Played some Alan Wake: American Nightmare.

Got it at a pretty consistent 50FPS+ at 1080p, high settings, max draw distances, x2AA and x2AF and it's pretty fun because it kind of feels like an old budget title complete with live-action cutscenes.

Hunting down a RE4 ISO to try a Gamecube emulator.

Tried a NGC emu(and downloaded a game I plan to play through on it)

Eternal Darkness ran at a smooth 60FPS with minimal lag-spikes to the upper-30s.(I was running at 2.5x resolution with 4xAA and 2xAF so I could probably tweak and eliminate those as well)

..and intel fanboys said you couldn't emulate the newer consoles on a FX-8320.

Looks like it ranks up there pretty high and should even emulate Wii pretty good.

I found Bundle-Stars and bought like 30+ games(including Velvet Assassin, oddly) for under $12.

You people we're kidding when you said PC gaming is dirt cheap.

I assume you accidentally put the wrong word in there?

Yeah, I meant "weren't kidding"

Damn was that a hell of a deal, a couple of them were interesting looking horror bundles as well.

If anyone is interesting the FEAR games but doesn't have them, Bundle-Stars has the complete pack(all three games and all the DLC) for $8(the collection is normally $55 on if bought directly through Steam)

It's still Steam games, Bundle-Stars just sells you Steam coded at a discount.

guhhhhh I wish I had some spending money right now, all these sales and I'm keeping my money for PC parts.

Speaking of which, probably gonna wait for the Labor Day weekend before trying to finish off my shopping list. Should be more sales on PC parts then.

No problem, Bundle-Stars is awesome for getting pretty big bundles cheap and I've started keeping a close eye on it,.

And for keeping track of PC part sales and coupon codes, /r/buildapcsales is a great resource.

Started the first FEAR, it's a technical nightmare. Not only did I have to force a resolution change(it defaults to 640x480) by editing the config file but I had to find a work-around for a crippling bug that makes the FPS drop to like 11 after a few minutes of play.

Not bad for a game from 2005. Just trying to get many popular games from the early 2000s to run well on modern systems can be an exercise in frustration. For one thing, 4:3 monitors were still the norm.

It does look good for a 2005 game once you get it forced to 1080p and cranked up though.

But does it look as good as Crysis?

Not quite, but it's close, some polish and it would be right up there.

By far the best thing about FEAR are the melee attacks. Use them exclusively in multiplayer because guns lose to a kick to the face every single time.

I'd almost want to try out FEAR Online if it wasn't such an F2P cash grab.

Haha yeah, I remember once I got this new PC and could actually play PC games, and I just looked at steam and all the sales, and i'm like "I can buy games that are normally like 30-50 bucks for like 10 bucks or something, this is awesome!"

Something along those lines, but yeah.

Unfortunately you do have to pay for parts, which can be pricey, but eh.

In other news, i'm kinda waiting it out on buying to much in terms of much right now, so I can save up and buy my new GPU and PSU to go along with said GPU. It might be a while before I get the money honestly lol.

In case anyones wondering, here are the GPU and PSU i'm getting. I think most of you here may already know about my choice anyways(considering I already asked for help regarding it, since I'm still pretty novice in my opinion when it comes to computer parts.) but I'll post it anyways for discussions sake.

I have that same PSU. I'm sure you'll be happy with it, it's been chugging along for me for about a year and a half now.

A good SP strategy to save ammo is staggering a enemy with a burst of gunfire then finishing with a melee kill. It really saves on the shit-ton of bullets it takes to drop someone.

I'm thinking of getting another PC for the other house I live in. (Ugh, I hate needing to bounce between two places.)

My budget is, at most, $500. Also, I'm thinking that I would make it Intel based. (If possible in the budget.)

Anyone have a suggestion?

You wouldn't care for a laptop if mobility is necessary?

After a bit of mucking around on PCPartPicker... http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DGZw8d

I'm honestly a bit amazed that I got a tier 2A-quality PSU into that.

Christmas is coming up, and if I purchase a laptop, I don't think I would take advantage of mobility anymore if I already have a desktop at one place. So I might as well get another desktop.

Also, getting a laptop meant for gaming can be costly, at around $1000. Twice my budget.
