Linus techtips review of the GTX 960 from asus, kind of wish they would compare all of them at once though, but atleast it's one 960.

Also gigabyte review was done today

GTX 960 is a bit underwhelming imo. I'd rather get an R9 280X over it, due to that 3GB frame buffer.

I think I'll just save up for a 970 since it's a powerful card AND has that pretty big 4GB of vram.

On the 970, it seems to have a problem with its RAM configuration. Starts having frame rate issues when 3.5GB is used.

It's still about the best choice without shelling $600 for a 980, though.

The 960 may look fine for my old computer, but I don't think you'll want that if you want to hit the sweet spot for price and gaming value in a graphics card. So far the 970 is still that sweet spot for gamers from Nvidia.

The 960 also only has 2GB of vram, which might be a road-block pretty quick.

Yeah, I doubt most games will use 3.5GB in 1080p. Maybe in 1440p or 4K, but 1080p? Probably not.

Even Shadow of Mordor maxes out at 3.2GB, doesn't it?

3.7GB.

tbh I liked the early rumored GTX 960 specs better than the released card, 3GB VRAM on a 192-bit bus. With how games are going that RAM config makes more sense than 2GB.

Anyone willing to trade a a decked out PC with 128GB RAM and an intel i7 for a seven year old log?

I'll be giving the log.

Bizarre. Curious to see if this is something they'll be able to fix at a driver level. Not sure how cutting 3 SMMs would cause something like this unless there was something else involved.

I hope this drives the price down on them and makes it easier for me to snag one.

You mean admitting there is a problem, then selling them at a discount?

Smells like lawsuit.

I kinda meant places with current stock of them liquidating(or maybe second hand ones)

If it turns out to be a problem that needs a recall, I doubt they'd continue to sell affected units at a lower price. That cannot be good for PR.

It is if you're like me and don't give a shit because it's better than $600 for a 980.

I'm not taking about that. I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't mind getting one on the cheap even if it is flawed.

But NVIDIA would, as do all the people who paid current pricing for one (assuming they just cut pricing without replacing affected units with good ones, which would be what, a 980?)

Still without official comment, lot of speculation going around.

Heads, awesome old RPG on sale for $0.70

http://store.steampowered.com/app/253940/

There's a couple indie games on sale for like $0.30 as well, so might want to snag those.

It reminds me of the 8800GTS and its slowdown in games. Don't recall if they ever fixed it, but it came down to the way the memory was handled by the GPU and its rather strange 320-bit memory controller. Looks like it's just the way the chip is designed to operate with fewer of its SMMs.
