You can get every single Serious Sam game on Steam(including both the classic and HD versions of the first two) for $10 right now(the pack is usually $100, so if you're interested in any of them I'd grab it)

Apparently the graphics card in my laptop can run GTA IV at a walloping negative 1 FPS.

What card is that? A reclaimed GPU out of a PS1?

Nah, but you're close. It's an HD 3000. That FPS benchmark I screenshotted is obviously glitched but I found it funny nonetheless.

Right now I've got my sights on this laptop:

It's a really good deal and should be able to play almost anything at highest settings with ease. Time to raise some money.

That's odd, I would think you could at least get 20-30FPS on lowest settings and resolution out of it on that.

This guy manages it somewhat.

The benchmark I posted wasn't from my computer in particular, just for the  graphics card in general. Someone made a pretty bad typo, I guess.

Those sites can be really "off"

Systems Requirements Lab told me my old PC(Pentium G2020 with Intel HD Graphics) wouldn't even be able to start up Doom 3 but it cold almost max it out at 48FPS+ and 720p.

Avast free antivirus is good for real-time protection.  If you want a good virus scanner, download Malawarebytes Anti-Malaware.

These are both just my personal recommendations anyway

Hmm, I did tried a paid version of malwarebytes but their version kinda of soured after it gave me firewall issues (wouldn't stop deactivating my internet) and how slow the scanner was.

Currently, I'm looking at Webroot, Vipre, and esst32.

My mom said that my PC parts came in the mail at her house.

Can't to wait to see it all put together on Wednesday.

Also, I got a bunch of Left 4 Dead 2 mods. I have a Shrek tank, Tourettes Guy smoker, "MINE!" pickup sound, DOOM auto-shotgun, and sad airhorn death music.

AVGfree for antivirus, it's never failed me.

Ok, so I made a graph of pc cost vs console cost, of course realistically it won't look exactly like this, but it will look similar to this.

Dkv6x6u.png

Either way, the consoles will cost more eventually.  The first line on console is the ps2/xbox/gamecube then it's the ps3/xbox360/wii finally it's the ps4/xbox one/wii u all cost going by launch of course.

Since when does the price of consoles increase exponentially?

cost of controllers and other misc things and a bit of research suggest that the cost of consoles are going up to compete with pc's power, still, I did say realistically it wouldn't look exactly like that but would look similar.

But it's... misleading.

The cost of owning a console for each generation isn't necessarily increasing. It's relatively stagnant. That chart makes it look like the price of console gaming is growing exponentially, which isn't necessarily true. It's really more like a linear growth model.

It's true, consoles are more expensive than the initial purchase price primarily due to multiplayer service subscriptions and the generally higher cost of games compared to buying digitally on PC, but that graph is a bit misleading.

That and the cost of a PC doesn't stay flat like that. I recently purchased a new GPU to replace one that was three years old for the cost of a current console. While there's no argument that it's more powerful, it was still $370.

Well, I did get two of the six parts I needed from the box. I got the motherboard and the case.

All I need now is the PSU, RAM, APU, and HDD.

Orrrr, how about this pre-made graph?

Not sure if you're being entirely serious here, but I'll chime in on this:

I never buy games full price at $60 unless I really, really must have it it day one (basically not ever). Most of my games are from GameFly or other places for less than $20. Not as cheap as a $5 game on Steam, but I don't usually spend only $5 on a PC game.

I never pay full retail for XBL or PSN. Not hard to find sales on codes for these.

And that $650 PC isn't upgraded once for that time period? Well, to each their own I suppose but isn't part of the PC experience better graphics? Gonna need some hardware for that, especially if you're running into unoptimized ports.

Just my 2c, I follow the games, not the systems.

I'm not the one who made that chart, I might add.

Just curious if you agreed with it.

I would totally agree with it if it accounted for more things, such as sales, upgrades and any necessary peripherals. Of course, it's pretty much impossible to gauge those over a set period of time, or if the user would even purchase those 40 games (and what prices they are), so I can see why they were left out, but it is what it is. A chart.
