Oh, so then it's like Tactical Intervention?

Never heard of it. But at least that one wasn't a Kickstarter.

The minute I tried a SP "training" mission and the AI one-hit killed me from over 1000 feet away and kept doing without fail I gave up.

I opened a door and was immediately shot in the face. I crept around the corner slowly and finally found the sniper all the way across the map standing on top of tower looking squarely at the tiny door I was standing at.

A revolution in AI.

Or it's just a cheap-ass "find the players cords, then shoot him if in line of sight" function with no range limit or chance to miss.

Yeah, I saw some dude get trashed for being an elitist in there because he went on a long-winded rant about how people that paid to have someone build it for them or went with cheap builds weren't real PC gamers.

If you're not going to get better graphics on PC because you have a very cheap build why not just be a console gamer?

That is the real argument.

I am both a PC and console gamer always have been but I like consoles more because they have better exclusives. Limiting yourself just to PC seems redundant if you're not getting above 720p, 30fps and have settings below high or ultra you may as well go to console if you don't care about outdated visuals. That's what I do most of the time.

For a list of reasons:

Cheaper games

Emulators

PCs do more than gaming

More variety of games(I can still play Fallout 3 and Modded Doom on my PC, a XboxOne or PS4 can't do that, there's all the indie games that don't hit consoles as well, some of which are freeware)

Mods

My FX-8320/750ti build is still running 360/PS3 era games at far higher settings and running The Evil Within at higher resolution and FPS than the next-gen consoles, and it's GPU has been demonstrated in benchmarks to be more powerful than than the one in the XboxOne.

It may be nice, but you don't need a $1500 monster to PC gaming on decent settings and comfortable FPS and out-perform consoles.

Also, above all else it feels cool to being using a machine you built yourself with your own two hands.

For a list of reasons:

Cheaper games

>Not with season pass the price difference isn't that much for new games

Emulators

>I've used dozens of emulators most of them are mediocre

PCs do more than gaming

>Everyone has a computer for emails, text processing etc. Be it an Ipad, smart phone, laptop, desktop etc.

Moot point

More variety of games(I can still play Fallout 3 and Modded Doom on my PC, a XboxOne or PS4 can't do that, there's all the indie games that don't hit consoles as well, some of which are freeware)

>Mods are almost always terrible made by amateurs I have played countless mods

>'decent' settings are what consoles have. Anything below high with a resolution at 1080p or below is pointless because you're just emulating what the console can do.

Also, above all else it feels cool to being using a machine you built yourself with your own two hands.

>This has nothing to do with the experience

All in all the benefits of pc gaming only exist if you can max a game out otherwise stick to consoles.

I can see you're just an elitist that wants to argue with someone so I'm going to stop this here before we reduce this thread to a flame-war. You can

start a new thread about why you need a k-series i7 and GTX Titan in the debate pit if you want to continue this. If someone wants a PC, likes the PC they picked, and enjoys gaming on it that's all that matters. Just stop scaring people off with elitist bullshit because that's what's killing the

market and why we keep getting crap that was made with consoles in mind and not optimized worth shit in the PC release like Unity and Ghosts.

On topic, I might have to shell out $120 for a copy of windows because Bill Gates successor is an asshole.

1. I still see Orange Box PS3 copies for $50 at Target. Then, who even plays Valve games on console?

2. I dunno, but ZSNES feels better than the MegaMan X Collection on Gameube.

3. Non-gaming things on PC isn't only iBad stuff. Heavy video editing with things like Sony Movie Studio or Vegas. You can also use stuff like Photoshop.

4. Mods are terrible? You should see some of the DOOM map packs like Plutonia 2 and Sunder... With Brutal DOOM.

Don't forget Unloved, if you can get past the bad difficulty balancing or just like really hardcore WADs it's pretty amazing. There's also tons of cool little graphics mods, extra weapons, and add-ons for stuff like Fallout 3(I have a bunch of pony stuff on mine)

I never said I did limit myself, I plan to get a Wii U first(the most exclusives), and then later on when it price drops and games are cheaper grab a PS4 for the other major cross-console exclusives.

I also own over a dozen other consoles ranging from the good old SNES to more obscure stuff like the Atari Jaguar and you can see my PSN(PS3) and Xbox(360) info in my sig.

My friend's dad is giving me a converted server with a built in motherboard. It's already a huge processor, so its basically the best gaming computer ever.(And its free!)

Make sure you throw a decent GPU in there if it doesn't already have one, that's what matters most for gaming.

The biggest reason I'm part of the "Pc master race", is simply because I can play with keyboard and mouse.

And don't bring up converters which enables mouse on console, since they suffer from mouse acceleration and delay. Generally, converting a stick movement to mouse doesn't work flawlessly.

Second reason is because anything below 60, or at least 45, fps looks jarring to me. It just looks choppy and movement just becomes a blur.

Even next gen consoles struggle with getting 60 fps in their games, and some drop to 30 fps max in order to get 1080p.

When it comes to graphics, I really don't care that much. Therefore I'd much more like to the consoles focus on 60 fps 720p rather than 30 fps 1080p.

With PC however, getting 60 fps 1080p should't be a problem with a 600$+ build.

The only reason I buy consoles along my PC is because of the exclusives, and that's it.

Lately though, the exclusives has become less and less interesting, as they have evolved into mainstream moneymakers.

Now only Nintendo seem to be a console worth considering, because of the games they have which actually are different from the ones I can play on my PC.

What does everything think of the fact lower-end builds based around 750tis or similar are already outperforming the PS4 and XboxOne on most games?

PS4 and Xbox One were outdated out of the gate. It's not really that surprising.

I'm starting to wonder if hardware isn't just moving to fast now for consoles to viable, there was mid-range PC parts out performing them six months out of the gate and as of now you can build a $500 console killer if you really bleed your budget.

Hardware is moving too fast for consoles to truly be viable now. Just think about how in a few years even something like your 750 Ti can run games in 1440p.

But does it really matter so much if all you're getting are console ports or indie titles that aren't terribly demanding anyway?

If they don't start optimizing the PC versions a little better power is going to start mattering a whole lot. XD.

I agree though, I honestly consider anything over what it takes to max out games at 1080p and 60FPS over-kill, and even having a machine that good isn't a requirement.

It's no different from previous generations, really. Look at the memory specs and clock speeds on the PS1, PS2, and PS3. Technology has always been moving fast, and if anything, it's slowing down.

Just for comparison, consider that the PS3's cell processor is actually more powerful than the PS4's CPU. The PS4's GPU is only 4.5x faster than the PS3's RSX. That's pretty slow development, considering they're 7 years apart.

Computer speeds are supposed to double every 2 years. Theoretically, the PS4 should be in the range of 8-16x as powerful. The only place this is true is in memory, in which the PS4 has 16x the memory of the PS3.

That's true. I've had my 670 for a few years now and its served me well. Companies are targeting consoles first; it's just good business. We're not going to see stuff like 2007's Crysis anymore.

The thing about this console generation is that I doubt we'll see what we did with the PS3 and the 360. The PS4 and XB1 are based on x86 and I don't believe there's a ton of untapped potential for developers, who are already very familiar with it. It's more or less a PC with a large unified pool of memory. It works well, its cheap to manufacture.

All this aside, I still have consoles because of games that aren't going to make it to PC. That's all.

PS3 and Xbox 360 actually standardized multi-core design in games and had very good processors for their time, but they had so-so GPUs and within a year or two the PC pulled ahead again. Then there's this generation, where they shipped with terrible processors (they're meant for tablets or low-end business machines, not gaming!) and pretty good GPUs. So now they have the opposite problem.

It taken more than 5 years to research and develop a console....

They given us systems that are as powerful as a lower-to-mid-end PC.

Nice job, Sony and Mirosoft.

What would you expect? There's only so much you can do with a 200-300 watt budget. Consoles will never be as good as PC's of their time, because nobody wants a big-ass system with giant fans in their living room.

A high end PC needs power. Power produces heat. Dissipating heat requires fans or liquid cooling. That takes up space, increases costs, and makes noise.
