking about something and showing it was two very different things, and she knew how it was like to want a few secrets for yourself.

 

As such, when she let go of the grip she had in him, she closed her own eyes, and just to prove she wasn't gonna peek also put her hooves in front of her eyes and waited until Storm would be down scrambling around for his goggles before opening up again.

 

"Wiggle, woggle, hunt for a goggle, up and down, all around, bouncy bouncy on the ground."

 

The words from her mouth wasn't so much a rhyme as a small chime that sounded kinda like a playground tune near the skipping ropes. It wasn't carrying any mockery, and she hoped it didn't seem that way, but sometimes she just blurted things out at a spur of the moment without being able to hold it back, and currently... Well, it had settled on a bit of gibberish.

"Speaking of eyes, Stormy's a bit sensitive about showing anypony his eyes, apparently he has a semi-rare eye-thingy called 'Hetero-Chromia' Though I think he looks a lot better without the goggles..." Pinkie told Last with a smile. "He's nervous about leaving his goggles off in public, though I'm working with him on that."

"Interesting rhyme Ziggy..." Storm said, smiling in amusement. He decided to take a small risk since he couldn't see his goggles, he opened his eyes and found that Ziggy had closed hers. Looking around, he still didn't see the goggles anywhere. Storm sighed in a somewhat exasperated way. "Looks like my goggles ran off... You can open your eyes if you want Ziggy, I'm pretty sure I can trust you and Zecora." He chuckled again, "I could use some help finding my goggles though, if you wouldn't mind?" Storm requested, looking at Ziggy. He didn't ask Zecora, since she was over making some more tea.

 "Yeah, I know what you mean. I found it one day when I was walking through a place they call the forbidden forest. It on the border of Prance and Germanegh I think. I don't know, I was mostly wondering around places they are dangerous to go into because they were cursed or haunted or something like that. Anyway I found it in a neat looking cave. When I went though it I saw about a thousand Breezes living their lives. 

 

Why they say me most of them tried to make me go back though the portal. When I asked why they told me they didn't want outsiders in their world. Which was pretty rude. But there were some who didn't mind me there, like their leader. He was bigger then a normal Breeze, and he was pretty chubby two. He also had a long curly beard. He said he wanted to learn a bot more about ponies because he's never been to our world. 

 

So I told him about it and about ponies and myself. He also told me a good bit about Breezes as well. And I tell ya, their food is like, the sweetest thing ever. I meant sweeter then eating a whole bag of sugar. But it was pretty good. Even though I was acting more hyper then normal. I mean I was a bouncing with energy. It last for a couple of days till I crashed when I was back home. I think I slept for about a week. But all and all it was fun."

"Hetero-Chromia... Ain't that the one where you have two different coloured eyes? Could swear I've heard it somewhere before."

 

Not that there were a lot of places she could have heard it all things considered, but still, it rang a bell of sorts. Could it have been one of the other guards? Possible, she never really looked at them that much as she wasn't into the whole *romance angle* as some of them were, but she listened in where she could, and she had heard that phrase before.

 

Oh well, didn't matter where she heard it as much as if she had heard right, cause in case she had, well... It really didn't change anything to be honest. She was just curious, and whatever insecurity issues he had with different eye colours weren't hers to change on on pry into too much, or at least not that directly. She'd see where the talk would go.

"Okie-dokie. Let's try and find your goggles."

 

Ziggy opened her eyes and started to look around. Under table, over tables, under the fire, on the shelves, into the ceiling in general just in case gravity had stopped working, but not really finding anything. Had the goggles fallen into the cauldron perhaps? Was it safe to look.... Tempting... So very, very tempting....

"An old fancied crash and burn it sounds like. Can imagine that being an experience, just not sure if it is a good one or a bad one, but that depends on the crash I suppose  If the week of sleep went by silently, I can imagine it being somewhat refreshing."

 

The closest Briar had gotten to one of these sort of crashing and burning was once when he was eating some very exotic fish that turned out to be filled with a by-product of a nearby potion maker. It had given him ups and down, some good, some bad, and some straight up terrifying.

 

He hadn't stayed in the area for long because of it, but at times he did miss the random up from a lunch that would consist of a pleasurable feeling and being energised, though less pleasurable when the up ended and the ground seemed to drag him down towards it. Had been a weird week.

"Yeppers!" Pinkie replied, nodding her head rapidly. "Stormy's got one green colored eye, and one gold colored eye!" She explained with a bright smile.

"Hmmm... Not under the table, not in the corner, not on a shelf..." Storm hummed as he looked around, his gaze passing over one of Zecora's masks that looked especially bug-eyed and- wait a minute! Storm did a quick double take before laughing. "Found them! I guess one of Zecora's masks wanted to check what it would look like with an extra accessory..." He said, pulling his goggles off of the mask. "Thanks for the help Ziggy!" He chirped, looking at the half-zebra gratefully. "I would've hated to lose these even if I get over the whole 'nervous about showing my eyes in public' thing, since a few very good friends of mine gave them to me...."

"Interesting combo. Sounds weird to me that he's covering 'em up, but eh, likely something between him and you when time comes, although I'd try and get him to loose the headgear before you start wandering up the aisle. Would likely clash with whatever you ponies around here wears at your weddings."

 

She didn't really have a *fashion sense* as much as a *practical sense* when it came down to things, so she wasn't sure what they would go with here. A dress and a tux perhaps? Seemed to be the thing in the town she'd stumbled into before finding Ponyville, though considering where she was from that seemed silly and not that useful.

 

Granted, in her former home they didn't have fancy stuff like that anywhere nearby, and they had to prepare for an attack at any time, so they wore mostly combat gear and weapons to their weddings which might make her biased in the whole *wedding attire* business, but still, seemed a little impractical.

Ziggy looked over from the cauldron when Storm said he had found the goggles.

 

"Oh spiff, you got 'em."

 

She wandered over to the table once more, blissfully unaware of what could have happened if Storm had been a few seconds slower and she had tried to see if the goggles had fallen into the cauldron. Could be nothing, but considering this, it was just as likely that her hoof and leg would start to grow spines or something from feeling around in there. Hard to tell with Zebra potions really, diverse stuff.

 

"You say it's a gift from friends? Can see why they're important then. I wouldn't like to loose a gift from one or more friends either, especially not when it's a practical gift."

Brittle looked up from the ruined music box he had been trying to understand when Mez said her name.

 

She hadn't said anything since Briar and Mez had started talking because she was trying to see if this was something that was really broken, or just a little. Like if it looked like there were the parts for it and stuff. She didn't understand the technical stuff on things, but she had seen gears and springs before, so it was mostly that she was looking at.

 

Briar had dropped the box carefully on the ground when Mez had capsuled herself earlier, and had moved around a little, so there hadn't been a problem getting to it, and while looking at it it seemed like there were a whole bunch of things, including springs and a few gears, but it also seemed pretty battered, so she had been thinking if she should take it along or not. That is, until she was spoken to.

 

"I-I don't r-really...I mean..."

 

Before she could stumble across an answer she let out a big yawn, something that made Briar chuckle a little.

 

"Perhaps the excitement for today have been met and it's time you got some rest instead?"

 

Brittle stoof still and uncomfortably looked down on her hooves a little before raising her head slightly.

 

"O-Okay..."

 

She could say that she wasn't tired, but she just hadn't thought much about it. Suddenly she had just gone... Well, half-exhausted? It could sneak up on you when you weren't noticing sometimes.

 

"We should make our way back towards the forest then. What about you Mez, are you in need of rest as well?"

Pinkie giggled, imagining what that might look like. "I'm working on it." She said, smiling.

"Yeah, my friend Spitfire gave 'em to me before I left Canterlot on my travels a few years back." Storm paused before chuckling and shaking his head. "I never even thought about that until now, Who would've though that a little farm pony on me who left home to find his cutie mark would be as lucky as all this." He looked up, "I've been to Canterlot, and even made friends there.. Not to mention that I have the most amazingly cute and funny marefriend, that I'm about ready to marry..." He laughed, "I never thought I'd be as lucky as I am when I left home... But I am." Storm looked at his goggled, and made a decision. "Pinkie's been trying to get me to walk around without them, but I've been scared.. I'll do it. I'll do this for her, and for myself." He took his goggles and put them back on, but hanging off his neck rather than over his eyes. "I can do this!"

"Anyways, yeah. Plenty of great friends who put up with me, especially around Ponyville here. Lots of nice Ponyfolk." Storm smiled, looking around the hut. "I wonder where Zecora went?" He commented, noticing a lack of their Zebra host.

Ziggy's line of thought was derailed when Storm brought up that their black and white hostess had suddenly gone missing.

 

"Hmmm... I can't See her so she might be outside.. Oooooh."

 

Her eyes went wide and she moved in close to Storm, pulling him in to the side and whispered his way.

 

"Or she's gone Invisible, and she's just starring at us."

 

She let go off him and started to look around, feeling with her hooves here and there in the air, trying to find if the Zebra was there, but just couldn't be seen. Might seem a bit crazy, but Zecora was a Zebra with a lot of potions, she might just be able to do that sort of thing.

Brittle nodded, and after getting the box packed away on her, followed Mez as Briar led them into the forest, past more or less silent places until they once more stood at the river where she had met him again some time earlier today, though now on the other side of it.

 

"Ah yes, home sweet makeshift home."

 

He wandered a little further, then used his vines to part ways of the hanging leaves of a heavy tree, revealing a cave entrance beneath the natural carpet shielding it otherwise.

 

He would signal them to go inside and would wait until they would. Inside there wouldn't be much. Mostly just piles of leaves and vines he had crudely stuck together to be used as seating or primitive beds, and a small pile of berries in a charred, half barrel he had found nearby. It was clear that he hadn't exactly settled in for long here, but what could you expect when he had been there less than three days and used most of that time getting acquainted with the locals?

 

"Royal quarters it is not, but it's as hidden as can be hoped for currently, and as far as caves go, this is prime location. Near water and fresh food, which tends to be an issue to some of these places."

Pinkie tilted her head, "I don't think he's ever had a problem looking at me.." She replied, confused.

Storm shrugged, "I don't see why she would do something like that... She's probably just left to gather ingredients." He suggested. "There's a lot of odd stuff you can find in the Everfree Forest."

"Might've come out wrong. Just meant that it carries some meaning that you're locking eyes when the vows gets exchanged. What my sis used to say about it at least. Something about it being something special that would be less if there was something obstructing the eyes.

 

And with the locking eyes thing, just meant that it's looking a bit awkward if the other pony can't look directly when it's said, and where I'm from, we take that as a bad omen. Minor superstition really, but y'know, always gonna be some of that."

Ziggy stopped wandering around and trying to find Zecora her way, looking at Stormy a little disappointed for a second before going back to smiley.

 

"Well, less fun, but okay, makes more sense I guess. Wanna go look for her? Or do you think she's out there with her friend from before? Oh! Or perhaps she's looking for him? There was some things he said he was gonna get, perhaps she needs them really fast?"

"Could be any of those..." Storm replied, "Maybe she went out looking for ingredients and ran into him, and now they're doing a walk 'n talk ingredient search..." He suggested. "Hmm..." Storm thought about something for a minute, "I should totally introduce you to my marefriend Pinkie! I think you two would be great friends!" He told the half-zebra thoughtfully. "Then again, Pinkie is great friends with everypony.. But that's not the point."

He might have said where he was going, but she couldn't recall it. Might have slipped her mind at some point.

"Oooh, I would Love to meet the mare of your dreams. I wanna see who swooped you off your legs."

 

Ziggy looked happy with the suggestion. The way Storm had talked about his marefriend, she sounded like she was a very special pony that made him very happy, and she for one would think it would be super fantastic to see who it was. Currently she was thinking some sort of Pegasus in yellowish white with a long, flowing mane and big, pink eyes, but it wasn't really easy to be sure, just the image she had until she could fill the blanks.

 

"And then we won't disturb those two again if they're out on a stroll together. Aaawh, such a good day for couples."

 

All of this talk about romance seemed to have hit something of a streak inside her head, making her fill in some other blanks with a pink, heart-shaped cloud sort of view. It could be that the two were simply out to harvest something, but since she didn't know, then why not think it could be a cute time also? Never hurt to think happy thoughts after all.

 

She moved out of the hut, and when outside, stretched her wings, ready to follow Storm on whatever way he wanted them to go.

"No, I think his next scheduled day is tomorrow... But then again, he does tend to help even on his days off." Pinkie giggled, "Rainbow has had to force him to take breaks sometimes."

Storm smiled, "Alrighty then! I think she should still be at Sugarcube Corner!" He told Ziggy with a smile, taking to the air. He flew to Sugarcube Corner, making sure to check occasionally that Ziggy was still following. Storm finally landed in front of Sugarcube Corner. "Well, here's Sugarcube Corner!" He told the half-zebra, "The best place to go for those with a sweet-tooth!" Having said that, Storm walked in. The minute he walked through the door, he was tackled by a pink blur. "Hi Stormy! How've you been?" Pinkie asked from where she was hugging him. "Hiya Pinkie, I've been doing good. How about you?" Storm replied with a smile, standing up before hugging his marefriend back. "Absolutivley Funtastic!" She exclaimed, "I've been talking a lot with Last, and it's been really really really fun!" Pinkie explained. "That's awesome Pinkie!" Storm replied, before pointing at Ziggy. "By the way, I've made a new friend while I was out! This is Ziggy." He told Pinkie, who practically teleported to Ziggy's side.

"Hi there, I'm Pinkamena Diane Pie, but you can call me Pinkie Pie! Or Pinkie... It's nice to meet you Ziggy!" She introduced herself happily before her arm stretched out and quickly pulled Last to her side, "And this is one of my newest friends Last!" Her other arm stretched, pulling Storm to her side, "And this is my coltfriend Storm Shine!" Storm chuckled, giving her a hug and a quick pat on the head. "She already knows me goofball." Pinkie's eyes widened, "Oh yeah~...." She said, realizing that in her excitement to greet another new pony she had completely forgot that Storm had been the one to introduce her. "Okie Dokie!"

Mezra walked inside and looked around. "Cool! I've slept in the woods lots of times but this is is the nicest cave I've been in. Except for that one dragon's cave I fell into. He melted gold into the walls while the floor was covered with gems. But I wasn't able to stay long cause he was really mean when he found me. I was able to sneak away though." She look over to Brittle. "Mind if I bunk with you?"

Ziggy looked with big eyes at Pinkie Pie during her introduction, then over at Last that looked a mixture between surprised she was taken in like that and stubborn, then quickly back at Pinkie again as a giggle slowly made it's way up her throat during the pink mare's introductions.

 

"..."

 

Then like a bolt a lightning, Ziggy was completely close to Pinkie, grabbing her from the floor and raising her up above the others in a tight hug, feeling like sthey were flying. Which they were, even if only by a few inches above the ground.

 

"Oh, you're so Adorable!"

 

She took out Pinkie Pie in stretched hooves with a big smile plastered over her face.

 

"Hi Pinkie. I'm Doc Zinger, but all my friends call me Ziggy, and since you're Storm's marefriend then you're my friend too, so you can call me that for sure."

 

Ziggy got back to the ground and let go of Pinkie before setting down on all hooves again, looking down on the couple.

 

"I can see why you're smitten for sure Storm. She looks like a fun pony. And you two look sooo cute together."

 

Nearby, Last had shaken the embrace off her and looked over the tall, pink Zebra.looking mare before letting out a sigh and mumbling under her breath.

 

"Dear Celestia, there's two of them."

"Certainly. You must be tired, and I see no reason to not share this humble shelter."

 

Briar smirked slightly towards her and Brittle that were already settling down from the sound of it.

 

"Now then, I will leave you to get some rest. I don't want it to be too crowded in here, and I prefer to be resting under the stars anyway if it can be helped.

 

If you need me, I will be just outside. For now, goodnight to you both."

 

"G-Goodnight..."

 

The sound of Brittle was the last he heard before moving silently outside and settled in at a grassy patch next to the entrance. It wasn't as secure as being inside, but he preferred the outside if the weather was good in any case, and he was a light sleeper. If anything or anypony tried something, he would hear it, and he would be prepared to do what had to be done to protect the two inside.

 

For now though, he felt the long day upon his mind and quickly drifted off, letting out a low snore. Hopefully, the others would rest soon as well.

Storm blushed at Ziggy's declaration, Pinkie turning and pulling him into a hug before turning to face the half-zebra with Storm in her grip. "Thanks Ziggy!" She exclaimed happily. "I love Stormy a lot too! He's silly, and fun, and enjoys hugs and parties and he's always okay with my crazy stunts, and he doesn't even feel the need question my logic on stuff!" Pinkie told Ziggy with a big smile. "I remember during the Parasprite infestation, Nopony would help me out and everypony seemed to think what I was doing was crazy! But not Stormy, I was like: 'Stormy! I need a banjo to save Ponyville!' and he didn't even think about it, just handed me a banjo lickity-split! He even helped me round up the rest of the instruments I needed!" She giggled. Storm grinned, "Well, anything for the mare of my dreams.." He managed through the hug that was currently crushing him. "Aaww~" Pinkie cooed, nuzzling her head against his.

Ziggy tilted her head a little and looked confused at Pinkie.

 

"You had Parasprites here and you used a banjo?"

 

Granted, she didn't really know anything about Parasprites since they weren't a common sight where she was from, but she knew a little about them, but she hadn't thought that music would affect them. Perhaps they didn't like banjoes? Or... Wait.

 

"Oooh. Did you lead them around that way? I saw a few ponies do that in a circus some time ago in Las Pegasus with some ducks, but didn't know you could do anything with insects that way."

 

It had been a weird sight that day, but between not having left the hospital when she grew up and then studying when she did, the times she had been able to check out things like that was not many, and most of them were used to see her dads shows. Still, it had been worth the detour that humid evening to see the pony couple with the ducks in her mind, even if she had to pull an all nighter to get her paper done when she got home.

Pinkie nodded, "Yeppers! I used a banjo, some symbols, a big drum, a trumpet, a harmonica..." Pinkie continued to list off instruments for a bit before finally stopping, "And an Accordion. I know Stormy would've helped, but he only know how to play the guitar...." Storm grinned, "Yeah.. Guitar, Bass Guitar, Ukulele... If it's a guitar based instrument I can probably play it, but I'm absolutely useless with any other kind... But thankfully, Pinkie is her amazing self! She's the only mare I know who can play that many different instruments at the same time, while walking, at that!" Pinkie hugged Storm tighter, forcing all the air out of him, before letting go. "Thanks Stormy!" The blue stallion drifted to the floor, flat as a rug. "No problem Pinkie.." He said, somehow managing a smile even though he was almost 100% flat. Storm lifted a hoof to his mouth and blew on it, inflating himself back to normal with a quick *pop!*

"Whoa, that many instruments at once?"

 

Ziggy looked at Pinkie with big eyes, surprised over what she had heard. From her fathers tales of the shows he had been opening for/had opened for him, there were acts in Las Pegasus that had been training for years without getting that much done at once unless it was a big band. One pony doing that was almost crazy. Crazy awesome that was.

 

"Are you part of a circus act? 'Cause it sounds like you're a performance pony, and circuses always get the best talents."

 

Her dad used to be part of a circus briefly, but he got an offer from one of the venues in town that didn't require him to wear that much make-up and weird costumes, so he had left 'em behind. Still, he said that they had some good ones on staff.

Pinkie giggled, "No I'm a party-pony, not a circus-pony!" She informed Ziggy before pausing. "Unless it's a circus party!" Pinkie declared, "Then I might be both." She joked. Storm laughed, "As long as you don't end up leaving with them." He said teasingly before getting a bit more serious, "I don't know what I would do without you." Storm finished with a smile smile still present. "Aaaww~..." Pinkie cooed, pulling Storm into yet another crushing hug which left his mid-section airless and flat. "I love you Stormy!" Storm popped a hoof into his mouth and blew, quickly re-inflating the flattened area. "I love you too Pinkie.." He replied, gently hugging her back.
