Oh, thank heavens. I thought they canned it.   :wau:

I think a song of celebration is in order!

Should be fine, the FX-8320 is pretty powerful (especially when it comes to multi-core performance.)

I didn't know because all I can ever find when I search DCPUs is Intel fanboys calling everything branded AMD junk, thanks.

Intel and Nvidia always like to trash AMD products because they're generally considered the 'cheaper alternative' incase you can't afford the more expensive Intel and Nvidia products. Even as one myself, I consider AMD to be a fine competitor, especially when it comes to price to performance ratio as AMD always had their numbers in that field. If AMD CPU's weren't such power hungry cpus or AMD graphics drivers were better, I'd probably go AMD myself.

I went AMD on the CPU and Nvidia(GTX 750ti, FTW edition) on the GPU because I heard Nvidia GPUs were a bit better for the money.

It's actually AMD Graphics card that are usually better for your buck, especially lower end ones last time I've checked.

Or this?! Any progress?! ANY NEWS?!  :(

Still in development, Arkane Studios, targeted 2016 release.

Considering how long it took Prey to come out(it was starting around the time Doom 3 was released but didn't come out until 2011) I wouldn't hold my breath to much.

Oh.

I did buy a more expensive card though(it  would've been $180 off-sale)

@@Shoboni,

Prey 1 came out in 2011? Huh?

Excuse me, It went into development in 1995 and was released in 2006(I guess it was a launch title for the Xbox360/PS3 generation). I was thinking of Duke Nukem Forever when I said 2011.

But yeah, that's still a nine year development cycle(the fact "Don't Fear the Reaper" a song that was popular in 90s games is on the soundtrack is a good clue-in how long it was in development and how much of it was retained the whole time)

It was a pretty decent game for 2006.

Wikipedia even has some early screenshots:

The final product:

Fair enough, just as long as that graphics card works fine that's all it matters in the end.

Duke Nukem Forever, 1996-2011. Never forget. Or maybe forget it ever happened? Duke Nukem 3D was boss.

GTX 970 forced AMD to totally rethink their pricing strategy. If you ever needed another card for CF, 290s are dropping all over the place.

The thing can pull like 45FPS+ on BF4 at 1080p and a mix of ultra/high settings according to the videos I found(it also seems to play Ryse of Rome, which is also pretty graphically intense well)

Until recently when the 970 came and actually beat AMD at their own strategy and AMD is still some time away from making a new generation to counter the GTX 900 lines I should've mentioned, thank you Lunatic Envy.

Speaking of which, I'm thinking of getting Star Citizen guys, should I go for it?

DNF gets a ton of hate (and much of it deserved) but in the end, the best thing I could say about it is that it's incredibly mediocre, falling short of all expectations. However, I did finish it.

I paid $8 for Colonial Marines and regret spending a single cent. I somehow convinced a friend to buy it with me and we tried the co-op mode. Literally aliens running directly at your gun, non stop. No semblance of AI whatsoever for the aliens AND your team AI, which aren't actually replaced by human players so you get this huge group of people romping around getting stuck in corridors and the like... To add insult to injury, it kept losing our co-op progress and we had to start it from the beginning. That was the last time we touched it.

Isolation is better, but different. I was hoping for something along the lines of AVP2 or even AVP 2010. I thought 2010 was pretty decent, though the alien campaign was way too short...

I don't know. DNF wasn't great or anything but I thoroughly enjoyed for something I got for $10 on sale(yeah, it did so poor GS was liquidating brand new copies for $10 within a few months of release).

Oh, that isn't a quote button? Huh. Mobile skin is confusing.

Anyway, Nuke, I've heard mixed things towards Star Citizen, with people daring Elite: Dangerous is better, while others say Star Citizen is better. Can't really give much input myself as I've only played SC once, but I like what I'm seeing from both.

So I should do a wait and see approach eh? Alright that's fine by me as Star Citizen isn't ready till like next year at best. Perhaps I'll look to Elite: Dangerous as well.

I bought it full price, so my expectations were probably somewhat higher. That being said, I still knew it was going to fall way short. I told everyone, I'm gonna buy a boxed copy of this whenever it comes out just to say I did, beat it and shelve it. Then I can tell my kids, this game was 15 years in the making. And it didn't mean a damned thing.

That's about it.

It's not the worst purchase I've made, not by a long shot.

On the topic of games, I just wanted to say that of the games I've played this year, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is probably my favorite. If you are a Transformers fan in the LEAST, you owe it to yourself to give this game a shot. A friend of mine kept telling me to play it for over a year and I finally did. I kept thinking this is just some TF movie cash in but I was more than pleasantly surprised. It's so utterly awesome. It's like playing with action figures as a kid. You cut out all the boring stuff in between and there's always action action action switching back and forth between Autobots and Decepticons.

Loved it.

I'm sore that Activision let go of like 40% of High Moon after the game's release then reassigned them to the previous-gen ports of CoD: AW. WHAT. A. WASTE.

I think the first really big game I'm going to torrent and try on my my new build will be The Evil Within because it looks like a really interesting horror-title despite it's technical flaws.

Honestly, it feels more like a modern Resident Evil than a horror game. Alien Isolation is maybe more along the lines of a traditional horror game.

I actually really like RE4 and RE5(and even RE6 to a slightly lesser degree) and the game seems to have a bit of a Silent Hill vibe as far story, design, and atmosphere.

For some reason sci-fi-horror never did much for me(not that I dislike it, it just never did as much for me as historical or present-day horror)

This video makes me understand that old joke about Crysis being a benchmarking tool instead of a game. This is 2013 release and it's running slower maxed on in this card than some 2014 releases(I bet it would easily break 30 and stay up there at 720p though)
