My PC is just over three years old and the only upgrade I've done since then is some extra RAM. Here's some specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K @ 3.30GHz
RAM: 8.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz
HDD: 931GB SAMSUNG HD103SJ
GPU: 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series
PSU: XFX Core Edition PRO450W
MB: ASRock Z68 Pro3

And I use this all to play oldschool Runescape.. :please:  Looking forward to Borderlands: Pre-Sequel, Civilization: Beoynd Earth and Killing Floor 2 though.

So, is anyone else going to try the PC version of MGS5 that's supposed to be coming out?

Fun fact:

I have a computer so old it runs Windows ME and has a Pentium II in it I got off the side of the road and it works. It even has a bunch of old games still loaded on it.

Wow, Pentium II? What year was that thing built in?

I can only assume the late 90s.

Should have a sticker with the build date on the back if it's an OEM machine.

I'll have to check next I see it(it's buried in my storage room/the entryway to my attic right now)

I done a bit of messing around in Half-Life 2's settings, and I was able to play the game on the absolute highest settings with 50FPS on my AMD A10-7700K APU.

Wow.

APUs and integrated graphics are pretty impressive these days. Even gaming on an ultrabook isn't horrible anymore.

Wow.

Isn't that sort of like saying, in 2004, I was able to play Doom maxed out on my P4 with Intel Extreme Graphics?

Not trying to belittle the A10, it's a great CPU/GPU for the money.

Thoughts on this? The 4GB VRAM requirement seems a little absurd, especially with the 30FPS framerate lock.

The 8GB of unified memory on the consoles seems to have given the developers free reign to stop giving a fuck with regards to any sort of optimization whatsoever.

Reminds me of Titanfall's 49 GB download, 35 GB of which was uncompressed audio.

That seems like a horrible waste space for audio files(almost as bad the that MLP fan-game a while back where they had a sound effect of a door opening taking up like 100MB)

With any luck this shit will get hammered out.

No dice if I can't play it even at 60 fps, let alone have the option to play at 144fps. Also 4gb vram and they still can't get it above at least 60 fps and why can the xbox 360 and the ps3 play it? Sounds like a load of bs from Bethesda.

They say they'll be a console command to unlock it, but it was designed for 30FPS and they don't recommend removing it. I might "acquire" because it does look interesting. I can personally live with 48-60FPS on a PC game as long it it's optimized well enough it doesn't feel laggy.

A lot of people are saying it sounds like a BS excuse for lazy optimization.

Before devs start making games require more VRAM, they should make games take advantage of more than two cores.

30FPS lock, requires 4GB VRAM and letterboxed? I'll pass.

and hold back until we have some more budget friendly cards with more than 2GB. Not everyone can spend $500 on a GPU.
